We always hear Kirby talking about so and so did so and so in practice. So and so looked better in practice. This guy didn't look good in practice. Blah, blah, blah.

Is Kirby overly reliant on evaluating our talent based on practice? I'm mainly speaking to his QB management over the years, but it goes beyond that, too.

In practice you have no crowd, no pressure, QBs aren't taking hits, you're familiar with your "opponents" as they're actually your teammates. Some guys just don't shine in practice. They're tough to get up for and do a very poor job of showing what will happen in a real game.

I'm not saying practice is pointless...it's important to learn to react instead of think, which practice helps, but to judge your starting QB on what they look like in practice?!

It's just beyond me. Iverson was right....practice?

Im guessing that JT doesnt have the wow factor in practice.

It explains why everyone had a different favorite qb fall camp 2020.
Why JT wasnt ready for florida one week but ready for miss st the next.
Why offseason praise for carson beck in the spring rang so loudly (little to no separation).

I think JT just does better on saturdays when his presnap reads and quick decision making can shine.

I dont fault kirby for playing the best performers in practice. It matters. The OC needs confidence in a playsheet. Sometimes those saturday warriors dont get their reps until all other avenues have been exhausted.
