Any Georgia fans man enough to admit they were rooting for Florida in the '06 championship

It may be hard to believe now, but I'd say at least 40 percent of Georgia fans if not a majority were pulling for Florida in the 2006 national championship game.
It was a moment in time basically and it all revolved around ESPN, back when ESPN had college football and college football fans by the nuts.
It was also back before the SEC clearly asserted its dominance and didn't get the benefit of the doubt from pollsters and commentators.
ESPN was at the heart of it though. Back when fans were completely fixated on ESPN and questioning its ever move. Turn it to ESPN2 as soon as your team's game was over and wait for the highlights. Then critique. "Why would they show THAT highlight instead of the other one. Why'd they show the Big 10 highlights before my team's highlights? Why does ESPN hate us so bad?"
It all boiled over when Ohio State was selected to play in the BCS national championship game and SEC fans were convinced that it wouldn't have happened if ESPN hadn't done its ESPN voodoo and behind the scenes conspiracy theory stuff, and that ESPN secretly loved Ohio State and hated the SEC.
This infuriated SEC fans, including Georgia fans, and it remains one of the oddest phenomenons ever – a bunch of god damn Dawg fans rooting like hell for Florida to win the national title. I'd be honest if I was one of them, but I swear to god it wasn't me! I doubt any Georgia fans would admit it now in retrospect.
Strange times! I'm just glad that ESPN is now an afterthought. ESPN has always sucked.

I was rooting for Florida but looking back on it I think it was a mistake. frick Florida

I was more of a “Go SEC” guy then but it was because if Georgia ever got close with the BCS I wanted the strongest conference argument in our favor.

Let me start this off by saying I am not a big fan of Bama nor Florida. That being said, the 2006 title game could not be a Ohio St /Michigan rematch and Bama had to beat 5 win Ohio St in 2020.

I absolutely was because I knew Ohio State was overrated and they were seriously close to rematching Ohio State and Michigan in that game. That was when the voters finally did the right thing and put the SEC in every championship game, then they won 7 in a row.

I wasn’t necessarily rooting for them but I was caught off guard by how good they looked.
That was a veteran team with incredible talent that was challenged by UT, LSU, Auburn, UGA, SC, FSU, Arky etc. during the regular season yet they destroyed Ohio State from the opening offensive snap.
