I've done it again. I am here to inform you that the fifth novel in my Beers Detective Agency series has been booted out the door to an unsuspecting public and is available from the links below.

In this mystery, intrepid store detective Jim "Beers" Biersovich is under siege from every quarter after 9/11 disrupts ordinary life, followed quickly by a murder at the store. In addition to overseeing enhanced security, he has to cope with a street construction project that causes damage to the building, unleashing swarms of rats and insects. This prompts calls by city inspectors to shutter the place and a threat by the union to stage a job action. Meanwhile, his girlfriend has freaked out and split because of the murder.

His usual unofficial assistants are out of pocket and can't help him. Lena is called down to New Orleans to deal with a family crisis. Tina is shut out due to her union affiliation. He's on his own, juggling his normal duties along with the murder investigation.

All of this convinces him it's time to escape and chart a new path for his future. But he can't do that until he solves this mystery.

Beers Tapped Out is available from Amazon and Barnes & Noble in both paperback and ebook.

First Case of Beers isn't available for kindle? I didn't catch your books before this post and wanted to start at the beginning, but that's the only one that doesn't seem to be available.

Congrats - how did you get into writing? I've been sort of trying my hand at it recently, its been quite challenging thus far.

I read a lot. I mean a lot. Then after awhile, I thought I would challenge myself and try to write a novel. It took 5 years to write, then 5 years to get it published. I've released 4 more in the last 5 years.

It gets easier. You have to discipline yourself to do it every day, like exercise. Pick a time. Force yourself to write something every day, even if it's crap. You can go back later and edit out the crap.

At least I hope I've edited out the crap.

That is kind of where i am. I've always read a good bit but have been getting through like 30 - 40 books a year, taking some notes on stuff i did and didn't like, interesting ideas, etc.

Did you set yourself some hourly / weekly hours to write? Word counts? I've written a few very short things, not even like a short story but just some scenes and then an outline kind of thing for plot, characters. Having trouble figuring out how to start and dialogue but its starting to feel slightly more comfortable. I've never written any fiction before only random technical reports and analysis type stuff.

Here's a trick you can try. Start a diary. This will force you to write something every day. Try to write down any amusing anecdotes or snippets of conversation you encounter. Then you can work those into your dialogue and plot lines. Write what you know.

I don't have any rigid hours or word goals. I forced myself to write daily, at the same time every day, early on. It became easier after that.

That's a good idea, thanks. I'll keep plugging away - the good news is I have a pretty strong idea of the plot of the story, just need to figure out how to translate that into a well written book.

When will we see a novel based on the BPB threads?

Congrats on the new book! Five books is an awesome accomplishment. I love meeting fellow writers and I'll check out the books.
