I had no idea who that guy is and wouldn’t have known unless it is brought up on these boards.
They just don’t matter to me.

This topic should forever be stickied. We are intentionally being set up with twats who don't give two shits about Auburn.

So why not let it go instead of pinning it at the top of the board.

Aahem, lol, my first job was delivering the OA news to about 150 neighbors and friends in my heyday. I saved my money and paid for two trips to Mexico in high school with it. Take pity family - what can you really expect from the OA news? Thank you, long-time subscribers. WDE.

Really shitty audience then. It’s just sad. Just imagine if you lived in another country where you wearing or sporting the country flag is racist or politically charged movement in a negative way. Lots of countries have harsh punishments for not supporting the country among other things that is accepted here in the US. I just can’t stand how sensitive our society is and folks do not realize how good they have it in this country. There is nothing fricking wrong with sporting your country’s flag and does not mean there is some statement being made by it other than the love for ones country. Can’t stand the media. They are a cancer to society.

You guys take things a little too literally sometimes
I doubt a media company in rural Alabama is finding a large anti-flag audience to pander to. And I highly doubt they'd want to try.
We can say people don't give a shite about this stuff but that's clearly not true. A reporter that nobody here follows has a link to his twitter page and a couple of pages of discussion about him. The engagement off that one tweet alone is probably more than he'd get on all of his tweets over a month or two's span. What I'm pointing out is that there's tremendous interest in how the US flag is used in football games and media is going to cover that topic because of that.
The original question was why our beat writers suck so much. My personal opinion is that it's probably the audience that sucks. We click on sports media related links that discuss a pregame photograph at tenfold the rates of the recaps and interviews. We interact with the shite about a QB from California saying "ya'll" or a reporter mad about some free hats. That's what most readers end up reading even when they say it's not what they want
It's also why like this board. Most posters here participate because they're looking for information and discussion beyond what an article will provide. I get bitched at often, especially in the recruiting thread, because I don't tolerate the outside the lines stuff very well and it's because this space has great potential to be better than that - and selfishly, I like to use this space as a refuge from it.
Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk

Why do you guys isolate things out of context? Do you get distracted and not read the rest or it didn’t make sense?
TLDR: If the audience is just clicking on the shitty drama shite then the audience sucks
Guess that’s a hot take in today’s world where personal accountability is non existent.
It’s like the people that sue McDonalds for getting fat. You dumbass, stop eating that food

The rest of it was no better.
Jeff Lee provided the picture. Audience doesn’t suck for liking that Harsin will carry the flag during the entrance
Justin rode his douche canoe over Lee’s picture. And it’s somehow not Justin that sucks but the audience. That’s nuts. Claiming the audience wanted Justin to do that is just as absurd

This would make sense if people actually went to Justin Lee donalds for his shite takes. However most here don’t even bring AL.com to the rant. You know that right? Do you know why? Because we try to avoid it.
Reacting to something doesn’t mean the audience suck.
That’s like me responding to your shite takes right now. I cannot just ban myself from the Rant or any kind of reaction just because you’re on some weird tangent.

I don’t know what to tell you, Janga. Justin Lee is capitalizing on people’s incessant interest in flag drama because people eat it up. He’s keeping a conversation alive that gets clicks because most of the audience prefers it over actual football talk and my evidence is the fact that the damn tweet is the only successful engagement he’s had all summer
I don’t read his stuff either but it’s hard for me to place all the blame on him when we live in a society that reads his flag drama at 100x the rate of his football information
But like I said, we don’t like to blame ourselves anymore.

Ah. You’ve mistaken what I’m meaning by audience. I’m talking about a wide, wide section of people that include the Twitter idiots, al.com readers, basically anyone that could possibly interact with Auburn sports media.
There’s portions of that pie that are smart consumers and I consider most people here to be part of that. And there’s a reason why we don’t hear about that guy and Goodman here very often. My guess is that we’re the exception and not the rule. Im not calling you dumb or the board dumb. But there’s a ton of dumb people out there and they gobble that shite up
Have you met me? I’ve been going on weird tangents for 12 years here

People react to out of the ordinary stuff. That’s human nature. There are objective reporters out there that get the clicks. Joel Erickson did. Justin Ferguson can. KN can, and he’s probably closer to a Florida fan. Stop normalizing reporters acting like douches as if it’s part of the job.
Justin Lee is just a pussy that complained about having to cover Harsin’s introductory press conference when it wasn’t convenient. I don’t know why you defend these pussy reporters like you do.

Look, I’m not celebrating it. But look at all you’ve pointed on that stupid reporters are doing. It’s a new normal

I’m definitely not defending Justin Lee. I’m not a fan of his. Outside of Ferg + 247 I only see this other stuff when it’s brought here. I loved the Auburn + US flag leading the way onto the field. I’ve got family actively in the military and I, as much as anyone, owe my success and fortune to this country.
My tangent is about sports society as a whole drifting further away from X’s and O’s and toward politics, fashion, causes, sneakers, who people are fricking, and so on. And I’m bitter that more sports media space is being dedicated to that while sites I pay for won’t even cover Auburn basketball recruiting.
As usual, I think we agree but have different views on why we agree on it
