1. After the season.
2. After the best players in the portal have already made their choices.
3. After all the really good coaches have signed fat extensions with their current schools.
4. After we look like idiots for conducting a 4 month search.
THEN
This mess of an administration will hire a boring middle aged white “mid level” coach that we are supposed to get excited about.
Wash rinse repeat.
It’s a testament to how great Auburn actually is - that we still break through and will championships despite the terrible decisions.

Agreed but Prime will probably want to get through the SWAC Championship game a give the school the undefeated season.
That game is Dec 3rd, same as the SEC Title game.
I could see Auburn announce him (or Lane) on the 27th since Sunday isnt a practice day, and let him coach that game a week later before diving full time into Auburn.
And Prime strikes me as a dude who could easily multi-task during the week, i.e. practice and game plan for their opponent while recruiting for Auburn.

I disagree with all of that. For the first time in a while, it seems like we're at a point where change is going to occur. New Pres, new AD, new coach. Feels like this is the perfect opportunity for everyone to get in lock-step with each other

I think that is the plan. Plus the BOT and boosters and I think we get that this time. All seem to be pulling in the same direction. They all know aTm is trying to flex their money. Texas and Okie are coming into the conference. We want to set ourselves up to be in the top 4 in the conference in coaching, recruiting, NIL, facilities by end of 2024.

While Auburn might be fine (or great) with that timeline, if he wants to get back into the college ranks, why would he not wait to see what other jobs might come open.
If he wants to coach here I can’t think of a better time to start.
