quote:Lot of weaknesses on the defensive side of the ball. K Scott, J Thompson, LBs in coverage. Early in the year i was screaming that Sylvester Smith should never see the field again, yet by the end of the season, he held his own.
I will readily admit I'm not watching film or rewatching enough to critique individual unit play so maybe you are right there. That said, the production did not get better.
Lot of freshman played this year and the old saying goes, for every freshman you have to start, add a loss to the schedule. We started a LOT of freshmen. Next year we will start a LOT of freshmen.
The damage Harsin did to this program was brutal. He gutted our talent, shipped our best Qb to Oregon in exchange for Robby Ashford, and ran our program into the ground.
Its going to take years to build it back to where its respectable again. Sucks

Thanks for the book of text. I glanced of some of that and it sounds like you’re making accept losing.
Auburn is a top 15 winningest program.

You cannot win without a QB. We struggled through the development of Nix, with shite OL recruiting under Gus and Potato man ran him off for his two elite years at Oregon. Freeze made a fatal decision in Thorne and then doubled down not replacing him in the portal this past off-season. I blame Freeze for several terrible game plans and a handful of poor play calls like the half back toss bs today, but Thorne has no heart, flees from the pocket and cannot read a defense. The guy is afraid to be hit. How bad was our kicking game this year? I can’t remember a worse special teams season.
Ole Miss wins 8 games a year, it is not unreasonable for us to consistently have a better program than them.
My understanding is that the money is already there for the best portal QB we can convince to come for next year. We are going to need to buy a few OL, as well. I’m quickly losing patience with Freeze, he better strike gold in the portal.

UF and SC are turning the corner in year three. Freeze is in year two. Of those two, neither has recruited as well as Freeze, and both struggled to find a solution at QB - recall some guy named Robbie Ashford got snaps for SC? Both those guys started with a more complete roster too, not effectively missing one entire recruiting class as we were.
Don't start with "but poooorrrtal players". Most of the time, you are taking a guy who wasn't starting at a P5 school or a guy who performed well at a G5 school, he's just more physically mature than a HS kid, but seldom will he he All-SEC. We got two guys in KLS and Jerrin from PSU and Texas who got a lot of PT, but they were the exceptions.
You can't build an all star team that way. OM played one of the softest schedules in the SEC and lost three, then they lose 28 xfer players to eligibility this year and have very few 1st/2nd year guys coming up in their two deep to fill those holes.
I agree completely that Freeze has to git-r-done next year. In the meantime, paint a smile on your face and tell recruits how great it is to be an Auburn Tiger!
