He doesnt even think he fits into the alter category even though
-people figured out who was behind his new handle before he admitted to anybody
-he circumvented a banned account.

Yes, I guess some would, but I'd rather get it out in the open here and be done with it and let the chips fall where they may. That's better than hiding or slinking away, shirking responsibility imo.
I'm pleading my case to those who make the decisions here, and I'm fine with that and whatever verdict is rendered.

But you've never been one or walked a step in those shoes. No one sets out to become an addict on purpose. It's a process from moderate use, to habitual use, to excessive use, to abuse and addiction and loss of control. Lots of people suffer. Lots of guilt. I'm sorry that you have had to deal with addicts your whole life. I know exactly what that is like. Addiction is a disease, whether it be alcohol / drugs (nicotine, caffeine included), gambling, sex, gaming, obesity / bulemia, etc. We are all imperfect humans. But as my Mom constantly reminds me "where there is life, there is hope." I have come really, really close to being dead. Experiences like that change perspectives and priorities. I would be, if not for my dog.
ETA to Jonesy. I am an alcoholic in recovery, but nowhere close to a deadbeat. a-hole (even though I know you are far from it). Sounds like a you problem. Will repeat again I am truly sorry you have had bad experiences in the past with deadbeats, but don't judge me as one based on your unfortunate experiences. That's a pretty shitty take imo. Please be a little better Jonesy. I'm trying - I deserve the benefit of the doubt, at least once, and that is all I am asking for. Maybe I will impress you - there is a first time for everything. If I don't, I'll permaban myself;-).
There is a line from Jeff Bridges in the Fisher King that has always stuck in my mind. "You are either a smoker, or you are not". I smoke, but don't drink. I can't. I’m an alcoholic.
One of the first things you are told in rehab is that drug addiction and continued abuse will lead to only two ends - death or prison. I've found that to be true and don't prefer either of them. Regards and
