This here. I liked Gus for the most part, but his pressers were Coachspeak 401. I've also said before that OL, moreso than any other one thing, was his undoing. Harsin, I don't even know what the hell was going on, in terms of recruiting and coaching, and I won't venture a guess. But his pressers were merely stern lectures about "changing the culture" and his mythical multi-point process for getting Auburn back into contention -- which I would still really love to see a copy of.
Hugh, OTOH, is being very frank about state we're in, our needs, the "big boys up the road", and what he's looking for. And he's made the trenches his #1 priority. I don't ever expect a coach to share everything they are thinking, but he has been more frank and detailed about things than I'm used to hearing from an Auburn coach. Today when questioned during the presser, he asked someone behind the curtain if he could go ahead and announce the ST coach. Gus or Harsin would have trotted out some non-answer cloak and dagger bullshite at a question like that.
I was not a fan of the Hugh hire, but guy is really doing a respectable job so far.
