He said the long pass into double coverage was a bad decision but otherwise played well. He didn't say the 1st interception was good or bad.
Hindsight tells us the 1st interception was a poor decision but it did hit the receiver first.

Maybe after a deflection.

Our starting defense is as good as any out there but if our offense can't figure out an identity quickly it is not going to matter.

Did he really say it wasn't a bad decision?
Might want to watch that press conference again bud.

Problem is I provided a picture that shows a deflection is more probable than hitting the shoulder first. Which receiver in the SEC tries to catch the ball with their shoulder pad?

Stat Tiger freezes it when it hits his hands. Im sure they've seen it but hate to admit i was right
1.I thought it was the shoulder pad
2. I can clearly see the DB's hand all in the vicinity
3. I gave you a still shot of exactly that shot as well.

Looks like it hits the WR in the hands.
Yeah I think it hit him in the hands while the opponent obstructed his view or something. The opponent probably also factored into the ball tipping up. shite like that factors into that throw. Look at Thorne out of bounds right here. He easily threw across the body trying to squeeze it in for receiver that had a defender draped all over him at the 9-o clock like white on rice in a snowstorm. It was even a good pass. It still ended up picked because the opponent was not brain dead.

Your pick shows the ball at the receiver. It would be impossible for him to be going out of bounds at the throw and the ball hitting the receiver at the same time.

He was going out of bounds when he threw it. The great thing about ESPN is you can scrub the feedback of the video just like that and see for yourself. In that picture his arm is literally still cross his body. what makes you think that is good form?
I agree with weagle it wasnt the worst decision as he was just trying to make a play, but that play is actually frowned upon. Ashford threw one across the body the week before and he almost had it picked off as well...Well this time we were on the 6 yard line.

And for those that act like that interception is just a part of letting the cannon loose then I submit we need to start running that bitch.
That was play 15 or 16. If we were running that ball like North and South, downhill Jesus wanted us to, the defenders would already be dead and waving the white flag by then.

quote]Describe both interceptions please.
To me, it looked like he threw into a crowd both plays.
We have to value the ball to compete.[/quote]
We were clearly working on our passing and decision making. 6 of the first 7 plays were passes. We could have won that game running every play.
On the first pick, we ran 3 straight pass plays inside the 5 yard line. It was clear to Samford that we weren't going to run the ball so they were in dime. The play call was a roll to the boundary with a two receiver pattern. Thorne threw to the more open receiver trying to score. IMO, he should have thrown it away and I think he does against better competition.
The second pick was Thorne rushing himself. He still had another couple of seconds in the pocket, but he threw a gamble. #14 was wide arse open on the cross.

Finally got to watch the game last night. Montgomery needs to scrap the bunch sets, especially in short yardage situations. I saw people blaming the Oline, but most of the penetration was from the TEs not blocking. The same thing happened in the Cal game.
