Last post regarding Covid and sorry that I did more than my share to help derail a once promising thread, but as I tend to harp on the value of perspective, I believe and hope that at least one person will find something of value in what I am going to share. No Jang, everyone, I am not "where I am from listening to Fauchi" regarding Covid, but from experiencing the Pandemic and approaches to dealing with Covid here in Japan. Now I am not too good with math, but please allow me to share some data / numbers and a few other things comparing Japan and the USA with regards to Covid to add some perspective. Please bear with me. I think ballpark figures will suffice. Off the top of my head, I believe the population of the US is somewhere around 320,000,000. The population of Japan is at around 130,000,000. Let's just round it off and say that Japan's population is very roughly 1/3 that of the US. In terms of land area, Japan is roughly 1/25th the size of the US, almost exactly the same size as California. Furthermore, as Japan is a very mountainous country, roughly 80% of land area here is uninhabitable. What this all means is that here in Japan, 130,000,000 people (or again, very roughly 1/3rd the population of the US) are packed and living together in very close proximity to each other in an area 1/5th the size of California. I hope this is easy enough to follow. Put another way, it stands to reason beyond doubt that all things considered, Japan should statistically have experienced much higher transmission and death rates from Covid than the US, but this is not the case at all. As of 2 days ago, Japan's cumulative Covid-related death toll and transmissions stood at 9.73 million cases, and 31,433 deaths, as compared to US data of 88.6 million cases, and 1,020,000 deaths. These are the numbers, and they clearly show that lots of shite is fricked up in the US, in particular, regarding Covid. Again, just rounding numbers and all things accounted for, generously, America's death rate Covid related is an order of magnitude, or over 10X higher than that of Japan.

So I ask you all to please consider these things and ask yourselves why this is our reality. Please. Is Japan's healthcare system THAT much better than America's? Well, for one, Japan does have a great national public health insurance system, as does virtually every other advanced nation on earth, but that comes nowhere close to explaining how, to put it in US terms, that roughly 1/3 of the US population living in a area 1/5th the size of California has only experienced 31,433+ deaths from Covid. This...is insane, it is heart-breaking, and I do not care to post anything else Covid-related, but I truly hope that my / our experience trying to deal with Covid here might give my fellow Americans pause to rethink and reconsider things from different perspectives. War Eagle to all, stay safe, God bless, and love thy neighbor. "What's good for my neighbor is good for me." Now, let's put this behind us and get behind CBH. Happy WDE Day to each and every member of my AU Family.

No apologies necessary. Each of us has to do what we believe is right and that depends on individual circumstances. I don't wear a mask and am unvaccinated but I live in the country with the nearest neighbor a mile away. There is a world of difference between my situation and yours. If I was in your situation I might think and act differently.

No Bro, I am sitting next to you in your boat. I also am unvaccinated, but 99% sure that I was infected during my most recent trip the Philippines, during the weeks that Covid broke out. Two days after I returned home here, I broke out in a 103-104 degree fever and was useless, scared, fricking hurting for 3-4 days, as did my homestay guest, a 23 year old young strapling who had also visited several Asian countries for several weeks following his passion for Yoga and chance of a lifetime, maybe, to "do Asia". He and returned to Japan on the same day - Indonesia was his final stop and port of departure, and Cebu and Manila, Philippines was mine. We both came back sick as fricking shite with something like the worst flu ever. And there we were, experiencing Covid first hand before anyone, most anyone knew what it was.

Since we’re here, let’s have some fun. Thoughts on claims that it’s not in fact respiratory, but transmitted via drinking water in a strategic fashion…and that its structure is similar to snake venom?

I tend to concur with the theory that it’s primarily spread through aerosolized fecal contamination.

Stay away from public bathrooms and always keep your hands clean and you’re far less likely to contract it.
