Not everyone born here is a red neck (and i'd like to avoid singling these people out becuase i don't dislike someone because they're a red neck we just typcially don't have an abundance of things in common). And lots of us don't wnat to leave just because of who is next door. Also I think his comment was a lot more light hearted than you're taking it. And the truth to it is I too don't really want anyone to have the moniker of representing me because that puts me into a mold i may not fit.
