How can you say he is set up to fail now, when HE is the one who wants to stay and fought to stay. He's not stupid, he knows what''s in front of him, and he was allowed to stay.

To be clear I'm not saying that he doesn't have fault for the state of the program and the situation he's in. There are 2 parts IMO - (1) absurd coaching turnover, players leaving, poor recruiting and (2) the situation worsening due to this situation the past couple of weeks.

In my view it's the coach's responsibility to foster relationships with admin, boosters, fans, players, coaches, recruits, etc... all indications are Harsin has completely botched that. It seems irreparable now and that's what I meant by "set up to fail". I didn't mean the school set him up from the start or something like that.

He has $20mm reasons to fight to stay. Of course he would fight to get that buyout.

What I dislike is that these infidelity rumors were started about the guy. I don't think they were started by some ominous CEO "PTB" worth $100mm+ dollars, or the university itself, but by fans.

what scandal?

Somebody (likely a poster on this board) fabricated an affair Harsin was having by looking up personnel records and seeing a young woman was retained from Boise to Auburn. He then leaked the fabrication to the media.

I wanted Harsin gone and hoped the PTB was right. Sue me.

After our second straight losing season you people will either wise up by then or you will delusionally say “3-9 with a new culture is still better than 8-4 with Gus.”

It was Gus's fault we had a shite QB and Oline situation. Why put that on Harsin?

You brought it up though talking about his first year record.

Harsin's first year was destined to be what it was with that offense he inherited. None of us were surprised. That's why pretty much everyone said give him a few years.

I was pleasantly surprised on how decent our defense was. And with most of them staying on board, I think that's a good sign. Offense is a complete rebuild and will probably be worse next year.

Auburn football is fricked up so bad, I don't know when the program will be good again. All this drama lately is going to take a long time to recover from.
