South Alabama this year and New Mexico St a couple years ago would beg to differ.
I know they arent FCS teams but they're still "cupcakes/buy-a-win teams scheduled for auto wins.
But the fact that they aren't FCS teams is a pretty big deal. Again: 73-3 vs. Alabama A&M. New Mexico State in particular was a "good" FBS cupcake opponent. There is a big difference between Mercer and NM State.
I'm just saying that they really didn't play any differently than how they realistically should have vs. Mercer. Mercer has a good offense that was giving us some trouble early, but their defense looked like an FCS defense against a talented SEC roster: completely overmatched.

We did what we should have done. Butbit is also more than that….If nothing else the last two games gives the offense some life and momentum. It has shown them that they can. They needed confidence.
I have zero belief we would have been in the game against Vandy with CHF calling the game- or whatever he was doing. I also don’t believe we would have done what we should have done against an FCS opponent today.
August 2024 and November 2025 are different things.

We won the game with a true freshman starting his first game. We didn’t give up a single point after halftime. It’s something to grow on and get excited about heading into the iron bowl.

Agreed. It was a fun game.
For those that missed it, Aubie had a banana and had a gorilla chasing him all first half

Watching Vandy absolutely destroy Kentucky is really making me sad. Imagine if we had an offense all year what we could have had.

Agreed. These last two weeks have been fun and also very discouraging
