thank you for this video, amazing to watch & see/hear a family members name called a few times.. that 57' defense was STRONG.

A guy on the '57 team used to run a grocery store in my hometown. If you went in there on a Saturday in the fall, he had Jim Fyffe and the AU radio network blaring the game over the speakers.

My Grandfather recruited that team.

I had the opportunity to sit and visit with Shug and Granddad. I was there to walk on.

They both claimed the 56 team was the better team. "All we had to do was tell them what time to catch the bus. No coaching needed." I laughed and said "I'll bet they got yelled at the most."

GrandDad asked about what he expected from the 1972 team. "We'll be lucky to win three"

They lost to LSU 35-7......the only loss of the season.

Blew out my knee sliding into second base, being scouted for the second time by the Phillies.....Birmingham Travel League 18-21 summer team ....
