247 2023 Blue Chip Rosters

Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Texas A&M, Clemson, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon, Notre, Dame, Florida, Miami, Penn State, Michigan, USC and Auburn.

I know we were at the bottom of this list last year I believe, but with the roster turnover you have to really give Hugh and staff credit. 51% vs the 70% plus group isn’t the same, but it is something to build on.

So "Blue Chips" are players who were highly rated recruits. I'm surprised we made this list, and ironically we will be very dependent on guys who weren't blue chippers (thank you portal)..... unless they consider our portal signees based on their transfer ranking and not their high school ranking.

If they only consider high school rankings, then that bodes well for us. It means we have a lot of four stars, and thanks to the portal, a high percentage of non-blue-chippers that are very good players.

I quickly read the article, but they did include transfer portal ranking this year for the first time. I’m pretty sure they used the portal recruit ranking vs HS which would probably explain how we still managed to make the list. When I clicked on this earlier today, I did not expect to see AU.

This is the worst % we had in the last 3 years thank to harsin. Gus recruited well ( except ol).

Right, if you were part of the original discussion you would know my reference is mostly Harsin, but that bad OL recruiting by Gus made the gap worse each year. You can’t close any gap with bad OL play, I don’t care how many 4 and 5 stars you get. This current ranking is just the start to get back to competing.

Now Hugh and crew need to continue to build from here. We are fortunate to even be on that chart after what Harsin did, or more accurately, didn’t do.

I read the article and it actually does not include transfers in the BCR this year. Bud said he is still evaluating it and needs more data in the future. At the bottom of the article it actually shows what the ratio would look like if transfers were included and Auburn actually drops out falling from 51% to 47%.

I'm very surprised we still made this list with the poor recruiting and number of guys we have had leave the program, but I do think it bodes well for us this year. As someone else mentioned, we got a lot of transfers that not only plugged holes in our roster but are going to start over other blue chip guys.
