Auburn could be on verge of big recruiting push in Georgia (Rivals)
Pretty confident Simpson is the one with his mind made up based off what KN & Wolk have been saying
Trying really hard not to get my hopes up but chance by end of May 5th we could have Pappoe, Morris, Simpson & Sheffield all on board which would be huge. After getting butt whooped in GA last year by Dawgs this would be a nice response
quote:
Gus Malzahn is famous for saying “boom” whether it’s when his offense makes a big play or when he gets recruiting news that gets him excited.
He let a boom out Tuesday after Jakai Clark committed to Auburn and more booms from the Peach State could be on the way.
Clark is a 6-foot-2, 306-pound center out of Loganville (Ga.) Grayson and Malzahn and his staff hope they aren’t done there as Auburn is in the thick of the race for two of Clark's teammates, linebacker Owen Pappoe and offensive tackle Wanya Morris. The pair spent multiple days on the Plains last week before taking an official visit to LSU over the weekend. They are expected to announce their commitments in May, with Georgia being Auburn's biggest competition for Pappoe and Tennessee being the other main contender for Morris.
It looked to be all Georgia with Pappoe up until the last month or so. Auburn has really made this a tight race, and some even feel the Tigers have become the team to beat. Tennessee had the edge for Morris too, but this one has gotten interesting as well.
Kenyon Jackson and Kenyatta Watson are two other four-star prospects from Grayson that Auburn is in on. The Tigers have turned it up a little with Watson knowing he is leaning toward Notre Dame and Texas. Right now, Auburn is on the outside looking in there. He will likely decide around the same time as Pappoe and Morris.
Jackson will visit Texas officially at the end of April. He has his eye on Texas A&M, too. Jackson had a strong connection with Jimbo Fisher when Fisher was at Florida State, so keep an eye on the Aggies here.
It doesn’t stop there.
Auburn recently had Jashawn Sheffield and Jaylon Simpson, two four-star athletes out of Saint Simons Island (Ga.) Frederica Academy on campus for what was apparently a game-changing visit.
The Tigers are now the team to beat for both and word from a close source is that one’s mind is already completely made up. A decision by one, if not both, could happen within the next month.
There could be many others mentioned, but here are five more to watch.
Justin Eboigbe is a strongside end out of Forest Park (Ga.) and he has taken a couple of visits to Auburn in 2018. He may be from the Peach State, but his favorite school growing up was Auburn.
Tyler Fromm is an athletic tight end from Warner Robins (Ga.) who was back on the Plains Saturday for the program's spring game. He is the younger brother of Georgia starting quarterback Jake Fromm, so he knows what Auburn and SEC football is all about. The Tigers could be the team to beat here.
Ramel Keyton is a Rivals250 wide receiver out of Marietta (Ga.) that is high on Auburn. He was the spring game Saturday and the Tigers have been high on his list for some time. Their biggest competition at this time could be Tennessee, but he is another one to track.
Jammie Robinson of Cordele (Ga.) Crisp County is a former teammate of Markaviest Bryant, an Auburn defensive end. South Carolina may be the favorite, but Auburn is right there with Georgia and a few others close to the top of his list.
Colby Wooden is a teammate of Booth’s at Archer and he has become a priority for Auburn on the defensive line. Wooden is an edge rusher with length and constant motor that schools love and he was on the Plains Friday and Saturday.
And if you want to look ahead to 2020, Kobe Hudson of Lagrange (Ga.) Troup County will announce his decision later this month and it will be Alabama, Auburn, Florida State or Georgia. Auburn has been trending, so keep an eye on that one.
Things could be about to get very exciting for Tiger fans on the Peach State recruiting trail.

WR Jadon Haselwood --> UGA but don't sleep on AU
Mikecb22 on the bunker seems to know things from time to time and acc'd to him AU is no sure thing to flip him, but Kirby does not like how often Kodi and Haselwood talk.

KN says Kobe Hudson visiting again today
Posted on 4/14/18 at 3:57 pm to TigerPaw1
Commit watch or no? I know he's supposed to be committing soon either way.
Posted on 4/14/18 at 6:01 pm to jt33
If he commits April 27th it will more than likely be AU. UGA 247 says he doesn't plan to commit soon but KN was told by Hudson he's committing 27th
Also pretty big news KN CB'd Justin Eboigbe to AU today

So Jlee did a Spring hot board for O & D. The %s don't matter because it early & well... it's JLee. I thought it worth sharing # per position projections as for what Auburn would take though. Not saying it's any better than the #s Paw has near the beginning of the thread. Just interesting to see a different perspective.
QB: 1
RB: 1-2
WR: 2
TE: 1-2
OT: 2-3
OG & C: 3
DT: 2-3
SDE: 2
WDE/Buck: 2
LB: 3-4
CB: 2-3
S: 2-3
Total projection would be a minimum of 23.

KN put up article on Hudson today. Hudson confirmed plan is still to commit April 27th. Called AU visit at least a 10. Spent most of the day with Kodi Burns. No scheduled visit for next weekend yet

My numbers are a complete guess at this point. As we get a more firm picture of what the final number will be I will update the post. KN seems to think it will be closer to 20 as of now

Defensive end target Jaren Handy updates Auburn’s status among leaders (SECCountry)
Really worried Bama is just gonna take everybody from MS. They feel good about Nathan Pickering, Nakobe Dean & Jaren Handy right now. Already have Brandon Turnage committed. Want one of those guys at least. Handy might help us flip Charles Moore tho Moorehead is off to a strong start on the trail so far

Jaren Handy wants to stay patient with decision
Jaren Handy wants to take a step back.
It’s been a busy few months for the defensive end from Mississippi. Handy committed and de-committed from LSU earlier this spring, wishing to slow down the process. After his Auburn visit, he labeled those Tigers as his No. 1 school. But he’s started taking more visits to places such as Ole Miss and Alabama, and he realizes he doesn’t want to name leaders on a regular basis throughout his recruitment.
“I don’t want to change it every time I visit a different school, so I don’t want to name a leader. Everyone is equal. This is my first time experiencing all of this, so everything is going to look pretty good,” Handy told SEC Country.
That doesn’t take away from the love he has for Auburn.
His relationship with area recruiter Marcus Woodson is still one of the strongest in the country.
He has several close connections at Ole Miss, too, and the in-state pull is there. Handy also takes this step back coming off his Alabama visit. The Crimson Tide impressed the 6-foot-5, 290-pound defensive end. Along with potentially Florida, Handy said those three programs are the likeliest to receive official visits.
His decision to eliminate leaders from his recruitment isn’t meant to be a knock on the Tigers, simply a different approach to his process.
“I just had to think on it some more. I don’t want to put a team over another team and then go to another school and feel better about them than I did with Auburn. I’m just going to wait it out now,” Handy said.

Auburn hosted 3 top targets over weekend, including upcoming commitment decision (SECCountry)
quote:
Auburn grabbed some 2019 momentum last week when Grayson (Ga.) guard Jakai Clark committed. Over the weekend, the Tigers emphasized future recruiting classes.
Three names to remember from the 2020 and 2021 classes were on campus on Saturday. Here’s the latest on each of those recruitments.
Posted on 4/16/18 at 7:21 am to TigerPaw1
quote:
2020 WR Kobe Hudson, Troup County (Ga.): Hudson is the No. 52 overall prospect and the 11th-ranked wide receiver. He’s set for a big upcoming decision. Hudson was scheduled to announce Friday, but he pushed that date back two weeks to April 27, he told SEC Country last week. That move didn’t mean anything more than it giving him an opportunity to take a few more visits — including this one to the Plains — and allow a few friends and family to be around for the announcement. He still hasn’t confirmed if he’ll do a ceremony at his high school — as he planned before — or in a different format. Auburn sits in strong position here because of Gus Malzahn’s personal prioritization of Hudson, but Georgia, Alabama and Florida State will keep pushing hard prior to the decision, and certainly after it, as well.
Posted on 4/16/18 at 7:22 am to TigerPaw1
quote:
2020 WR Jacob Freeman, Callaway (Ga.): Freeman is the No. 363 overall prospect and the 70th-ranked wide receiver. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound receiver from Hogansville, Ga., already holds offers from Baylor, Louisville, Michigan State, Ole Miss and Oregon. Auburn hasn’t joined that group yet, but it wouldn’t be surprising if that were to change soon. The Tigers are recruiting several prospects from Callaway, including 2019 guard Keiondre Jones and 2020 running back Tank Bigsby.
Posted on 4/16/18 at 7:22 am to TigerPaw1
quote:
2021 RB Charlie Dixon, Callaway (Ga.): Dixon isn’t ranked yet, but it’s early for the 2021 rankings. That will change. Dixon has been to Auburn a few times in the last year, typically with 2019 teammate Keiondre Jones during the season. Dixon is a 6-foot-2 and 200-pound running back in a crowded backfield with Bigsby, one of the top overall athletes in the 2020 class. Auburn is making a point to hit the Callaway High School talent pool. Freeman and Dixon are just the most recent two.

AU made top 5 for 4* CB Marcus Banks. Expected to take an OV later this spring
Posted on 4/16/18 at 7:27 am to TigerPaw1
Pappoe told Barton Simmons he already knows he's going to commit to & that it's "very clear". He didn't say who was his leader tho (that's a chance has been public in past about UGA being ahead). AU is selling need hard to Pappoe & he's listening. Also is close with Travis Williams but says that it's not just T-WILL that talks to him regularly. Marcus Woodson, Kodi Burns & Gus Malzahn also communicate regularly with Pappoe. He also likes fact he feels like he's a good fit in our scheme after sitting down with Kevin Steele & T-WILL. He's not sure yet if he will visit AU again before making decision.
