Early look at expected Auburn visitors this weekend
The state of Mississippi has as much talent as it’s had in a long time. That’s been proven this spring with several Auburn visitors coming from Alabama’s neighboring state, including Handy and Moore. Auburn won’t be letting up in its push for Mississippi prospects anytime soon, either.
Two more big Mississippi targets are expected on campus this upcoming weekend:
4-star cornerback Brandon Turnage, Oxford, Miss.
4-star outside linebacker Derick Hall, Gulfport, Miss.
Turnage last visited Auburn for its February junior day. He remains committed to Alabama, but as he said in the article linked here, Turnage expects to make a few return visits to Auburn and others. Remember, he had a strong interest in the Tigers well before his recruitment picked up, calling Auburn his “dream school” after his last visit.
As for Hall, I’m told he’s the top Buck target on Auburn’s board right now. Hall stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 215 pounds, with an athletic basketball skill set that translates well to pass rushing. He’ll be making his second visit this spring this upcoming weekend. Auburn is battling it out with Ole Miss and Mississippi State for Hall. You can read my most recent full update on Hall from last week.
Big to get Turnage back on campus

Auburn not recruiting Jackon-Olin (Ala.) LB hard — yet
Vonta Bentley is Jackson-Olin High School’s highly recruited representative in the 2019 class. In 2017, it was TD Moultry. In 2018, it was Coynis Miller. Clearly, Auburn has had a great deal of success attracting the top prospects from the Birmingham-area high school.
That trend may change in 2019 with Bentley — at least based on the Tigers’ recruiting efforts so far.
Bentley spoke with SEC Country after a strong Atlanta Opening performance. Currently, Clemson is his leader based on regularity of interaction, which he says is every day. Auburn sits behind both Alabama and Clemson in terms of how hard it’s pushing for Bentley.
“I can’t say right now [where they stand] because Auburn’s not showing me as much attention as Clemson. Auburn’s not on that level with Clemson,” Bentley said. “Clemson is. Alabama’s No. 2.They’re showing me a lot of attention, love, family.”
It’s not that communication is nonexistent between Auburn and Bentley. It’s just not as consistent as with Clemson and Alabama.
Bentley still thinks highly of linebackers coach Travis Williams, who has given him positive reviews in the past.
“I like Auburn Coach T-Will. He’s hyped up about me,” Bentley said. “I would say with them, it’s just attention based. They treat you like family down there, but I just need to communicate more.”
Auburn has a few other top linebacker targets its after right now. But it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Tigers crank up their efforts with Bentley because of the Jackson-Olin connection and the recruiting push from two of Auburn’s biggest recruiting rivals.
AU seems to be prioritizing out of state LBs this class. Not really pushing hard for Bentley, Abrams or Sims

quote:Agreed but remember my original post and the original post on this topic did not say a word about Bama. It was talking about "the Auburn Drop" which is a myth. We don't get the bumps on a whole like Bama but we do get our fair share of bumps.
There is still some merit with the veracity of the bumps.
Auburn tends to get the guys that were 3* bumped up to fringe or just inside of the top 250 types.
Bama, on the other hand, tend to get the inside of the top 100 bump.
There is definitely a difference.

Sure but I don't think that has to be at the expense of instate guys. I get being patient with Abrams & Sims but to me Bentley is a top talent. Could be that staff doesn't think he's that serious about AU which is why they aren't pushing. We will see, wouldn't be surprised if our recruitment of him picks up
Also still waiting to see what our "national" LB recruiting looks like. I guess recruiting Mississippi & Louisiana harder means we are expanding our reach but outside of DeGabriel Floyd not really seeing us push for anybody outside of the southeast.

Caldwell has article up on 4* LB Ge'mon Eaford. He named AU is his #1 team after visiting this past weekend. Says #1 thing he loves about AU is the people. Enjoyed watching the scrimmage especially seeing how well our defense played. Also likes idea he would have a chance to challenge for early PT. Has commit date set for August 25th & will take an OV to AU. Oklahoma & LSU are his other top teams

Top DB target Jammie Robinson recaps visit; two south Georgia teammates set overnight visit this week (SECCountry)
Pretty sure SCAR is team to beat in this recruitment

4-star DB Jammie Robinson recaps Auburn visit
AUBURN, Ala. — Jammie Robinson comes from a high school with a recent history of producing standout defensive prospects.
The Crisp County (Ga.) defensive back was high school teammates with Auburn defensive lineman Big Kat Bryant and Georgia linebacker signee Quay Walker. For that reason, college programs have been exposed to Robinson for several years now, which is why he’s accrued an offer sheet of Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Clemson and others.
Robinson has considered committing at certain times throughout the process, but he’s thought better of it every time. He wants to be patient. That’s why most of his time this year has been spent in the gym or on the practice field. Robinson hasn’t been a regular recruiting visitor this spring.
He’s returned the recruiting scene some in the last few weeks. Robinson has taken visits to South Carolina, Georgia and Auburn so far this year. He hopes to make it to Florida and Florida State in the not-too-distant future.
Auburn was his most recent destination point. He checked out a Tuesday practice that reaffirmed how he feels about the Tigers.
“[Recruiting], it’s picking back up because it’s about that time to make a decision. It’s getting close to the time to eliminate some schools and keep some schools in the mix,” Robinson told SEC Country. “They really wanted me to get out and watch the guys move around and show me I have the opportunity to come in and play early. That’s pretty much it. I always like it at Auburn.”
Robinson measured in at 5-foot-11 and 194 pounds on his trip. He has the versatility to play corner or safety, but the Tigers see him as a potential nickel option in the future. The Cordele, Ga., standout has been to Auburn countless times in the last two years for games, events and 1-on-1 visits.
Robinson is a clear priority target for the Tigers.
He feels that love on a daily basis from Auburn coaches.
“Well, they’re in it pretty hard because, with Auburn, the coaching staff hits me up every day,” Robinson said. “That’s why I’m up here now. I really haven’t been visiting places. So, really when the coaches hit me up. Coach [Marcus] Woodson, coach [Greg] Brown, all the coaches hit me up every day, checking on me. I had to get up here, and when I did, I really enjoyed the visit.”
For now, however, there are no leaders.
Robinson hopes to narrow it down some in the coming months. Auburn sits in solid position whenever that happens. But he isn’t in any kind of rush to finalize a decision from there. He hasn’t set up any other visits this spring, though he’ll probably take a couple.
As an early enrollee, Robinson plans to make his final choice in December, shortly before his college career begins.
“I’m going to wait until December,” Robinson said. “I’ve got to get to the schools that have offered me and the schools that have been in touch with me more, you know, showing me and giving me the best impression. I’m trying to get to those schools first and then I’ll see how it plays out.”
Pretty sure SCAR is team to beat in this recruitment

Two coastal Georgia teammates set overnight visits
On Tuesday night, SEC Country provided an update on two Mississippi prospects planning to visit Auburn this weekend.
Here’s a Wednesday morning tidbit on two Georgia prospects who will be on the Plains before that.
Frederica Academy (Ga.) teammates Jashawn Sheffield and Jaylin Simpson will make midweek visits to the Plains, their coach confirmed. Sheffield and Simpson will arrive on Thursday to watch a spring practice and plan to stay overnight until Friday afternoon. It will be the tandem’s first known trip to Auburn in the last year.
Auburn is recruiting Sheffield at wide receiver. He’s listed as an athlete and has played running back, wide receiver and defensive back for his high school. Sheffield ranks as the No. 10 athlete in the country and the No. 101 overall prospect.
The Tigers are evaluating Simpson at cornerback and safety. Simpson plays on both sides of the ball for Frederica Academy as well; hence, his athlete listing. He’ll live in the defensive backfield at the college level.
Both prospects have already received offers from Auburn.

AU offered the #1 player in the 2020 class last night 5* DL Bryan Bresee out of Maryland. Apparently he has a good friend that attends AU & so Bresee wants to take a visit to AU to check it out. KN got impressions he's legitimately interested in learning more about AU so we will see if a visit actually happens

Agreed. I am just worried we aren't gonna get a lot of these out of state guys. #2 for Pappoe. #2 for Starks. At best #3 for Dean right now (Bama & LSU ahead). Floyd likes us but until he visits he's a pipe dream. #2 for Deloach right now it sounds like with SCAR ahead
If we can get those guys absolutely go get em. I just don't want us to strike out on them then not be able to get somebody like Abrams because UF already made him a priority. Eaford named us #1 but KN says that others might be ahead of him right now on pecking order. Very interested to see how LB recruiting shakes out

Apparently blew away 4* ATH Jaylin Simpson and 4* WR Jashawn Sheffield. Wiltfong CBd them both to AU and says source believes AU is heavy favorite
Posted on 3/30/18 at 7:33 pm to TigerPaw1
Do you know if we are recruiting Simpson as a WR or DB?
Posted on 3/30/18 at 7:35 pm to RandySavage
Recruiting Simpson as a CB. Sounds like Sheffield might play either WR or S

Good, more DBs (especially CBs) please.
