Elite Texas WR places Auburn among top schools

Auburn has positioned itself to recruit the elite of the elite at wide receiver.

Last week, SEC Country broke down the wide receivers ranked inside the top 100 whom Auburn finds itself in serious contention to land.

Jalen Curry was part of that group. The 6-3, 195-pound prospect from Houston ranks as the No. 90 overall player in the country, and he’s been heavily recruited by Auburn receivers coach Kodi Burns. Curry has been offered by anyone and everyone, and he’s ready to start narrowing the selection process down.

He told SEC Country last week that he plans to make it to Auburn soon to “catch a spring practice.”

Curry released a top 10 during the weekend, and the Tigers made the cut. Auburn is joined by Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, TCU, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Interesting update on 4* CB Kaiir Elam by KN. Apparently his dad is really close with Greg Brown & they talk all the time. Kaiir's uncle played at UF which is why Gators thought to be favorite but dad played at ND & apparently will have a bigger influence than his uncle

Get it done Greg

4* DE Derick Hunter says he's gonna visit AU next month. Told Kipp Adams that he knows UF the most but likes UGA the best. Something interesting in interview tho is he called himself a "country boy" which is part of appeal to him with Athens. If he thinks Athens is country he's gonna love AU

4* WR Jashawn Sheffield says Bo Nix (they play on the same 7v7) is recruiting him hard & now he wants to visit AU soon. Also apparently has lots of friends in the city that all love AU & visit all the time. Doesn't have AU in top 4 right now (UGA/FSU/TEN/SCAR) with Vols recruiting him the hardest but he's interested in visiting

He could play WR or S

Warren as well. Would be huge to get an OT on board early, especially one from Grayson who has like 10 D1 guys.

No not much has come out yet. He just finished visit to Tennessee which is concerning but told KN he's been to AU like 3 times already this year

Edit: KN had no idea about the visits apparently. Says they've kept it under the radar. No idea of that's good or bad but it's something

No. 19 prospect in America trims list to two (Rivals)
quote:

Wanya Morris is closing in on a decision. The No. 3-ranked offensive tackle in the country is a former Florida State commit, but instead of playing in the ACC, he will play in the SEC.

The 6-foot-6, 289 four-star out of Loganville (Ga.) Grayson is down to two schools and he is eyeing a decision in the near future.

"It is Auburn and Tennessee and those are my final two schools," said Morris. "I have visited each school three or four times this year already and I will commit to one of them sometime soon."

Morris said each school is recruiting him "very hard" and he knows it will not be an easy decision, but he is sure these are the best two schools for him.

"Me and my mom love both of these places and prayed about it and we decided that these are the final two schools. They both are beautiful places and I feel like I built outstanding relationships with coaches on each staff.

"At Auburn, it is coach T-Will (Travis Williams) and coach JB Grimes — and really their whole staff. It is just a great vibe there for me and I really like it.

"At Tennessee, it is about the same feeling that I have at Auburn. They treat me like family up there and I have built a great relationship with coach [Will] Friend and everyone else on the new staff.

"The staff at Tennessee didn't waist anytime with the recruiting pitches and they just gave me the facts, so I liked that."

There may or may not be one more visit to each school before the decision is made. No date has been set yet, but Morris knows he is getting close.

He just has to figure out which school is the right choice.

"Me and my mom are ready to get this over with and choose a school," said Morris. "They're both amazing programs and we cannot go wrong with either.

"It will come down to what team will prepare me best for the next level."

Auburn makes final 2 for elite OT (247)
quote:

Auburn is one of two finalists for one of the top offensive tackles in the country.

According to 4-star tackle Wanya Morris of Grayson (Ga.), he will decide between Auburn and Tennessee.

For Auburn, this is a huge development.

The 6-feet-5.5, 300-pound Morris is the No. 6 tackle and No. 40 overall recruit nationally in the industry generated 247Sports Composite.

What did Auburn do to make Morris' final two?

"It’s like a family," he told AuburnUndercover.com on Tuesday.

He attended two Auburn home games last November. Morris said Tuesday he has been to Auburn "about three times" already this year.

One of Morris' teammates, five-star linebacker Owen Pappoe, also is a huge Auburn target. He has the Tigers No. 2 behind Georgia at the moment.

Of the Vols, Morris noted, "Tennessee was just a place I'm really comfortable with."

According to Morris, he could have a decision soon.

"As early as the end of the month but as late as May,” he said.

Auburn 2020 commit Andy Boykin ‘still 100 percent’ after Georgia visit (SECCountry)
quote:

Tigers 2020 commit ‘still 100 percent Auburn’

Andy Boykin will take college visits to places other than Auburn over the next two years.

The 6-foot-3, 235-pound defensive end committed to the Tigers last fall before his recruitment truly took off. Since that commitment, Georgia and LSU have jumped on board with offers to Boykin. The Bulldogs’ offer, in particular, is an intriguing one for the Lagrange, Ga., native who has already visited Athens once this spring.

“I grew up an in-state fan of Georgia. I’m still going to take a couple visits up there, probably take an official visit my senior year,” Boykin said. “See how everything goes with Auburn and Georgia and whatever other schools I pursue.”

Those comments shouldn’t concern Auburn much — yet.

Boykin returned to the Plains last weekend for junior day. He spent some time with defensive line coach Rodney Garner and enjoyed the basketball regular-season finale that gave him a look at Auburn’s fan base in other sports.

When Boykin returned to Auburn, the feeling about his commitment hadn’t changed.

“Things still sit the same. It was a good visit. I just wanted to take my family up there and let them experience another school and see how they felt about it,” Boykin said. “But my family and me were still 100 percent Auburn.”

Boykin plans to take a look at schools than Georgia and LSU, too. Florida, Florida State and Tennessee are frontrunners to land visits.

However, based on his initial return after another visit to Auburn, Boykin feels as strongly as every about his Tigers commitment.

“I always loved Georgia, but Auburn just makes me want to stay here. It’s such a good fan base. Everything is just great down here,” Boykin said. “Coach Garner, he wants the best for me. He puts a lot of guys in the league. I just want to be one of those guys he puts in the league.”

Auburn cracks top 2 for elite tackle

In the recruiting question of the day Tuesday, I broke down the best-case scenario commitments at every position in the 2019 class. At tackle — arguably the most important position in the class — Wanya Morris was the headliner.

The 4-star tackle from Loganville, Ga., is the No. 40 overall prospect in the nation, which is good enough for sixth among tackles. On Tuesday evening, Morris released his top two of Auburn and Tennessee. Morris has been to both schools several times in the last few months.

He said his decision will come “sometime soon.”

Morris is a high school teammate of 5-star linebacker Owen Pappoe, who also placed the Tigers in his top two over the weekend. The tandem went to Tennessee together last weekend.

Mississippi DB checked out Auburn, Georgia last weekend

Auburn hosted another one of the #SipMaul19 prospects over the weekend: cornerback Deantre Prince.

The 6-2, 160-pound cornerback made two SEC visits over the weekend. Prince went to Georgia on Saturday. On his return to Charleston, Miss., he swung by Auburn on Sunday to check out the Plains.

He didn’t see much of the campus, but he spent time with defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson, who showed him and his family around. Prince picked up an offer during his visit to Auburn.

“It was good. It was fun. I had a great time with the coaches and everything,” Prince said. “It was just the coaches. I felt I could trust them.”

Prince told Chad Simmons of Rivals.com that Georgia took the lead for Prince after this weekend.

Auburn recruiting question of the day: Best-case 2019 commitments by position (SECCountry)
quote:

As I referenced in my Auburn recruiting Facebook Live chat, most of the Tigers’ top targets are taking their time with their decisions.

Five-star linebacker Owen Pappoe would like to make a decision by May, if possible. Other than that, there have been a lot of “before my senior year responses” and even more “no timeline” for decisions.

This has been the trend the last couple recruiting cycles, as Auburn — and some of its SEC counterparts — has done most of its damage in the summer and fall. The spring has been more about laying the foundation. Auburn has two commitments, from quarterback Bo Nix and wide receiver George Pickens, and the Tigers are poised to build on that high-caliber start.

Auburn is in competitive position for many of its top targets. The decision processes might be in the early stages, but the Tigers are at or near the top for many of them. Here’s a look at the best-case scenarios for Auburn at each position in the 2019 class.

Quarterback: 4-star Bo Nix, Pinson, Ala.

This one is self explanatory.

Bo Nix was the only quarterback Auburn offered in the 2019 class. He has been the Tigers’ guy since he was in eighth grade. The Nix family has a rich quarterback history on the Plains, and Bo is next in line to carry on that legacy.

It’s possible Auburn goes after a second quarterback, though it’s unlikely. Auburn’s best-case scenario at quarterback is already complete.

Second choice: N/A

Honestly interested to see who we make top priority at QB in the 2020 class. Three straight years of top QB commits (Stidham, Gatewood, Nix) has me spoiled
