Clemson is the favorite while Georgia is another program that has gotten a lot of buzz. But Auburn is very much a factor for the top-30 recruit and in fact may now be Clemson's stiffest competition. We’re hearing it might even be a 50-50 Auburn-Clemson battle at the moment. Booth, the No. 26 overall recruit nationally in the 247Sports Composite, has a strong relationship with the Auburn staff -- and the Tigers have made a strong push in the past few months. Of note, he's very close with Pappoe. Booth has visited Auburn twice since late March and is expected to return June 2 for Big Cat Weekend. Auburn is trending up with a decision expected to come this summer.

-Jadon Haselwood, WR, Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove

The 5-star Georgia commit has visited the Tigers at least three times in the past six months. He has formed a good relationship with Auburn receivers coach Kodi Burns and area recruiter Larry Porter — as has his mother. The feeling at Auburn is Haselwood might not be rock solid to the Bulldogs. Other schools feel the same way, but Georgia is confident it will keep him in the class. If anyone can flip him, it's probably either Auburn or Oklahoma. He officially visited the Sooners this spring. Landing the No. 5 recruit in the country won’t be easy.

Just don't see Haselwood flipping. Dude loves Justin Fields

-Clay Webb, OL-C, Oxford (Ala.)

Alabama is the perceived favorite, but Auburn and Georgia are legit threats. Clemson and Florida round out his top group. Sources have told us for months the Auburn staff thinks it is in this more than people think. Webb visited the Tigers on Saturday — his second trip there this spring. Auburn was by his school twice during the spring evaluation period. Most recently, offensive line coach J.B. Grimes stopped at Oxford two weeks ago to watch Webb practice. As long as Webb, the No. 12 recruit in the country, keeps visiting, Auburn probably has a shot.

-Nakobe Dean, ILB, Horn Lake (Miss.)

Dean, the No. 27 recruit in the country, is high on the Auburn board and vice versa. Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Stanford are the main competition. It's going to be a battle, but Auburn has two coaches working hard on Dean (linebacker coach Travis Williams and secondary coach Marcus Woodson). Dean visited Auburn earlier this year but has yet to return. He told Auburn Undercover two weeks ago he hopes to visit the Tigers again in the near future but did not have a a date in mind. Dean is big on academics so every school will be selling him on that. Auburn visited his school last Friday. Dean is fairly open it seems at this point.

Until he actually visits again don't think AU is a major factor

-Devontae Dobbs, OT, Belleville (Mich.)

Dobbs, the No. 10 recruit in the country, is listed at 6-feet-4, 270 pounds. He’s rated as an offensive tackle but probably could play tackle or guard in college. This one seems like a long shot, but you never know. Dobbs visited the Tigers this spring with his team. At the time, our intel was that Auburn was confident he’d return. That information proved correct as Dobbs’ first official visit will go to Auburn (June 8). For the Tigers, that’s a huge win but there’s a long way to go before anyone should get too excited. Dobbs also will official to Southern California in June. Michigan State and Ohio State are two others to watch — possibly Alabama, Clemson and Georgia, too.

Hopefully Dobbs enjoys trip to Dye's cabin

-Wanya Morris, OT, Grayson (Ga.)

This is a player the Auburn staff really loves. The No. 23 overall recruit nationally in the industry generated 247Sports Composite, Morris committed to the Vols on May 1 over the Tigers after a back-and-forth battle. Since then, the Tigers have backed off but the feeling is communication between the two sides will start back up at some point. Additionally, Pappoe told us he plans to recruit his high school teammate hard. Right now, Morris is locked in with Tennessee. But there’s a long way until the December signing period and anything is possible. Let's see if the Tigers get him back on campus in the fall. If they do, anything is possible.

-Owen Pappoe, LB, Grayson (Ga.)

Pappoe committed to Auburn over Georgia on May 1 but likely will visit the Bulldogs again — possibly more than once — before he signs in December. That said, the Tigers have multiple reasons to be optimistic about keeping him in the class. For starters, he’s extremely close with Auburn linebackers coach Travis Williams. Additionally, Pappoe already is actively recruiting — and hard — for the Tigers. For now, he looks rock solid but obviously we’ll be tracking his every move as it pertains to his recruitment in the coming months.

-Nathan Pickering, DE, Seminary (Miss.)

At this time, the 6-feet-3.5, 286-pound Pickering is the No. 48 recruit nationally in the 247Sports Composite, but after a strong performance at The Opening Dallas regional, Pickering’s stock is soaring. In the 247Sports Composite, 34 prospects have 5-star status and Pickering is inching toward that. As far as his recruitment goes, Auburn is a major factor and expects to get him on campus again this summer. Florida has emerged as the possible favorite. He has a strong relationship with the staff there since many of the coaches previously were at Mississippi State. This one is a long way from over, though.

Honestly surprised hasn't visited again. Think he's visited UF more than us

-Noah Cain RB, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

Cain is a 4-star recruit but he’s just outside the top 50 in the 247Sports Composite in the No. 53 spot. That means he has a shot at being a 5-star. Right now, 247Sports has him lower than the rest of the industry at No. 99. A strong summer, senior season and post-season could give him the boost he needs to attain 5-star status. Cain arguably is Auburn’s top running back target He visited the Tigers earlier this year and will return June 2. Ohio State and Texas are two other top contenders.

BCW visit will be huge. Need a HR

-Bo Nix, QB, Pinson Valley (Ala.)

Nix, who committed to Auburn in January, is thought to be one of the best quarterback recruits in the country. Right now, he’s No. 66 overall in the 247Sports Composite but only 180th in the 247Sports rankings. With the Elite 11 and The Opening finals ahead in June and July, there’s a chance he could make a move if he continues to perform at a high level. If not then, he still has the 2018 season and 2019 Under Armour All-America Game left to impress. Nix is solid to the Tigers and actively recruiting for them.

Simmons doesn't seem a fan of Nix so don't see him ever reaching 247 Composite 5* status. Would not be surprised tho if Rivals gave him a 5th star eventually

-George Pickens, WR, Hoover (Ala.)

Has any recruit in the country seen his stock rise more thus far this year than Pickens, the longtime Auburn commit? He’s currently at No. 95 in the 247Sports Composite, but if he continues to dazzle the way he has in camps, seven-on-seven and spring football it’s possible his ranking will continue to go up and up. For Pickens, The Opening finals in July will be big because he’ll have a chance to show his stuff against the country’s best defensive backs. A big week in Texas could do wonders for his ranking.

Think he ends up a 5* & has a huge performance at The Opening

My 5* predictions

Owen Pappoe
Andrew Booth
George Pickens

I think Pickens eventually gets that 5th star & AU steals Booth away from CLEM which helps lockdown Pappoe

Please don't suck this year on the field AU, got a chance at a top 5 class

If we happen to pull Charles Moore, Jaren Handy, Eboigbe, and Hall (Buck), would we say that re-stocks the cupboard for the upcoming DL exodus of Auburn DL to the NFL?

I think we need 1 more big time DL that can play inside to that group.

That group would be awesome. Would love to add Colby Wooden as the 5th

DT - Handy, Eboigbe
DE - Moore, Wooden
Buck - Hall

Top flip candidates (247)
quote:

Flipping ain’t easy. To get a prospect to back off a commitent and flip to another school takes a lot of work, maybe more work than landing an uncommitted target. Once committed to a program, a prospects often feels a sense of loyalty to the staff there. So do his parents. Breaking down those walls can be difficult, but it’s not impossible. In recent years, Auburn has had some success flipping recruits. Cornerback Carlton Davis, you'll recall, once was headed to Ohio State. Receiver Darius Slayton and defensive tackle Dontavious Russell were Georgia bound. And, offensive lineman Mike Horton planned to be a Gator.

Who are some flip candidates for Auburn in this recruiting cycle?
Today, we take a look.

-Five-star receiver Jadon Haselwood, Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove: Haselwood, a longtime Georgia commit, already has taken an official visit to Oklahoma and made multiple trips to Auburn in the past six months. Additionally, the Tigers have built a relationship with his mother. Haselwood quite possibly is Auburn’s top remaining receiver target. He’s truly an elite recruit. People seem to be split on this one. Some say he’s very flippable. Others think he’s locked in with the Bulldogs. Auburn continues to battle, but we feel this will be tough to accomplish.

There must be some confidence on AU's side with Haselwood because KN mentions him a bunch

-Four-star cornerback Maurice Hampton, Memphis University School (Tenn.): Hampton is an LSU commit, but he appears to be keeping his options open. “I would say Auburn, Florida and Tennessee are probably the top three teams that are recruiting me pretty hard, as of now,” said Hampton, who’s ranked the No. 137 overall prospect and No. 15 cornerback in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite for the 2019 class. Look for Auburn to get a visit sometime soon. His name really just popped onto our radar in the past couple weeks but we can confirm Auburn’s interest in him is serious. One note: Hampton could be a high-round pick in baseball.

Interesting... Wonder if he makes it to BCW. We are swinging for the fences at DB

-Four-star linebacker Trezmen Marshall, Homerville (Ga.) Clinch County: The too-100 recruit recently committed to Georgia but this weekend visited the Tigers with his parents and stayed overnight. As far as we know that was their first trip to Auburn, so any talk of a flip might be a bit premature. That said, he is extremely close to Auburn 5-star linebacker commit Owen Pappoe. That not only helps, it laid the groundwork for this weekend’s visit. The two want to play together in college. Pappoe also has agreed to visit Georgia. From what we’re told, the Tigers think they have made some real progress. Time will tell if that’s correct.

-Four-star defensive end Charles Moore, Louisville (Miss.): The No. 90 recruit in the country, Moore is a longtime Mississippi State commit. And, he lives only about 45 minutes from that campus. That said, he already has visited Auburn twice this year alone and plans to return June 2 for Big Cat Weekend. Moore’s father has been doing contract work lately in Opelika, Ala., so that’s a plus for the Tigers as well. It feels like Moore will be difficult to flip, but as long as he keeps visiting you can’t count out Auburn. He says the Tigers are right there with State.

What's gonna be tough on this one is he feels a lot of loyalty to State because they stuck with him despite ACL injury last cycle. I think coaching change has opened up a bit of a door but this will be a hard flip
