TE Ryland Goede

Goede was on campus again for scrimmage and loved visit. KN thinks he will be a 4* soon and is expected to be a top TE in the 2019 class. Right now AU & UGA are his leaders even tho he claims he has none. Those 2 jumped on him early and recruiting him hardest. Says AU is telling him they plan on using more true TEs in the future. Best part was he noticed TEs being used more in Saturday scrimmage. Plans to camp at AU this summer

I am torn on Goede. Dude is massive with great hands but he's kinda slow. I don't think that's a huge deal in our scheme but I wasn't blown away by film like I thought I would be. Obviously still want to land him but not sure I a buy the hype yet. Then again I am not a scout

OG Keiondre Jones

Jones is the #1 OG in the 2019 class right now and was back at AU for his 3rd or 4th visit. Seems to love the city and likes the small town vibe. He's gotten real close with Herb Hand. Says he has no leaders but UGA, AUB, CLEM & OHST recruiting him hardest right now. Claims he wants to go somewhere where he feels comfortable and has strong relationship with staff

Maybe it's my homerism cropping up but I don't think he's the slam dunk to UGA that some think and I like our chances. His top 2 reasons are the exact reasons he gave for loving AU. I have no doubt I am reading too much into that but 2019 NSD is so far away we can dream

CB Jalen Alexander

Alexander has exactly one offer and it's from AU. That fact has already made him love AU. Says lots of schools have been saying they think he's a bit too skinny and needs to put weight on but AU offer changed the game. He thinks South Carolina and Clemson are close to offering. Raved about the coaching staff and how he loves the way staff coaches and treats players

Always good to be the first offer. Kid plays at powerhouse Grayson which is loaded with D1 talent including possible top 10 player next year in LB Owen Pappoe. I like Alexander's film and think it's gonna pay off down the road that we offered first

4-star safety to visit Saturday (247)
quote:

You can add a new name to the list of high school recruits expected to attend A-Day at Auburn on Saturday: Myles Mason.

He's a 4-star safety from Pleasant Grove (Ala.) and the No. 6 recruit in the state of Alabama for the 247Sports Composite. This won't be Mason's first trip to Auburn. We know he was at least one Tigers home game last year

The 247Sports Crystal Ball has Mason 100 percent to Alabama. However, there are some who think the Tide may be recruiting other safeties harder.

Auburn is likely to sign two safeties in the class. Mason is 6-feet-2, 185 pounds.

Dude is all Bama if they want em

KN has story up on 3* Buck Azeez Ojulari who AU recently offered. This was his 2nd trip to AU, he visited for A-Day last year. Tigers join a crowd of other teams that have offered the pass rusher recently. He's being recruited for the Buck spot and spent time with area recruiter Tim Horton, Rodney Garner & Malzahn Tuesday. Sounds like he loves the idea of playing Buck and clicked well with the staff. Says AU will be in his top group. Mentioned AU, GT, VT & OK as offers he has been most excited about

Marietta is loaded as well with talent. Curious to see who we end up with at Buck. There's Andres Fox (tho sounds like we think he could be hybrid), Brenton Cox (another hybrid), Channing Tindall, Richard Jibunor, Caleb Tannor and now Ojulari

ACT derails a top target's A-Day plans (247)
quote:

Linebacker/buck Richard Jibunor of Athens Christian (Ga.), one of Auburn's top recruiting targets, planned to attend Saturday's A-Day game at Auburn -- but now he won't be able to make it.

The reason?

After a late change to his schedule, he now will take the ACT that day.

"That breaks my heart … I feel like crying," Jibunor said.

Jibunor, the No. 14 athlete nationally in the 247Sports rankings, is extremely high on Auburn. He visited the Tigers earlier this year -- and attended some games last season.

Now, he hopes to "get over there soon."

Jibunor isn't the only prospect who has the ACT on Saturday. Four-star corner Jalyn Armour-Davis of Mobile (Ala.) St. Paul's Episcopal, another key Tigers target, also is taking the test this week.

Jibunor's rise: From Nigeria to national recruit (247)
quote:

Today, Richard Jibunor, the 4-star linebacker/buck end at Athens Christian (Ga.), is a nationally known recruit. Two years ago, he had never even strapped on a helmet.

A native of Nigeria, Jibunor arrived in Georgia as a ninth-grader.

Admittedly, “the first semester of my freshman year was very hard,” he recalled.

The good news?

In Athens, “Everybody made me feel at home and feel so welcome,” he noted.

In the spring of his freshman year, Jibunor decided to give football a try.

“I had seen some movies about football, but that is all I knew about it,” Jibunor said. “The first time I arrived in Georgia was the first time I saw football with my eyes and I was like, ‘This stuff is weird. What is this?’”

That first day of practice wasn’t easy. Far from. To say the least, he was a bit lost. And his equipment felt awkward.

“I was just running and that helmet was hurting my head the whole time,” Jibunor said, laughing.

He quickly adjusted and learned the game. Today, the 6-feet-3, 206-pound Jibunor is a 4-star recruit — and a major Tigers target.

Auburn is a program that stands out. Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee are the others.

In this podcast interview, Jibunor recaps his move to the United States and goes in-depth on his recruitment.

Notes on top Southern college football recruits from Atlanta’s 2017 Under Armour camp (SBNation)
quote:

Having been on the road for the last seven weekends has yielded a lot of great material to be used in future content creation, but I’ve not had much time to share the knowledge gained with readers of the Crootletter. My next trip is not until April 22, so expect your inbox to be pinging more frequently over the next two weeks.

Today I’ll start with a roundup of prospect notes.

I attended the Under Armour All-America Camp in Atlanta this past weekend. It was a great mix of upperclassmen, as well as younger players. Fifty of the 60 members of the classes of 2019-20 already had an offer from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Florida, Georgia, or LSU.

Deontrey Hill, an elite guard prospect out of Warner Robbins (Ga.) Houston County is a massive lineman with good feet for his 6’4, 340-pound body. I really like his aggressiveness, but also his body control. It’s easy to get over-extended and off balance at that size and age (Hill is only 17). He told me that he will likely visit Auburn for the Tigers’ spring game this coming weekend, and maintains that he does not have a top school. But Georgia media I spoke with believe Hill will sign with Georgia.

I want one of Hill and 2019 Jones. Not even being greedy and asking for both. Just one damnit

I was impressed with the agility of running back Harold Joiner, a 6’3, 218-pound running back out of Mountain Brook (Ala.). Auburn and LSU are in a good spot for the four-star, and he could see a ratings boost, as he is currently just outside the top 300 nationally in the 247Sports Composite.

Washington (D.C.) St. John’s College Prep athlete Kwincy Hall is small, but very quick. At 5’6 and 170 pounds, he was basically unguardable from the running back or receiver position. I know, I know, “don’t fall in love with tiny players at non-contact events.” But still, for him to have this level of athleticism and only have an offer from Navy surprised me. I expect he’ll be getting a few more soon, as he could be a real asset in space for a spread team.

I was intrigued by Montgomery (Ala.) Lanier QB James Foster. Foster has good size at 6’3, athleticism, and threw the ball well on Saturday. If some top schools strike out on the few remaining elite QB targets, and Foster continues to improve, his options could greatly expand.

I was also very impressed with receiver Kearis Jackson, of Fort Valley (Ga.) Peach County. He is solidly built at 5’11 or 6’0 and 200 pounds, with strong hands and good athleticism. Jackson earned an invite to the Under Armour All-America Game thanks to his performance. Jackson is currently rated a top-150 player, and I don’t see that changing. Most I spoke with seem to expect Jackson to stay in state.

Ohio State QB commitment Emory Jones recently took a quiet visit to Georgia that he didn’t discuss. But he did talk about upcoming visits to Florida, Florida State, and Alabama. He also told me why he is taking other visits, what Ohio State’s coaches think about his trips despite being committed, and gave a percentage on his level of commitment of the Buckeyes. This could be a situation to watch.

On the defensive side of the football, Greg Emerson of Jackson (Tenn.) North Side showed some great burst to go with his 290-pound build. He was far too much for most offensive linemen to handle. He would be a major piece for Tennessee if he picks the Vols, but Alabama, Georgia, and others are on him, as well.

Richard Jibunor, of Athens (Ga.) Christian is a prospect who jumped onto my radar. Currently rated a three-star, the Nigeria native is 6’3.5, 215 pounds, and has shown pass rush and cover ability in recent weeks, despite playing only two years of football so far. Despite his three-star early rating (again, early ratings are not worth much), Auburn and Alabama have already offered.
