Love his film. He's really fast and love how he tackles. This is a really solid LB class this cycle, it's just that most are out of the state this year

Anthony Schwartz runs 10.15sec 100m (247)

Time broke record held by Jeff Demps at the Florida Relays.

(thought it deserved its own thread, LowGator)

Kid is only a junior in high school. He's a solid WR but hard not to drool over that speed

Also of note Shivers finished 6th with a 10.52 time which is really good too but a tad bit overshadowed by Schwartz's time

Former recruiting target takes slight shot at AU (247)

Chase Lasater is still pissed we passed on him. I think you can see that the "doesn't fit" excuse was legit

Top OT target on multi-day visit to Auburn (247)
quote:

Touted offensive tackle Richard Gouraige of Tampa (Fla.) Cambridge has always liked Auburn -- even though he has never stepped foot on campus -- until this week.

Gouraige, who is extremely high on the Tigers, arrived in Auburn on Thursday and will stay through Saturday.

The 6-feet-5, 300-pound Gouraige is the No. 6 tackle and No. 61 overall recruit in the 247Sports Composite.

Auburn running backs coach Tim Horton is his area recruiter. Horton and offensive line coach Herb Hand each have visited Gouraige's school -- and both communicate with him often.

Tigers coach Gus Malzahn also stopped by Cambridge this year.

Clemson and Florida are other programs to watch. The 247Sports Crystal Ball currently favors Clemson by a large margin.

AuburnUndercover.com interviewed Gouraige back in late February. At the time, he told us, "“If I made a list right now, (Auburn would) sit high on my list."

He added, "They say, ‘We really need help on the offensive line. You can come help us a lot. I’m speaking to them both on the same things. We text every day. I love Coach Hand. He just knows what he’s talking about, getting players better and mastering their craft.”

KN has VIP article up on 4* LB Zakoby McClain who is visiting this weekend. He has high interest in AU because, you guessed it, Travis Williams. Likes him a lot. He says plans on releasing a top group probably next month and says right now LSU, Oregon, South Carolina and Auburn are standing out. LSU & South Carolina seem to be recruiting him the hardest right now. This is his first visit to AU and he is interested in seeing Williams in action coaching guys at scrimmage Saturday. Says he has a coach at his school that went to AU and has said good things about it

Not quite sure what our LB board looks like right now. A lot of offers out to a lot of guys. I think Channing Tindall and Richard Jibunor are being looked at more as Buck guys. Teradja Mitchell and Michael Harris don't look like too realistic options. We lead for Nathaniel Watson and once lead for Quay Walker but that might not be case anymore. There's work to do on JJ Peterson as well. There's other guys like Ernest Jones and Matthew Flint that are not rated that high but have offers and we seem to be recruiting (more Jones than Flint).

My best guess is we get Jibunor, Walker and Watson with Jibunor falling into same category as Moultry last year where he could play Buck or LB. I am sure other names will pop up too over the summer

Auburn recruiting: Recruit pranked with fake offer gets good news from coach (SECCountry)
quote:

An offensive line recruit tricked into thinking he had an offer to join the Auburn recruiting class got some very good, very real news this week.

Taurrian Stafford, a 2018 offensive line prospect from Miami, Fla., got a call Tuesday from someone pretending to be Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand. The caller said he liked Stafford’s film and he wanted to offer the lineman a scholarship. But then the real coach Hand called the next day.

“He called and said, ‘I’m sorry for the incident, but that was not me who called,’” Stafford told 247Sports’ Keith Niebuhr.

The prank upset Stafford. He had cried when he thought he had an offer, calling it “the high point of my whole life.” However, Hand told Stafford he was looking for a center in this class. He said he would come evaluate the 6-foot-4, 325-pound prospect this spring.

Both Stafford and Hand took to Twitter to voice their frustration with the person who pulled the prank.

But now Stafford has a chance to actually earn an offer from Hand. So maybe in the end, the joke will be on them.

Stafford is not currently ranked in the 247Sports composite. He has one offer at the moment, from Florida A&M.

Offensive lineman Jalil Irvin talks life after commitment to Auburn (SECCountry)
quote:

Irvin talks life after commitment

In that moment, Jalil Irvin knew.

Irvin, an uncommitted prospect at the time, stood inside Jordan-Hare Stadium with Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand during his March 4 unofficial visit. Hand offered up a hypothetical scenario that resonated with Irvin.

It was all he needed to hear to confirm the dozens of other gut feelings he’d had in his many visits on the Plains.

“He was telling me it was the fourth quarter. It was third down with three minutes left, and we had to get a touchdown. He told me to imagine pancaking someone, and then I get off the ground and run to the sideline with everybody cheering,” Irvin told SEC Country last Sunday. “I just felt at home in that moment.”

Irvin waited a few days to make his public commitment, but he knew then.

The 6-foot-3, 296-pound offensive lineman, who likely will play guard or center for Auburn, didn’t need any more time to shop despite a half dozen of schools still chasing him. That pressure from non-Auburn recruiters hasn’t changed.

Irvin continues to gets texts and calls from several programs — Ohio State, Mississippi State, Florida and LSU — but his heart is at Auburn.

“It’s still kinda hectic. There’s still a lot of schools that are trying to communicate with me right now, but I’m trying to brush it off really. I’m just being cordial, but I’m not taking any visits anywhere right now,” Irvin said. “I know I’ll be down at Auburn on April 8, and that’s the only place I’ll be for sure … I’ll be back down in June. I’m trying to get there a lot.”

Irvin would like to take all five official visits for the life experience, if he gets Hand’s approval.

But the offensive lineman who made the final 5 of the Nike Opening regional in Atlanta already has shifted his role from recruit to recruiter. Irvin’s top priority is finding fellow offensive linemen to join him. Irvin wants to find the right linemen to complement him.

He didn’t have to look far.

Prior to moving to Stephenson High (Ga.), Irvin played in the Tucker (Ga.) school district with fellow 4-star 2018 prospect Dylan Wonnum. Irvin referred to the two as “really close friends” who played right guard and right tackle for the same team in 10th grade.

Wonnum is ranked the No. 5 offensive guard nationally, the No. 126 prospect overall, per the 247Sports composite rankings. He holds offers from Florida, LSU, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, USC and others, but Irvin hopes his friendship can pull Wonnum toward the Plains.

“If we could do that in college, it’d be good. I’d really enjoy it. I want to get back to Auburn with him,” Irvin said. “I hope our friendship plays a large part.”

Scrimmage visitors

It’s one week from Auburn’s spring game, but the Tigers are already hosting an impressive group of visitors for the second spring scrimmage Saturday.

SEC Country wrote earlier in the week that top offensive line target Richard Gouraige and tight end target Tyneil Hopper will attend the scrimmage in Jordan-Hare Stadium. More names have been confirmed, including another quarterback target for the Tigers.

Gerry Bohanon is another potential option at quarterback in the 2018 class. Auburn already has Joey Gatewood, but my sources have told me there is a growing interest in trying to bring in two quarterbacks this class. Bohanon seems like the right starting place. Many programs are recruiting Bohanon as an athlete, but he told SEC Country that Auburn wants him at quarterback.

Bohanon will be on campus from Friday to Sunday, so he’s certainly getting priority treatment.

Hopper won’t be the only tight end in attendance. Ryland Goede, one of the top TEs in the 2019 class, confirmed with SEC Country that he’ll be at the scrimmage Saturday.

4-star D'Andre Litaker talks Alabama, Auburn, recovery timeline (AL.com)
quote:

D'Andre Litaker's torn ACL is not affecting his recruitment by some of the top programs in the SEC.

"It's starting to pick up," the four-star defensive tackle prospect told AL.com Sunday at Nike's The Opening Atlanta regional camp. "The recruitment's going real well. Right now I'd have to say Tennessee of course, I'm starting to hear from Alabama a little bit more, LSU, South Carolina a lot now. Those are really the schools that are interested in me the most."

Litaker, who stands at 6-foot-2, 298 pounds, tore his ACL in the first game of his junior season last fall at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

"That was tragic," he said. "I'm starting the recovery... I'd say (my knee's) about 75, 80 percent. I'm running full speed now and doing all that, just can't have any contact just yet. That's where it's at. Sooner or later I'll be back to 100 percent. April, May, something like that. I'll be ready to go."

While some believe Tennessee is the team to beat, Litaker made it clear he has no favorites at this time.

"In-state schools are always going to be the hardest to recruit you," he said. Tennessee of course recruits me the hardest. I'm the No. 1 d-tackle priority besides and Brant (Lawless) and Greg (Emerson). Tennessee is in the mix with everyone else."

Litaker did not take part in The Opening, but wanted to attend to see the talent on the field. The day prior he was in Tuscaloosa.

"It was great," he said. I loved it. Absolutely loved it.

"I met with (Nick) Saban and (Karl) Dunbar. They were talking about how some of the d-line is leaving. Most of the d-line is seniors, but they have juniors that are possibly going to the draft. That's the thing about Alabama. Their d-line's always successful. They know what they're doing and they put guys in the league. We were talking about that to see if I'm willing to be in my future."

Though Litaker did not list Auburn among the schools he hears from the most, he said the Tigers are also a factor.

"They're in the mix," he said. "I still talk to Coach (Rodney) Garner a lot. He's a real good dude also. I just haven't had a chance to go down there yet. I went to a camp before, I just haven't gone back to visit.

"They're not just worried about football. They're worried about my priorities and want me to be successful in the future. They want to be on top of me."

Litaker is ranked as the nation's No. 18 defensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite. When would he like to make his commitment?

"It might be (National Signing Day) so I can surprise everybody," he said. "Or, what I'm thinking now, is it might be the beginning of my senior year or the middle of the football season."

He was a beast his sophomore year. Will be an interesting guy to follow this fall

Texas spotlight: Five class of 2019 storylines to track (Rivals)
quote:

3. PLENTY OF WIDE RECEIVERS TO GO AROUND
Beyond Henderson and Wease, there are a plethora of 2019 receivers that are already big-time names to know in Texas. Jalen Curry and Kam Brown join the OU commits on the first 2019 Top 100 players, but Jordan Whittington, La’Vontae Shenault, Trejan Bridges, Chase Lane, Garrett Wilson, and others are all players primed to fill out the top of this junior class at the position. Thomas Gordon and Austin Stogner have also picked up early offers at tight end and Brent Banks has all the makings of a basketball player-turned tight end a la Antonio Gates to be another big-time prospect at the position by the end of fall.

AU is a player early for Curry

Florida spotlight: Top class of 2019 storylines (Rivals)
quote:

WHERE'S THE FIVE-STAR?
The initial Rivals100 watch list does not include a single five-star from the state of Florida. This, of course, is an upset. It’s also something that is likely to change down the road.

For now, the list of candidates capable to grabbing their final star is as follows; Sanders, Cain, Carol City running back Nayquan Wright and Dunnellon High School wide receiver Maurice Goolsby. Others will certainly emerge as candidates down the road, but if history means anything the Sunshine State will have its first five-star prospect sooner rather than later.

Goolsby is a name to watch for AU

Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Miami: Recruits give commit predictions (Rivals)
quote:

It’s our job at Rivals.com to get the information on which schools the nation’s top prospects will end up signing with when the time comes. But sometimes the best clues come from fellow recruits. At this past weekend's Miami stop of the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas, we asked fellow prospects where some of South Florida’s best players will end up and their answers may surprise you.
