Tight end Nathaniel Watson: It would surprise me if this were the direction Auburn went on National Signing Day, but Watson took a visit and is a Tigers’ legacy, so it’s possible. He wouldn’t have taken an official visit in January if it were impossible for him to land in Auburn’s class. Watson is at a position that doesn’t make much sense for an addition. But much like Taylor, if the Tigers miss on a few, who knows.

I imagine if we sign Watson it's for LB/S hybrid spot

Wouldn't mind Taylor getting the extra spot if we whiff on everybody above. Very good athlete

Frost is one of those coaches where I'm fine saying "if he wants him, I want him on board"

Auburn passes test for No. 5 running back (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | IMG Academy’s (Fla.) Noah Cain, the No. 5 running back in the 2019 class, visited Auburn over the weekend. The two-night stay was a test for the Tigers.

“This was really a visit to see if I could see myself playing here,” Cain said.

Auburn aced the test.

“I definitely can see myself playing at Auburn,” Cain said. “It was my first time here and it surpassed my expectations.”

Cain and his father arrived in Auburn on Friday and stayed until Sunday. The two spent time meeting and speaking with Gus Malzahn, running backs coach Tim Horton and area recruiter Greg Brown.

“They embraced me and showed me a lot of love,” Cain said.

Auburn quarterback commitment Bo Nix and wide receiver commitment George Pickens did, too. The two were in Auburn and hung out with Cain.

“Bo Nix is the best dual-threat quarterback in the country, in my opinion, and George is a big-time receiver,” Cain said. “Just seeing the future of us possibly playing together at Auburn, that’s big.”

Cain, who originally is from Louisiana and grew up an LSU fan, said Auburn made a case for securing a spot in his top five.

“Ohio State is the only school that has a spot in my top five, which I’ll release in the summer, but Auburn made a good impression that they’ll be in it, too,” Cain said. “Auburn is the best school at putting running backs in the league. They had 38 running backs. That’s the most out of any school. That’s big for me.”

Cain will return to Auburn in the spring or summer.

“I will be back with my mom,” he said. “I definitely can see myself at Auburn, so my mom will be with me when I come back.”

Cain plans to make his commitment in December.

“I’m taking the process slow,” he said.

Class of 2019 tight end likes opportunity at Auburn (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | The tight end hasn’t been a primary weapon in Auburn’s offense lately, but that’s not by design.

Cartersville (Ga.) tight end Jackson Lowe learned of the Tigers’ troubles and the reasoning behind them Saturday during a visit for Junior Day.

“They told me the past two years they haven’t been able to throw to the tight end because they haven’t had their dude,” Lowe said. “I didn’t know they are were having a tight end crisis. I didn’t think they really used their tight ends, but when we sat down and talked they told me what happened the past two years.”

Auburn’s lack of a tight end is appealing to Lowe. It means he could compete immediately for playing time.

“That is important,” Lowe said. “They’re not taking any in the 2018 class, so I could be one in the 2019 class to come in and play. They said I could be one of their guys to come in and have the chance to get a good amount of playing time. That would be great.”

Lowe already has an offer from Auburn, as well as ones from Alabama, Penn State, Clemson and Michigan, among others. Auburn, after the visit Saturday, is in his top group of schools.

“They are one of my top schools,” Lowe said. “I really enjoyed the visit. I loved it and could see myself playing here.”

Lowe plans to return to Auburn in the spring or summer.

If Clemson wants this kid they will get him. If not then we might have a shot

Langham visits Auburn, talks finalists, upcoming decision (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | Malik Langham has a decision to make, and he’s one step closer to making it.

The four-star defensive end from Lee-Huntsville took his final official visit this weekend when he and his parents traveled to Auburn.

“The visit went good,” Langham said. “Just being here and talking to all the coaches and players and seeing everything Auburn, it meant a lot to me. I always dreamed about coming and visiting Auburn so having a chance to do it means a lot.”

Langham spent a lot of time with Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner, area recruiter Tim Horton, defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and head coach Gus Malzahn. His player host was sophomore linebacker Chandler Wooten.

Langham plans to announce his college choice on Wednesday, the first day of the signing period. He will choose Auburn, Alabama or Florida.

“I’ll go home and watch the Super Bowl today, talk it over with my family (Monday) and decide what is the best place for us,” Langham said.

Langham hopes to know Monday night which school he’ll sign with on Wednesday.

“I’ll tell the coaches as soon as possible,” Langham said. “If I know Monday night, I’ll give them a call and tell them.”

Langham said he has several reasons for having Auburn, Alabama and Florida as his final options.

“Everything stands out about Alabama,” Langham said. “They are a championship team. I have great relationships with their coaches, Coach (Karl) Dunbar and coach (Tosh) Lupoi. It’s close to home. It’s an in-state school and it’s the focal point of college football.

“With Florida, it’s Florida. You can’t go wrong in the Sunshine State. Me and Coach Dan Mullen had a good relationship when he was at Mississippi State. Coach (Billy) Gonzales, too. And Coach Sal (Sunseri), who would be my d-line coach if I choose to go there, we have a really good relationship.

“With Auburn, it’s a home atmosphere. That’s the main thing. And coach Garner puts d-linemen in the league.”

Langham’s decision will come down to “where I could see myself for the next 3-5 years.”

Langham is set to announce his choice Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Auburn makes good impression on Mississippi's top DL (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | Nathan Pickering, the top defensive lineman in Mississippi, visited Auburn this weekend, and he’s glad he did.

The four-star was one of approximately 70 juniors in Auburn for the Tigers’ first big Junior Day.

“The trip was great,” Pickering said. “Auburn is somewhere I wanted to experience and I loved it. I’m glad that I came.”

Pickering arrived in Auburn on Saturday and stayed until Sunday. He met with Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner and area recruiter Marcus Woodson.

“(Garner) is cool,” Pickering said. “He’s like a father figure to me. He seems like someone who I would love to be coached by. And I’ve known (Woodson) since he was at Memphis. He’s a great guy and treated me like I knew he would treat me.”

Pickering also met and spoke with Auburn junior defensive tackle Derrick Brown.

“He’s a great dude all around,” Pickering said of Brown. “He really knows what he’s doing here. He does what he needs to do. I was impressed that he still pays his tithes in church. I’m a Christian so that is stuff I like to hear. He’s just a great all-around dude.”

Pickering made the trip from his home in Seminary, Miss. He was joined by his uncle, as well as close friend and four-star receiver Dannis Jackson. Both Pickering and Jackson, who is from Sumrall, Miss., were impressed on their visits.

“I was talking to Dannis and he’s really loving Auburn, and I’m loving Auburn,” Pickering said. “Dannis is my dog. I love him. We treat each other good and look after each other. We’ll both be considering Auburn.”

Pickering said the Tigers would be among his favorites when he lists them in the summer.

“They obviously will be a factor for me,” Pickering said. “When I put my top schools out, Auburn will be high on it. I loved it here.”

This weekend’s visit won’t be Pickering’s final visit to Auburn.

“I’ll definitely be back,” he said. “Anytime I get a chance to come here, I’m coming.”

Rivals ranks Pickering the No. 3 overall player in Mississippi, the No. 9 strongside defensive end in the 2019 class and No. 107 in the Rivals250.

In-state DB 'loves' Auburn visit (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | Daphne defensive back Christian Williams visited Auburn for the first time last Saturday, and he’s already planning to return.

“I loved it. I really, really loved it,” Williams said. “I loved the coaches, their personalities and how they get to know their players. It’s not a business with them, but they want you to get the most out of Auburn, get the most out of yourself and get a degree.”

Williams met with new Auburn assistant Marcus Woodson and area recruiter Travis Williams during his visit. Christian Williams already was familiar with Woodson.

“I kept in touch with him when he was at Memphis,” Christian Williams said. “He’s really good. I really like him.”

Woodson and Auburn offered Christian Williams in January.

“It was unbelievable,” he said. “I was really excited and amazed it happened.”

The in-state cornerback lists Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee as three of his top schools, but doesn’t list a leader among the group.

“I grew up an Alabama fan, but I’m not biased,” Williams said. “I’ll definitely be back to Auburn. I really like it.”

Rivals ranks Williams the No. 25 player in the state in 2019.

Rivals250 DB visits Auburn, has Tigers in top group (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | Rivals250 defensive back Cortez Andrews visited Auburn on Saturday.

It was Andrews’ first visit to Auburn and one he’d been wanting to take.

“I grew up a big fan of the SEC and Auburn is one of the heavyweights, so this was one of the big schools I grew up watching,” Andrews said. “Coming up to see it for the first time was really amazing.”

Andrews, who is from Godby High in Tallahassee, Fla., was one of approximately 70 top recruits at Auburn’s Junior Day.

“I really enjoyed it,” Andrews said. “It was a great experience. I love the coaches and the whole environment. It’s family. Family is everything up here and I really like that.”

Andrews plans to return to Auburn. He lists Auburn as one of his top schools, along with Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Ole Miss.

“I’ll most definitely be back at Auburn,” Andrews said. “I really like it here.”

Andrews plans to take his official visits in the spring and make his decision soon after.

“I plan on taking some visits in the spring and then I’ll be ready to make my decision,” Andrews said. “No leaders. Everything right now is neutral.”

Rivals ranks Andrews the No. 17 safety in the 2019 class and No. 236 in the Rivals250.

There was a thought he was close to committing to Bama earlier this spring

Regardless of how this class finishes (which will surely at least end up top 15, closer to top 12 if we whiff)....it certainly seems like we're off to a great start with the top tier recruits. I think a full year of no hot-seat talk with Gus plus a high preseason ranking could do wonders with how our '19 class shapes up. Not to mention, one of the best QBs in the country already being on board to recruit for us.

Not sure new staffs mean much, (insert Kirby, Pruitt..)
They are already monster recruiters who already have big time reps with the high school coaches. Not sure any of Mullen's or Taggart's staff has that.

It's times like this that I just want to remind everyone I had a hot DB prospect that I was talking about earlier this year that would have been nice to have as an option right now lol..

In all seriousness we will be fine, despite a few misses this year. We have the talent needed next year imo.. Troxell is another of our OT's that gets forgotten about.

I think we are fine at CB with Dean, Davis, Dinson/Peters, and Broussard/Tutt/Askew too. Also Dinson, Peters, Askew, Leonard and Daniel Thomas can Play S.. that leaves the other S spot for Smoke Monday imo with Sherwood fitting in there somewhere.

I'm interested to see who we pick up (Still hoping for Cam Taylor), but I'm not really concerned.

I think he would have been another one who benefited from waiting, but can't complain about any D-1 offer especially if you only played for your senior year lol. 3 D-1 now from my old school who went 3 years without winning a game a few years back.. I'll take it lol.

Any chance Foucha is a take now if we miss on all those other recruits?

He never took an OV so unlikely. Cam Taylor or Nathaniel Watson are the 2nd backup options behind Caleb Johnson I believe
