Alabama-Mississippi All-Stars: Jenkins will have a busy January (Rivals)
quote:
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — It seems like every time you ask Marcus Jenkins, the four-star offensive guard out of Montgomery (Ala.) Park Crossing about when he is visiting a school, the answer is January.
Good thing his list isn't longer.
Four schools remain in the hunt for the top 10 prospect in Alabama and he gives the latest.
IN HIS OWN WORDS: "The main schools right now are Oklahoma, Louisville, Auburn and Ole Miss," said Jenkins. "Some schools want me to sign early, but I do not think I will next week. I still have to talk with my mom about it, but I just don't see it right now."
LOUISVILLE: "I was supposed to visit Louisville last weekend, but the weather messed things up, so I will be up there in January. Coach [Mike] Summers is my guy there and I like him a lot. He is a good coach, he has been recruiting me since he was at Florida and we have a good relationship. I was there for the Clemson game and I like the environment up there."
AUBURN: "I just met with coach [Kevin] Steele last week and we are still talking a good bit. Auburn is a school I have always liked. I know a lot about the school and their history, so it is a great place. I plan to take an official visit in January, so we will see happens. I know they are still talking to me and my mom right now."
OLE MISS: "I really like coach [Matt] Luke and he is a good coach. He is an offensive line coach, he has been recruiting me since my sophomore year and when he was named the head coach, I looked at them a little harder. I will be there January 19 for my official visit. The sanctions against them do not hurt them at all. I have been there before, I like the coaches and I have a lot of interest in them."
OKLAHOMA: "I had a great in-home visit with coach B (Bill Bendenbaugh) last Sunday and we have had some great talks. Him and I talk really well together. I have been trying to get out there, but I will get out there in January. They definitely get one. I have a good relationship with coach B, so I want to get out on the campus now."
FAVORITES: "I do not have a top school or anything like that right now. People can always think that, but I am looking at all the schools the same right now."
DECISION TIMELINE: "I am not sure yet on when I will commit. I may not wait until February though. If I feel right after my official visits, I will go ahead and do it then. I have been close before. I have thought I was ready before, but I just decided to wait. The visits will be important to me."
RIVALS REACTION: Jenkins had a very good week in Hattiesburg and he was impressive in the trenches. His recruitment has stayed about the same the last few months and some on the outside view Louisville as the favorite. Jenkins made it clear that he is not leaning towards a specific school at this time. Will he sign next week during the early signing period? It does not look like it, but there is still that possibility. If Auburn goes hard after Jenkins, then you have to watch the Tigers. If not, he is leaving the state to play college football.

Are we not pushing hard to get Tank? What's the deal with that?
Posted on 12/15/17 at 9:58 am to TigerPaw1
Wow, seems like a really weak class for the state of Alabama. Only 1 5* and only a handful of 4*s.

KN keeps mentioning "personality fit". I think staff have him as a backup option if they can't get some guys higher on the board. AU really seems to think they got a good shot at Barnes & Gouraige

Very top heavy next year tho I think you will see some guys get bumped up as season goes on. To me guys like Ja'Len Sims, DJ James & Taulia Tagovailoa are 4* calibre players. Also I don't see Brandon Mack on here but he's a DE I would keep an eye on. Plays at Alec Jackson's old high school

Auburn Crystal Ball Picks: Love, Like It, Leave It
Won't lemme copy & paste so here's summary
Love It
4* DE Kayode Oladele --> AU
- AU/OM battle with AU the clear team to beat. Will OV this weekend & commit a few days later
4* LB Channing Tindall --> UGA
- All Dawg
Like It
4* WR Justyn Ross --> CLEM
- Top 3 of AU/BAMA/CLEM with CLEM the clear team to beat. Will OV to AU & BAMA this January. Mixed opinions on how good a shot AU actually has
4* WR Anthony Schwartz --> AU
- Once a lock to UF now looks like AU lean. Doesn't appear new UF coaching staff is prioritizing him like previous one
4* OT Dylan Wonnum --> SCAR
- Family ties looking to prove to be too much
4* OL Jerome Carvin --> TEN
- Says his recruitment has been all over the map but with the new coaching staff in Knoxville thinks he stays instate
Leave It
4* TE Luke Ford --> UGA
- Says recruitment closer than u think between UGA/AU. Still not sure when Ford will make his decision, AU is battling hard
4* OL William Barnes --> UF
- Coaching change has opened things up for Barnes. UNC definitely in the race as apparently has family ties there but AU has become a threat
4* OT Richard Gouraige --> UF
- Again coaching change making this one interesting. He will OV in January. Expect UF to fight to keep his commitment
4* OG Tank Jenkins --> LOU
- Big question is will AU push for Jenkins. If they do he probably ends up with AU, if not LOU looks likely. Concern is personality fit
4* DE Andres Fox --> AU
- Recruiting really hard to figure out. Battle between AU/BAMA/LSU/STAN. Everybody not named LSU has gotten good vibes. No one sure where he leaning
3* CB Benjie Franklin -->
- Says this is a hunch pick right now. Thinks if AU pushes in January he lands with Tigers

So to sum it up, other than Oladele, Shwartz and possibly Ross, the odds of us landing any other of the players on the list are less than 50% other than the JUCO CB which KN just CB'd to us. Hmmmmm.

We are also trending the right way for Luke Ford, Richard Gouraige & William Barnes. I doubt we get all 3 but I wouldn't be shocked to see us get one from that bunch

LOL Ole Miss insider just CB'd Carvin to Memphis. No one knows wtf that kid is gonna do

I read on SECCountry a few days ago how he has kept his recruitment very close to the vest, so I don't think anyone has a good idea, and people are probably just guessing Tennessee out of default.

Now that's interesting. Honestly he's a perfect fit for Mullen's scheme. If he pulls off pushing Corral out & landing Jones then props to him. That would be a hell of a move

Auburn’s official visitors list: Two uncommitted prospects, five commits will be on Plains (SECCountry)
Not sure Goss is a take right now but we will see. He's a project player but he's got a high ceiling imo
quote:
AUBURN, Ala. — The final official visit weekend of the 2017 calendar year is here.
With early signing day approaching, much of the Class of 2018 work is complete, but it’s not over yet. The Tigers will host seven prospects on official visits this weekend, though many of them are prospects who already plan on signing with Auburn in the early signing period.
There will be five commits taking their official visits this weekend.
4-star safety Quindarious Monday
4-star quarterback Joey Gatewood
4-star linebacker Zakoby McClain
4-star linebacker/defensive end Richard Jibunor
JUCO defensive lineman Daquan Newkirk
All five of those prospects plan to sign Wednesday on the first day of the early signing period. Monday, Gatewood and Newkirk will all enroll early and will likely participate in Auburn’s bowl practices.
Then there are the two uncommitted prospects who will take official visits this weekend. Both have visited the Plains in the past, but this weekend will have major effects on each of those respective recruitments.
3-star defensive lineman Kayode Oladele
3-star offensive tackle Jalen Goss
Oladele was originally slated to take his official visit the first weekend of December. That was postponed because Auburn played in the SEC Championship Game. He moved his official visit back to Dec. 8-10 with a plan to commit on Dec. 12, his birthday, but those plans were thwarted for unspecified reason. Oladele then thought he’d wait until January for an official visit, but one again, he altered those plans.
He will take his official visit this weekend, and it remains to be seen if he’ll commit next week and sign in the early signing period. That will be the storyline to watch this weekend.
As for Goss, he’s been a regular on the Plains the back half of the season. He attended multiple Auburn games late in the year and has emerged as a priority offensive line target in the 2018 class. It remains to be seen what Goss’ plans are going forward, but the Tigers sit in solid position for the Valdosta, Ga., offensive tackle.
Not sure Goss is a take right now but we will see. He's a project player but he's got a high ceiling imo

Yea that move makes much more sense than bama for sure. Still would be nice if we could turn him our way.
