This kid just keeps showing up and making plays. I think we may do well to push for him as a CB target if we keep striking out at DB.
Love his length. Needs to hit the weight room badly tho. Very interested to see out of all these instate backup options which one we take. I like the look of Daniels in these clips. Pretty quick despite being 6'2". Excited to see him Saturday

Recruiting question of the day: Will Auburn include JUCO prospects in 2018 class? (SECCountry)
quote:
With the new early signing period approaching, it’s easy for junior college recruiting to get lost in the shuffle. In the past, this was the time of year when JUCO prospects were the focus for college coaching staffs. The early signing period has changed that some, and it’s added to the full plate for coaches this time of year.
But Auburn is covering its bases, including the JUCO ranks.
The JUCO signing period is the same 72-hour window as the high school early signing period, Dec. 20-22, so time is at a premium. But there are other JUCO prospects who will wait to graduate in May, which gives FBS programs more time to recruit them.
Here are three JUCO prospects Auburn took a look at in the Class of 2018. More names are sure to pop up, but this is a good starting point.

quote:
Daquan Newkirk, DL, Mississippi Gulf Coast
Mark this one down for the class.
Daquan Newkirk has been committed to Auburn since, technically, September 2016. He was a part of Auburn’s star-studded 2016 defensive line class that included Derrick Brown, Marlon Davidson, Antwuan Jackson, Prince Sammons, Nick Coe, Paul James III and Tashawn Manning.
Newkirk didn’t qualify academically, hence the junior college move. He dealt with some unfortunate injury issues during his first season at Mississippi Gulf Coast. Once he returned to the field, he was as agile and powerful as ever.
All the while, Newkirk remained committed to Auburn and vice versa. He re-affirmed his Auburn commitment earlier this year.
Newkirk can be a versatile asset for Auburn’s defensive line group in 2018.

quote:
Benjie Franklin, CB, Navarro
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback is one of the reported Auburn offers handed out to junior college targets since the season ended. Benjie Franklin picked up an offer from the Tigers on Dec. 7 to go along with offers from Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Ole Miss and Florida Atlantic. To my knowledge, it was the first JUCO offer Greg Brown has given to a cornerback, something he has a track record of doing at his previous stops.
Franklin isn’t a December graduate, however, so there is still time between now and his decision.
He will take an official visit to Auburn on Jan. 12-14.
As a sophomore, Franklin had a standout season at the Texas junior college. He intercepted 6 passes and had 19 pass breakups. Franklin is the No. 4-ranked cornerback in junior college.

Dominick Wood-Anderson, TE, Arizona Western
This is a long shot for Auburn, but Dominick Wood-Anderson is well worth a mention. After all, it’s likely he chooses Alabama, so it may be a name Auburn fans become familiar with regardless.
Wood-Anderson is one of the top tight end prospects nationally — high school or junior college.
He’s the No. 1-ranked tight end in junior college, and in terms of how heavily he’s been recruited, he’s probably the No. 1 tight end overall. Alabama, Texas, Oregon and Louisville have been fighting over Wood-Anderson for quite a while. At the same time, Auburn has attempted multiple times to get Wood-Anderson on campus for a visit, but it hasn’t happened.
With a growing optimism with Luke Ford, the Tigers have re-directed their tight end attention to the high school ranks, but Wood-Anderson certainly was someone the Tigers tested for a while.

Auburn and Florida WR target Anthony Schwartz has commitment date in mind (SECCountry)
quote:
Anthony Schwartz plans to announce his commitment on a public stage.
The speedy 4-star wide receiver from Plantation, Fla., told SEC Country he will make his college choice on Jan. 4 during the Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando. Schwartz has narrowed his choices down to Auburn and Florida despite showing serious interest in Houston’s track-only option.
Schwartz, once a longtime Florida lean, has trended toward Auburn recently. He unofficially visited the Tigers twice during the 2017 season, including the Iron Bowl, which is when Schwartz named Auburn as his leader for the first time publicly.
Amid the Florida coaching change, Schwartz has reconnected with the new Gators’ staff. Florida still has a legitimate chance to land the in-state prospects, but time is running out in what has become an Auburn-Florida battle.
The Tigers coaching staff went in-home with Schwartz on Wednesday night. Wide receivers coach Kodi Burns and tight ends coach Larry Porter went to south Florida to check in on Schwartz.
The 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver is fresh off a state championship run. He helped American Heritage (Fla.) to a title and one of the top programs in the national rankings. In his senior season, Schwartz caught 25 passes for 507 yards and 7 touchdowns with most of his production — 277 yards and 4 touchdowns — coming in the final three games of the playoffs.
Schwartz is perhaps most known for his elite track ability. Houston sprinters coach Carl Lewis personally recruited Schwartz to exclusively run track for the Cougars, but ultimately Schwartz’s desire to play football at the next level outweighed his continued Olympic dream.
He broke the national youth 100-meter record earlier this year, finishing the race is 10.15 seconds.
Schwartz hasn’t taken any of his official visits, and he hasn’t set anything yet. With a Jan. 4 commitment date approaching, he won’t be able to take an official visit until after he commits. As of Wednesday night, Schwartz wasn’t sure what the official visit plan would be post-commitment.
The Under Armour All-American Game will air on ESPN2 at 6 p.m. ET.

On-the-rise in-state CB reacts to Auburn offer, sets OVs (SECCountry)

On-the-rise in-state CB reacts to Auburn offer, sets OVs
Roger McCreary received his Auburn offer just this week, but his relationship with the program goes back to earlier in the year.
As a South Alabama cornerback commit, McCreary visited The Plains for a summer camp. McCreary said he didn’t have much familiarity with Auburn (and vice versa) when he made that trip. But that all changed during that visit.
Throughout the season, linebackers coach Travis Williams stayed in regular contact with McCreary. As the Tigers’ recruiting class took shape, there was (and continues to be) a glaring need at cornerback. All the more reason Auburn remained in the loop with McCreary, including hosting him for the Georgia and Alabama games.
When the in-home visit period hit, Williams stopped by Mobile, Ala., to see McCreary. Earlier this week, it was defensive coordinator Kevin Steele who went to see him. The next day, Williams called with the offer.
“By me going to the camp, that’s when they started communicating with me throughout the season. They invited me to their games against Alabama and Georgia. I talked to coach T-Will. He came to visit me last week and talked to me about how the process was going. Coach Steele came Monday and talked about my film and what he thinks I can bring. That’s when Coach Williams called and said they wanted to offer me,” McCreary said. “I was just excited.”
The lone caveat: He was still committed to South Alabama.
But not for long. McCreary de-committed from South Alabama on Tuesday morning, a move which had to be expected by the Jaguars’ coaching staff. There aren’t any immediate decisions to be made, but with multiple Power 5 programs entering the picture, McCreary knew he needed to be honest about where South Alabama stood.
Now, McCreary has a clear plan going forward.
“The plan is to keep my recruitment open and see where this takes me,” he said. “I’m going to wait on my officials and see what schools I end up feeling comfortable going to.”
McCreary has three official visits lined up, on three consecutive weekends.
He’ll visit Auburn on Jan. 12, then Alabama on 19 and finally Tennessee on Jan. 26. The Tide haven’t offered, but McCreary has recently been in contact with secondary coach Derrick Ansley. His communication with the Volunteers was initiated immediately after Jeremy Pruitt’s move from Alabama to Tennessee. He hasn’t been offered by Tennessee yet, either, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see that change soon.
McCreary is open to all remaining options, but he admits Auburn will have one major advantage over the rest of the competition.
“Auburn, they’ve been talking to me throughout the whole season,” McCreary said. “And then, during their games, I just really like the atmosphere. I know what the crowd’s like, and I really like that.”

Major 2018 target sets official, commitment soon?
Kayode Oladele‘s plans have been fluid the last couple weeks.
Originally, before attending the Iron Bowl, Oladele planned on taking his official visit the week after that game, the weekend of Dec. 2. But Auburn ended up in the SEC Championship Game, so that was rescheduled to the following week — visit Dec. 8-10 then commit on Dec. 12, Oladele’s 19th birthday.
That changed, too, largely because of Florida State hiring Willie Taggart. Oladele was committed to the Seminoles earlier this recruiting cycle, and there is a prior relationship there with Taggart. That gave Oladele additional pause, which is why he indicated to SEC Country last week that he might not take his official visit until January.
Well … mark him down for one last alteration (we think).
Oladele will now take his official visit to Auburn this upcoming weekend. He also hopes to be able to sign during the Dec. 20-22 early signing period, which means a commitment would likely come shortly after the official visit.
The decision timeline is subject to change, but Oladele will definitely be back on campus this weekend for an official visit. That’s a major win for the Tigers.
Sounds like we decided with Taggart's hire at FSU, best chance of getting him is locking him down early. Betting staff told him if he wants a spot in this class he has to jump on board now

Interested to see what visitor list looks like for this weekend. Curious to see if we have any surprises. I expect any of the early signees that haven't taken an OV do it this weekend
Posted on 12/14/17 at 11:00 am to TigerPaw1
FWIW sounds like Channing Tindall does not plan on signing early. So that's something. He's taking an OV to UGA this weekend. I think Dawgs are still the clear top team but we are still in the race. Waiting to February at least gives us a chance

Hopefully UGA gets steamrolled by OU come next year.

Alabama-Mississippi All-Star: Players make commitment predictions (Rivals)
quote:
HATTIESBURG, Miss -- There was plenty of recruiting news to be had at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game, but conjecture is more fun than news. It’s why we asked a number of players at the event to predict where some of their highest ranked peers may land next season. Below, are the responses we got when we gave prospects the chance to predict their teammates’ college futures.

Can't tell if this is a joke or not but Josh Marsh started a GoFundMe to pay his traffic ticket he got claiming he has color blindness
quote:
Colorblindness— It’s a real world problem. After dropping my parents off at the airport, like any good son would do, I was driving along and came upon a yellow light. Yellow lights mean different things to different people. To some people they mean “stop” to others the mean “speed up”. I never want to cause a wreck so I chose to speed up but while crossing the white line the yellow light proceeded to turn red (dun dun duunnn). The police officer behind me did not see that the light was yellow at first so he pulled me over.... That’s when things took a turn for the worst. He and another officer politely came to my window and I said “it was yellow” and he said “can I see your drivers license?” Then went back to the patrol car and wrote me a ticket. As I leave for Auburn this weekend I have a limited amount of time to raise funds. I know the holidays are coming up but giving is the true reason behind the season so here’s your opportunity to show generosity and have the joy of knowing you helped someone out this Christmas. Go fund me today and have a Merry Christmas!!

That has to be a borderline NCAA violation
