If you go back to last spring, i would never have guessed we would be in it this far with Hill. UGA people thought he was a lock were AU was hoping to get him on campus as much as possible

KN says that 4* OT William Barnes and 3* OG Ed Montilus are both planning on taking OVs to AU. Both said AU is a major factor in their recruitments

If Hill has visited Auburn THIS many times, he at least gave us every chance to get him.....my guess is, his family are UGA fans and that has serious pull in the state right now. Makes me sick

UGA 247 seems confident this morning that Dawgs will land Trey Hill. Also said that Gus Malzahn & Kirby Smart both plan to take their in home visits with 4* LB Channing Tindall this week. Dawgs are the team to beat for Tindall

Looks like UGA is also gonna land 4* DE Brenton Cox & are the favorites to pull 5* OG Jamaree Salyer. Smart is destroying everyone on the recruiting trail right now. Flipping Cox from OHST & then beating Bama for him. Flipping Adam Anderson back from LSU & again beating Bama for him. Probably beating us for Trey Hill. Taking lead over SCAR & us for Channing Tindall. Beating us, FSU & UF for Justin Fields. Kinda crazy

If we keep losing these kind of battles to UGA, then eventually the SECCG results will be the norm and not the exception.

Don't forget Luke Ford even though they have a 5* TE on their roster who caught like 3 passes the entire season.

I get the defensive appeal but Kirby must be some sort of wizard to sell all this offensive talent on playing for Jim freaking Chaney. Especially when there are freshman already entrenched in their positions.

What's crazy to me is they seem to be beating everybody right now in these battles. It's gonna have a bigger impact on us because GA is such an important recruiting spot for us but so far they are winning a lot more of the battles than they are losing with us, Bama, Ohio State, FSU & others. Something to watch moving forward for sure

That's been the biggest thing to me. If I am on OL or a RB then hell ya I am playing for Chaney. But a dual threat QB or an elite WR/TE? Hell no

Welp KN just CB'd Hill to UGA....

That one is gonna hurt. Seemed like we had turned things late in the season then 2 weeks later he's all Dawg. He had a chance to play early for us too.

My guess now is AU might circle back to Tank Jenkins. Wouldn't be surprised if he visited this weekend.

More bad OL news is UF just got a CB for Jerome Carving by UF insider. Hand getting his butt whooped right now. Desperately needs to land one these FL kids in Gouraige or Barnes.

Starting to think that as well. Thought he would be a boost to our recruiting efforts & just not seeing it. Has struggled to get the right 5 on the field as well the last 2 seasons. Hoping he can save this class by getting someone like Gouraige but I don't like the odds right now

I don't know where to find the stats but I remember Penn State being ranked like 100+ in sacks given up for multiple years in a row when Hackenberg was there. Not sure what his resume was that made us even interested.

That one is a bit misleading. He was dealing with the scholarship reductions & it resulted in him having less than desirable personnel. Pretty sure he had a few converted DL trying to play OL. He did some good stuff at Vanderbilt & Tulsa

Also he's done a great job of retooling the OL after bad starts the past 2 seasons. There's been noticeable improvements on some guys like Wanogho & Harrell

The problem is the fact he's had to do that 2 years in a row. For whatever reason he struggles in identifying the best starting 5 over spring & fall camp. That results in bad OL play early in the season until he mixes & matches to the right group. That's gotta improve

It wasn't his resume. I believe Gus worked with him before, at Tulsa maybe?

FWIW Hand is regarded nationally as one of the best OL teachers in the country. My big problem with him is getting the right 5 on the field. He's been a decent recruiter for us but has struggled so far this cycle. I really like Irvin & Stutts but those are kids that are gonna need a few years before they are ready. We need some impact players in this OL class & I am worried it's not gonna happen. We will see. I do think we have become a very real threat for Gouraige but getting him out of FL won't be easy

Recruits predict who Trey Hill commits to Monday night (Rivals)
quote:

Rivals 100 offensive guard Trey Hill is set to announce his commitment Monday night at his football banquet.

On Friday, the 6-foot-4, 330 pounder out of Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County announced that he is down to Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Georgia.

We asked recruits that know Hill who they think he will pick Monday. Based on their feedback, this one is close between the Tigers and the Bulldogs.

Christian Armstrong: Georgia

Brenton Cox: Auburn

Trey Dean: Georgia

Justin Fields: Auburn

Realus George: Auburn

Jatavious Harris: Georgia

Jalil Irvin: Auburn

Kearis Jackson: Georgia

Richard Jibunor: Georgia

Trevor Lawrence: Auburn

Christopher Smith: Auburn

Tommy Tremble: Georgia

Interesting split. Supposedly Hill is real close with Justin Fields so that could be encouraging for AU
