4* DE Justin Mascoll commits to Clemson. They probably won't have #1 class because of low numbers but it's gonna be ridiculously stacked
AU was always longshot for Mascoll

Understand yet?
There is nothing for me to understand because I know what you're saying. There is always room for improvements to be made be though. We had Peyton Barber get 1000, but a more talented back would've had more for example. Jovon made more impressive plays in SEC play than Barber that year so you cannot tell me it was all blocking.

He said university of Clemson too. And special Tillman wants to deny the Auburn heritage in his program.

3* DT Timaje Porter is pushing back his commitment announcement. I am guessing he's not a take for LSU or AU right now

Alabama, Auburn, in-state targets to watch at New Orleans Opening Regional (AL.com)
quote:
AL.com is on hand this weekend in New Orleans for The Opening's area regional. Nike Football puts on regionals all over the country and selects the best players who participate for this summer's Elite 11 and Opening Finals in Beaverton, Ore.
Why is this important? Why should you care? It's a chance for people who write about recruits or assign star ratings to see them in person against mostly equal competition. It's also a better chance to talk to the recruits and see where they stand in terms of picking a school.
Here are some Alabama, Auburn and in-state targets we'll be looking out for on Sunday.
Maurice Robinson, QB, Murphy - Alabama offered Robinson as an athlete, but he'll be throwing here.
Jack West, QB, Saraland - Alabama and Auburn each offered West before he started a varsity game, but he committed to Stanford before his junior year.
Lawrence Keys III, WR, New Orleans - The 5-foot-11, four-star receiver has offers from Alabama and Auburn
Jacob Copeland, WR, Pensacola, Fla. - The four-star receiver is one of the most highly-touted recruits here, and he's also high on Alabama and Auburn. He has a great relationship with AU receivers coach Kodi Burns.
Trey Sanders, RB, Port St. Joe, Fla. (IMG Academy) - The 2019 running back has been committed to Alabama for around a year and he's on the roster for this event.
Malik Heath, WR, Jackson, Miss. - The four-star receiver is committed to Mississippi State, but has an Alabama offer.
Terrance Marshall, WR, Bossier City - The elite receiver has Alabama and Auburn offers and plays for the school which fired its coach after he said Nick Saban wasn't welcome on his campus anymore.
Devonta Jason, WR, New Orleans - The physical four-star receiver is committed to Kansas, but has Alabama and Auburn offers
Kelvin Joseph, DB, Baton Rouge, La. - The cornerback is pushing five-star status and is high on Alabama even though he is committed to LSU.
Andres Fox, DL, Mobile Christian - The 6-foot-5 Fox has earned offers from powerhouses all over the country this spring, including Alabama and Auburn.
Timaje Porter, DL, Theodore - Porter is set to commit to Auburn or LSU soon.
Jordan Davis, DL, Memphis - The 6-foot-6 end committed to Alabama last December.
Dare Rosenthal, DL, Ferriday, La. - The 6-foot-6 Rosenthal told us last spring at this event that he was wavering on his Alabama commitment, and he soon decommitted. He's still on Alabama's radar, though.
Ishmael Sopsher, DL, Amite, La. - Sopsher is one of the top recruits in the 2019 class and he's a teammate of Alabama signee DeVonta Smith.
This is not a complete list of prospects, and AL.com will certainly be monitoring and writing about others at the event. Stay tuned for coverage.

RCS Orlando: Speed on display at New Speed Combine (Rivals)
quote:
Rivals100 offensive lineman William Barnes was an onlooker at Saturday’s event and volunteered to work the adidas merchandise booth during the camp. The four-star prospect said that he has no leader in the recruiting process, but says that Florida, North Carolina and Florida State are in the most frequent contact. Barnes says he’s nowhere close to making a verbal commitment.

Rivals 3 Stripe Camp: Ten players to watch in Orlando (Rivals)
quote:
Stop No. 2 of the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas will take place in Orlando on Sunday, and the Florida-based crop set to compete at the event includes its share of star power. Here, we take a look at the 10 highest-ranked players set to attend the event and examine the colleges in the mix to land them on National Signing Day.
quote:
3. William Barnes
SCHOOLS IN THE MIX: Florida, North Carolina, Auburn, Alabama
THE SKINNY: Barnes was a load at least year’s Orlando camp and should prove to be even better now. Florida seems to be the frontrunner to land his commitment, but another rush of offers could flood his recruitment this spring.
quote:
5. Richard Gouraige
SCHOOLS IN THE MIX: Clemson, Florida, Auburn, North Carolina
THE SKINNY: Gouraige is an impressive-looking physical specimen. He’s long since had a lengthy offer list and seems particularly high on Clemson. He recently visited North Carolina but seems to be nowhere close to announcing a commitment.
quote:
7. Joey Gatewood
SCHOOLS IN THE MIX: Gatewood is committed to Auburn
THE SKINNY: Gatewood has a massive frame and a number of physical tools. People make a big deal over him not being his high school team’s full-time starting quarterback. And while that means nothing, he is still developing touch and accuracy. The Auburn commit comes into this weekend with major upside and the hope that he can put it all together.
quote:
8. John Campbell
SCHOOLS IN THE MIX: Florida, Florida State, Miami, Auburn, Tennessee
THE SKINNY: Campbell’s length and lean frame make him a prospect with incredible upside. They also make him one that is in demand. Campbell holds a list of major offers for good reasons. He’s strived to become stronger over the past year and will get a chance to show off his progress against some impressive competition on Sunday

Auburn offer catches the eye of Louisiana ATH Derek Turner (Rivals)
quote:
The Latest: When 3-star athlete Derek Turner visited Auburn over the summer, he walked away impressed with the Tigers campus and program as a whole. So when he officially picked up an offer late last month, it made a major impact on his recruitment. Rivals.com recently caught up with Turner at the New Orleans stop of the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp presented by adidas to get the latest.
In His Words: “It felt pretty good to get that big offer. They told me they like my physicality on the field and the way I approach the game. They like my overall ability and my versatility. They are recruiting me as a defensive back but I play both ways and they said they like that about my game and think it would help me at the next level. I’ve been watching Auburn play for years. I actually watched the LSU-Auburn game this past year and it was very intense. I would love to play in the SEC so it’s great to have that option now. I’m going to go back sometime in July.”
Rivals Reaction: Turner’s recruitment is just starting to take off and the Tigers joining the fold is a good sign for him. Having Turner already visit and camp is a also a check in Auburn’s favor. The next step will be getting him back to town again soon.

Scout Previews Defensive Standouts Expected to Compete at The Opening New Orleans Regional Camp (Scout)
quote:
Defensive Line
A deep group of Louisiana talent led by Scout 300 four-star prospect Dare Rosenthal headlines the D-line group. Rosenthal, who could play high-major football on either side of the ball, will soon be re-classified to D-tackle on Scout. He holds offers from all over the country. He joins LSU 2018 tackle pledge Davin Cotton and 2019 standout Ishmael Sopsher as the four-star in-state headliners on the defensive line.
Big interior defensive lineman Timaje Porter is one of the best in 'Bama and he's also nearing a decision between a pair of Tigers. Will it be in-state Auburn or nearby LSU? The Mobile native will commit later this spring. Staying with the state of Alabama, three-star defensive end Andres Fox is one of the hottest prospects in the state with recent offers from Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida State, Georgia, USC and many others.
Tennessee edge defender Jordan Davis emerged at this event last year and is now committed to Alabama. Already tabbed as a blue-chip in the 2019 class, Charles Moore has several early SEC offers and possesses the ability to play inside or outside.
Linebackers
Salua Masina is expected to make the long trip from Utah to compete at Sunday's camp. The four-star prospect is a national top 150 prospect in the 2018 Scout 300 and the top outside linebacker in the state of Utah. Masina holds more than a dozen offers.
LSU pledge Micah Baskerville will be one of several prospects competing from Shreveport Evangel, one of Louisiana's most storied programs. Tall, long-framed, fast-rising Byron Hobbs will represent the state of Texas in the linebacker group. Mississippi prospect Nakobe Dean won't wear the sleeper tag long. He got his first offer in January from Mississippi State, then picked up an LSU offer earlier this month.
Defensive Backs
The secondary will be perhaps the deepest defensive position group at Sunday's The Opening New Orleans.
At the top is LSU pledge Kelvin Joseph, a position-versatile defensive back and a Scout 100 prospect who's one of the top players in the state of Louisiana regardless of class. He joins fellow LSU commit Ar'darius Washington as expected participants. Four-star Scout 300 recruit and Texas A&M pledge Jordan Moore, one of the top athletes in Texas, is also expected at Sunday's camp.
Two Kansas pledges are expected in the DB group as well: four-star cornerback Corione Harris and three-star safety Aaron Brule. Fast-rising prospects such as Joseph Foucha, Arkansas standout LaDarrius Bishop, and big-framed safety Jeremiah McDonald will also compete.

Scout Previews Offensive Standouts Expected to Compete at The Opening New Orleans Regional Camp (Scout)
quote:
Quarterbacks
Four-star quarterback Jack West is a longtime Stanford commitment who fits the Cardinal offense well as a strong pro-style passer with above-average arm strength. Justin Rogers from in-state Bossier City Parkway and D.C's Kevin Doyle own impressive offer lists including schools from all over the country.
Grant Gunnell and Chandler Fields are two big-time 2019 quarterbacks expected to compete. Gunnell already owns more than 20 Power Five conference offers from all over America. Fields has one FBS offer from Memphis and will likely become a targeted prospect in the near future.
Three-star athlete Maurice Robinson is a prep quarterback, but he has offers from Alabama, LSU, and Florida to play elsewhere.
Running Backs
Noah Cain is one of the nation's best running backs regardless of class. He's a Louisiana native who played his first two years of high school ball at Dallas-area powerhouse Guyer High School in Denton, Texas. The 2019 standout now attends IMG Academy in Florida. Cain holds offers from across the nation.
Two rising Louisiana running backs expected to compete Sunday are Devin Brumfield and Jeremy Gibson. Brumfield will soon reach double-digit offers, while Gibson owns seven, including a few Power Five offers. Texas Tech and Mississippi State are among Brumfield's offers, while the Red Raiders and Arkansas are among Gibson's offers.
Receivers/Tight Ends
Two of the best receivers in the country's 2018 class headline this group: Bossier City (La.) Parkway's Terrace Marshall and Pensacola (Fla.) Escambia's Jacob Copeland. Both wideouts will have their pick from numerous offers from all over the nation. Marshall is a national top 30 prospect in the current 2018 Scout 300, while Copeland is a top 50 prospect.
In addition to Marshall, the state of Louisiana will feature several more talented pass-catchers at Sunday's camp, such as Kansas pledge Devonta Jason, Lawrence Keys III, Ja'Marr Chase, and Jammal Houston.
Two of the top 2019 prospects expected to compete hail from the state of Texas: Cuero High's Jordan Whittington and Stafford High's Jalen Curry. Both are already nationally-recruited prospects.
Offensive Line
Tall, long-framed offensive tackle Cameron Wire leads a solid group of in-state linemen expect at Sunday's The Opening New Orleans, along with TCU commit Devin Phillips and Princeton Pines. Wire owns an impressive offer list that includes schools from the SEC, Big 12, Pac-12, Big Ten, and ACC, among others. Phillips and Pines, who has five FBS offers, will both likely play guard at the next level.
Two under-the-radar offensive linemen to watch at Sunday's camp will be interior prospects Isaac Ellis and Cedric Banks, who are also from Louisiana.

SEC class rankings across the major recruiting services: LSU holds top spot, Arkansas rises (SECCountry)
quote:
National Signing Day wasn’t all that long ago, but recruiting is a 24/7/365 business.
As such, teams are already hard at work on the 2018 recruiting class.
LSU already has a whopping 11 recruits verbally committed to next year’s class. Nationally, Penn State and Notre Dame also have 11. Only Miami (Fla.) has more with 13.
The Tigers have added a pair of 3-star recruits this month, with center Cole Smith and wide receiver Jaray Jenkins joining the fold.
Arkansas made the biggest jump in the composite rankings this week, moving up from eighth and into a tie for fourth with Auburn.
Bret Bielema andstaff added a pair of recruits this week in 4-star athlete Byron Hanspard II and 3-star tight end Luke Ford to spark the Razorbacks’ rise up the chart.
Georgia took a tumble in the composite rankings, falling from the top four into a tie for eighth place. That’s because Max Wray, a 4-star tackle, backed off his commitment to the Bulldogs earlier this week.
Texas A&M has six players pledged so far for the 2018 recruiting class, and the Aggies remain in the second spot behind LSU. A pair of 4-star offensive linemen, Colten Blanton and Luke Matthews, are the best gets so far.
The Crimson Tide, which had the nation’s best recruiting class in 2017, has four players in the fold for its Class of 2018. That’s good for third in this week’s composite rankings.
Auburn, along with Arkansas, is in the fourth spot. The Tigers added 4-star guard Jalil Irvin last week and now have four players committed.
Mississippi State has a five-man group at the moment, headlined by 4-star receiver Malik Heath, and the Bulldogs are alone in the sixth position.
Cade Mays, a 5-star tackle from Knoxville, is the only 5-star recruit pledged in the conference at the moment, and he’s staying close to home to play for Tennessee. Mays wasn’t enough to keep the Volunteers from sliding a bit in the composite ranking, to seventh place.
Kentucky (5 commitments), Florida (2), South Carolina (2) and Vanderbilt (1) round out the current rankings.
Ole Miss and Missouri have yet to secure a pledge for 2018.

KN has target watch article on RBs. Auburn is expected to sign at least 2 possibly 3 guys at this spot. Here's who are Auburn's top early targets
5* James Cook (FSU Commit) - Dalvin Cook's lil bro might not be 100% solid to FSU. AU made his top group and he plans to visit. Still too early to know if we have any shot
3* Harold Joiner - AU/LSU battle. AU was first major offer but LSU was dream offer, plans to visit for A-Day
5* Lorenzo Lingard (Miami Commit) - Seems solid to Miami but still in communication with AU and might take visits this summer
4* Asa Martin - One of AU's top targets. Florida appears to be biggest challenger and he's visiting Gators this weekend. Plans to visit AU for A Day
4* Dameon Pierce (Bama Commit) - Still talks with AU but seems solid to Bama, we could become player if he decommitted
3* Tae Provens - Speedy back that has the Vols on top but if AU pushed the could probably get him
3* Charles Strong (FSU Commit) - Recently visited AU and could return but right now others might be higher on the board
4* Master Teague - Gamecocks thought to be leader but AU became a player after recent visit and offer
5* Zamir White - There was hope Larry Porter could get AU into the hunt but right now nothing has chanced in his recruitment for AU. The Dawgs are surging for the North Carolina native right now
Obviously I would like any of the three 5*s but they seem like longshots. Of the rest give me Master Teague and Harold Joiner

4* WR Kearis Jackson told 247 he doesn't plan to commit till after the season which is good news for AU as UGA is the leader right now. He lists Georgia, Auburn, Miami and Florida as schools he's looking at because believes can play early for all of them. AU has apparently started pushing harder recently and thinks they can become major factor but the Dawgs are the team to beat. Jackon says Kodi Burns is one of the coaches he speaks the most with along with UGA coaches Kirby Smart and James Coley
Jackson is probably my 2nd favorite WR this class behind Justyn Ross. Land those 2 and AU will be in serious business

Apparently KN plans to do a class prediction each month this year. Here's his current one, says to take with huge grain of salt because it's so early.
4* QB Joey Gatewood - Both sides seem happy with each other right now and commitment expected to stick. Will visit for A Day
3* RB Shaun Shivers - Tigers plan to use him in a variety of ways including the return game
4* RB Asa Martin - AU really likes him specifically Lindsey. AU/UF battle early
3* RB Harold Joiner - AU/LSU battle early
4* WR Justyn Ross - AU/Bama battle but early on AU staff has a bit more confidence due to Ross's closeness with staff
4* WR Jacob Copeland - AU/CLEM/UF/FSU battle, something helping AU is his friendship with Gatewood
4* WR Matthew HIll - Grew up AU fan and has visited Tigers more than anyone else
4* TE Tyneil Hopper - AU/UNC battle but relationship with Larry Porter really helps
4* OG Jalil Irvin - Recent AU commit
4* OG Tank Jenkins - Visited AU more than anyone else but no one knows much about his recruitment right now. Tigers looking to sign one more interior guy with Irvin
4* OT Richard Gouraige - High on AU despite never visiting. AU/CLEM/UF/UNC are battling. Expected to visit AU soon
4* OT Christian Armstrong - Called this a shot in the dark pick, AU/FSU/UGA battle
3* Buck Richard Jibunor - Very high on AU's board and plans to visit again next weekend, could commit soon
4* DE/DT Daquan Newkirk - Longtime AU commit who still solid
4* DT Coynis Miller - Keeps going back and forth on this one. Grew up Bama fan but AU jumped on him early. More confidence in Tuscaloosa than Auburn right now but still early. Says CB pick for AU still but has thought about changing it a few times
3* DE Andres Fox - Says another tough call with gut saying Alabama (I agree) but AU has done great job recruiting him. We were one of his first legit offers and are still very much in the race
4* LB Quay Walker - Teammates with Big Cat, battle between AU/UGA/FSU
4* LB Nathaniel Watson - AU legacy that has visited AU a ton. Something to watch tho is some schools recruiting him as a WR and he is intrigued
4* CB Jalyn Armour-Davis - AU/FSU battle with Tigers feeling good because they jumped on early however Noles are a legit challenger
4* CB Jordan Miner - AU/UF battle with Tigers recent offer being called a "game changer". Recruitment expected to take awhile as he wants to take all 5 official visits
3* CB/S Juanyeh Thomas - Great athlete who could play multiple spots in secondary, recently visited AU and is high on Tigers
3* S/ATH Kolbi Fuqua - KN calls him most underrated kid in the state, could play WR or S. Expect more on him in the future
Based off this prediction KN says Tigers would finish with 268.16 points which last year would have made us the 8th ranked class
This is an extremely optimistic prediction. Funny earlier this week he predicted Miller to Bama now has him back at AU. I would be pumped tho if we pulled this class in February
4* QB Joey Gatewood - Both sides seem happy with each other right now and commitment expected to stick. Will visit for A Day

Finally watched some Bo Nix highlights
Holy crap this kid is a boss... Incredibly fast with a very accurate arm and quick release. Still has 2 years of high school. He could end up being #1 QB in 2019 class. I will melt super hard if we somehow miss on him

Why Auburn, LSU in-state defensive line target Timaje Porter pushed back commitment date (AL.com)
quote:
Theodore defensive tackle Timaje Porter won't say if he would have committed to Auburn or LSU on March 24, but his visit to LSU on Saturday definitely gave him more to think about.
The 6-foot-2, 340-pound Porter, a three-star recruit per the 247Sports composite rankings, announced late Saturday night that he was pushing back his commitment date to a date to be determined.
"I thought I had my mind made up, but I had a good visit to LSU," Porter said Sunday at the New Orleans Opening Regional. "I'm going to sit down and talk to my parents more about it. I just feel like it would be better to wait instead of rush through it.
"I know I said it would be better to get it done and focus on my team, but now I need to focus on what's best for me. It'll be soon, but it won't be as soon as I thought it would be."
Porter, who is going into his third season as a starter for the Bobcats, is hoping to make trips again to LSU and Auburn. He said other schools like Mississippi State, Southern Miss and South Alabama are trying to get in the mix, but he will choose between Auburn and LSU.
"That visit went well," Porter said of Saturday's Junior Day trip to LSU. "I talked to (defensive line) Coach (Pete) Jenkins and he said it would be nice to have me out there again. I'll definitely go to another practice and get some 1-on-1 time with him and Coach Orgeron. I also want to try and make another visit to the Plains."
Auburn has long been one of the top schools for Porter.
"There's nothing I don't like about Auburn," Porter said. "I love everything about it. The brotherhood, the coaches and players love each other and put real time in investing what they want to get accomplished out there."
Porter has spent the offseason working on his conditioning. He said his weight is where it started, but he dropped the bad weight.
Porter ran a 5.6 in the 40-yard dash during Opening testing on Sunday, better than the 6.2 he was used to running. While his teammates did weight work in January and February, he was running to shed the weight. After that, he improved his bench press to 350 pounds and added good weight.
Porter still plans to commit in the next few months.
"It'll get done before the start of my senior season," Porter sai. "It'll get done after spring ball or maybe during spring ball. Whenever I feel it and whenever God tells me it's the right time to commit, that's when I'll do it."

Stanford QB commit Jack West earns Elite 11 invite, plus more from New Orleans Opening Regional (AL.com)
quote:
Saraland's Jack West showed why he is one of the top quarterbacks in the country on Sunday at the Opening Regional in New Orleans.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound West, a four-star recruit ranked as the No. 6 pro-style quarterback and No. 98 overall recruit, earned an invite to the Elite 11 finals. He'll be one of 24 quarterbacks who go to California in June and compete for a spot at Nike Football's The Opening Finals in late June.
"I'm competing with the top guys in the country and learning from some of the best coaches in the country, so it's going well," West said earlier Sunday.
West and Justin Rogers, a 6-foot-4 four-star quarterback from Bossier City, Fla., earned Elite 11 invites.
West committed to Stanford before his junior season. He has been there for a game and for a campus visit. He'll enroll there next summer.
"It's a different atmosphere than down here, obviously, but it's a beautiful stadium and a beautiful campus so I love to go out there as much as I can," West said.
He said he's in touch with Alabama, but nothing is changing his mind about Stanford.
"I stay in contact with them a little bit, but at the end of the day, I'm going to Stanford University and that's my place," West said.
West earned several offers before he started a varsity game. Now, he's going into his third year as a starter for Saraland.
"No. 1, to grow as a leader and grow to get to know the game even better," West said of his senior season goals. "Going out to Stanford, they have so many different things they put on a quarterback. It's really just developing my game."
More from The Opening Regional in New Orleans
The following players earned invites to The Opening in Beaverton, Ore.
* Kelvin Joseph, a four-star cornerback from Baton Rouge, La. He is committed to LSU, but there is mutual Alabama interest.
* Corione Harris, a four-star cornerback from New Orleans. He is committed to Kansas.
* Micah Baskerville, a three-star linebacker from Shreveport, La., who is committed to LSU.
* Terrace Marshall, a five-star receiver from Bossier City, La. He is the top prospect in Louisiana. Here's why he isn't considering Alabama right now.
Alabama defensive end commit Jordan Davis from Memphis and Mobile Christian defensive end Andres Fox, an Alabama and Auburn target, each made the Final 5 defensive linemen.
More players from this regional, which featured recruits from Alabama, Louisiana, the Florida panhandle and other nearby states, will eventually get invited to The Opening finals.
Some other notes, which will lead to more stories throughout this week. AL.com will be at the Atlanta Opening Regional next Sunday.
** Read why Theodore DL Timaje Porter won't make his commitment this Friday between Auburn and LSU
** Murphy QB Maurice Robinson was throwing with the top group of quarterbacks at the event, though many schools want him as an athlete, including Alabama. He is set on playing quarterback, though.
** New Orleans, La., four-star receiver Devonta Jason is committed to Kansas. He said Auburn has tailed off a bit in his recruitment.
** The receiver group was strong here and I expect more Opening invites to come, including with four-star Jacob Copeland from Pensacola. He likes Auburn a lot. Alabama isn't in the picture right now. Jason looked the part. Malik Heath is an Alabama target. Metairie, La., three-star JaMarr Chase also was impressive. He said he speaks to Kodi Burns at Auburn from time to time, and Burns really wants to get him on campus. If he comes to campus, his recruitment by Auburn could intensify.
** I thought for sure Alabama DE commit Jordan Davis would earn an Opening Invite. There's a good chance he will. He was being coached on how he needs to be more consistent afterwards, but he looks the part. He's very solid to Alabama but visited LSU this weekend.
** Spoke with New Orleans three-star safety Joseph Foucha. He's excited about his recent Alabama offer and how Auburn was one of the first schools to offer him. More on him this week.
** The combine had some 400 participants there. Plenty of under-the-radar guys stand out. One such was Carver-Birmingham receiver Cameron McKinney. He's 6-foot-3 and 185 pound receiver who looks the part. He plays it for most of the time. He wasn't perfect on the day, dropping a red zone pass in the end zone, but he showed some glimpses. Someone close to him told me they believe he's a Power 5 guy but doesn't have much exposure yet.
