Not that anyone was still holding out hope but all the guys who had put in CBs for Fields to AU have no changed them.

Yeah, that's what I am thinking prior to reading anything you post.

I guess we'll both have to suffer.

How did A-List prospects perform in Week 4? (AL.com)
quote:

See how members of the AL.com A-List performed in the third week of Alabama high school football.

1. Justyn Ross, WR, Central-Phenix City: Ross and the Red Devils did not play. Their scheduled game against Kathleen (Fla.) was cancelled.

2. Jalyn Armour-Davis, ATH, St. Paul’s: The Alabama commit injured his knee on a first-quarter punt return in St. Paul’s 9-6 win over Williamson and did not re-enter the game.

3. Coynis Miller, DL, Jackson-Olin: Miller had four tackles and a sack in Jackson-Olin’s 28-6 loss to Homewood.

4. Asa Martin, RB, Austin: The Auburn commit ran for 253 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries as Class 6A No. 1 Austin rolled past Hazel Green 63-21.

5. Seth Williams, WR, Paul Bryant: Williams returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown and had two catches for 23 yards in his team’s 33-7 loss to McAdory. He also had two TDs called back due to penalties.

6. Harold Joiner, RB, Mountain Brook: Joiner finished with just 59 yards on 21 carries in Mountain Brook’s 40-13 loss to Class 7A No.3 Thompson.

7. Jack West, QB, Saraland: Stanford commit Jack West went 11-of-14 for 193 yards and four touchdowns as Saraland upset No. 2 Blount 42-14.

8. Andres Fox, DE, Mobile Christian: Fox and the Class 3A No. 1 Leopards rallied to beat Bayside Academy 27-17. Fox had four assists, one pass breakup, three tackles and four QB hurries. The Leopards held Bayside to 10 second-half yards.

10. Tank Jenkins, OL, Park Crossing: Jenkins and his teammates defeated Northview 47-9.

11. James Foster, QB, Sidney Lanier: The Missouri commit threw six TD passes – all in the first half – as the Poets remained undefeated with a 51-7 win over Russell County. He was 13-of-18 overall for 324 yards and also ran for 33 yards.

12. Myles Mason, DB, Hewitt-Trussville: In his 2017 debut, Mason rushed five times for 71 yards and two touchdowns in Hewitt’s 49-7 win over Grissom.

13. Tae Provens, RB, Madison County: The LSU commit sat out a second straight game with an ankle injury. Madison County beat North Jackson 21-19.

14. Allen Love, DL, Huffman: Love’s team overcame four blocked punts to beat Tuscaloosa County 32-29.

15. Cam Taylor, QB/ATH, Park Crossing: Taylor rushed for 89 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 11 carries and completed 8-of-14 passes for 83 yards and a score in Park Crossing's 47-9 win over Northview.

Shoulda posted this before the game but whatever...

Breaking down Auburn’s surprisingly star-powered visitor’s list for the Mercer game (SECCountry)
quote:

Despite the lower-tier opponent, coming off a tough top-25 loss, Auburn is finding a way to make a statement in recruiting.

The Tigers hosted a hoard of top talent for the Georgia Southern game in Week 1. They’ll bring in another solid contingent for the Week 3 matchup against Mercer.

Auburn’s primary focus for this game was commits, as well as primary Class of 2019 targets. But there are a few intriguing 2018 targets and 2020 targets sprinkled in, as well.

Auburn commits

3-star safety Kolbi Fuqua, Cordova, Ala.
4-star running back Asa Martin, Decatur, Ala.
3-star offensive lineman Kameron Stutts, Killen, Ala.
4-star linebacker Michael Harris, Tucker, Ga.
3-star receiver Shedrick Jackson, Hoover, Ala.
4-star receiver Matthew Hill, Snellville, Ga.
3-star defensive lineman Daquan Newkirk, Orlando, Fla.

Mercer presents another opportunity to show the guys already committed that Clemson was an outlier. Auburn will have a running back, an offensive lineman and two wide receivers on campus for the game, so it’ll be imperative for the Tigers to open things up offensively.

Of this group, there isn’t anyone on flip watch, so to speak. Auburn fans will be mindful of Martin until he signs with the Tigers over the Crimson Tide. But this will be his second trip to the Plains in as many home games, which is a positive sign. (Update: Quick will now be in Tuscaloosa for the Crimson Tide game against Colorado State. It’s unlikely he makes it to Auburn, but I’ll keep you updated).

Targets committed elsewhere

3-star cornerback Terell Smith, Snellville, Ga. (Minnesota commit)
4-star 2019 offensive tackle Pierce Quick, Trussville, Ala. (Alabama commit)

The only 2018 target who will be there is an interesting one. Smith is a 6-foot, 170-pound cornerback who is committed to Minnesota.

He’s from Snellville, Ga., and goes to South Gwinnett High School, which is a rival school for Matthew Hill. I’m sure the two of them have had their share of matchups, so I’ll be curious to get Hill’s take on Smith. Smith received offers from Florida and Michigan State this fall, and considering this is a position of desperate need, I wouldn’t be shocked to see an offer from the Tigers on Saturday.

Quick is committed to Alabama, and I think the apocalypse is as likely of an event as Quick ending up anywhere other than Tuscaloosa.

He’s one of the best offensive linemen in the country for the 2019 class. Despite the expectation he’ll be at Auburn, when I spoke with Quick on Thursday afternoon, he said it wasn’t 100 percent that he’d be there. I’ll keep you posted. Either way, this is a pipe dream for Auburn. Quick grew up a huge Crimson Tide fan and pledged to Alabama in an SEC Country commitment letter.

When he committed, Quick told me he had a conversation with Auburn coach Gus Malzahn who said he was still going to actively recruit the Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) until he signed. This is another example that Auburn’s efforts haven’t stopped.

Quick didn't make the trip which is fine by me

Priority uncommitted 2019 targets for Auburn

4-star offensive guard Keiondre Jones, Hogansville, Ga.
3-star athlete Malik Washington, Lilburn, Ga.
4-star offensive lineman Clay Webb, Oxford, Ala.
4-star wide receiver Shamar Nash, Memphis, Tenn.
3-star safety Jeremiah Gray, Charlotte, N.C.
3-star running back Travis Tisdale, Valdosta, Ga.
3-star center Louis Paul Smith, Biloxi, Miss.
Unranked cornerback Rhasaan Christian, Pinson, Ala.
3-star offensive tackle Chris Akporoghene, Seymour, Tenn.

Jones (who just announced he’s not doing interviews, so there won’t be many takeaways), Webb, Smith and Akproroghene make up an impressive 2019 offensive line group of visitors.

Webb is close friends with Quick, and I’m sure they’ll be attached at the hip during the visit, which may or may not be helpful for the Tigers. Jones is a top want for every program in the southeast, so the fact Auburn can get him over for a low-profile game is telling. Smith might be on offer watch. Auburn has stayed in regular contact with him and has sent him a ton of mail.

Nash will end up being one of Auburn’s top wide receiver targets in the 2019 class. The Tigers offered him early and the feelings have been mutual since. It’s nice to get a playmaker of his caliber on campus, especially since you have to assume the receivers will look more crisp against Mercer.

Uncommitted 2020 target for Auburn

Unranked linebacker Quandarrius Robinson, Birmingham, Ala.

Robinson attended the Georgia Southern game, as well. He attends the same high school as Auburn linebacker TD Moultry and Tigers defensive tackle target Coynis Miller. At 6-foot-4, he is starting to look like someone with a grown man’s body, yet he’s only in his sophomore season at Jackson-Olin High.

Auburn going 2-for-2 with Robinson in attendance for home games shows the Tigers are narrowing in on another future prospect from the same school. Could Jackson-Olin become a pipeline?

4 Auburn coaches hit recruiting trail Friday night, including Gus Malzahn (SECCountry)
quote:

Four members of Auburn’s coaching staff, including the head man himself, will be on the recruiting trail Friday night for high school football games, SEC Country has confirmed.

The main event of the evening will take place in Houston County, Ga., the home of 4-star offensive guard Trey Hill. Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and offensive line coach Herb Hand will attend Hill’s high school rivalry game against Warner Robins.

This trip comes on the heels of Hill visiting Auburn for its season opener against Georgia Southern. Hill plans to unofficially visit Florida this weekend for its matchup against Tennessee.

Two Auburn coaches — wide receivers coach Kodi Burns and defensive line coach Rodney Garner — will head to the Birmingham area to scout some of their top 2018 prospects.

Burns and Garner will both attend the Hoover-Spain Park game at Spain Park High. That will give Burns a chance to see Shedrick Jackson and George Pickens, his two prized wide receiver commits at Hoover, who have had exceptional starts to the 2017 season.

Jackson plans to be at Auburn on Saturday for the game against Mercer. Pickens attended Auburn’s opener, but isn’t slated to be on the Plains for the Week 3 game.

Garner will double dip in Birmingham.

The Auburn defensive line coach also plans to go to Thompson High School in Alabaster for the Thompson-Mountain Brook High School matchup. Four-star athlete Harold Joiner is a star running back for Mountain Brook and is the primary focus of Garner’s trip. Taulia Tagovailoa, the younger brother of Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, plays quarterback for Thompson.

Joiner is expected to visit Tuscaloosa on Saturday for Alabama’s contest against Colorado State.

How Auburn commits, targets performed in their weekend games (SECCountry)
quote:

Another week, another set of dominant performances from Auburn’s commits and targets.

Running back commit Asa Martin continued his dominant tear through Alabama high school football. Wide receiver commits Shedrick Jackson and George Pickens put on more impressive performances, this time in front of Auburn coaches. Kolbi Fuqua loaded the stat sheet in ways you don’t often see.

Check out the best outings below.
