5. Justyn Ross, WR: Auburn-Alabama-Clemson battle that probably could go any way at this time. Ross isn't likely to make a commitment until later in the cycle, so a lot can still shake out. How Auburn does this season will be a factor so an improved passing game would help. Ross recently said Auburn and Clemson were recruiting him hardest, but he recently visited the Tide and that program's confidence level rises every time he steps foot on campus. What we can tell you is, as of very recently, the Clemson staff was more concerned about Auburn than Alabama. Our feeling? It's truly a three-team race.

t6. Asa Martin, RB: This appears to be an Iron Bowl battle, with Auburn and Alabama ahead of Clemson and Florida. The Tides likes its chances. Auburn feels good. He'll announce Aug. 24. Martin spent two nights in Auburn over the weekend and is said to really click with the team. He's also close with the staff. On the flip side, he's intrigued by Alabama's success and track record of getting players into the NFL. It sounds like he could visit the Tide again before the dead period begins. This one remains a toss-up as his decision date approaches.

I like Pierce more than Martin for our system but I also like the idea of beating Bama out for an instate kid they want

t6. Dameon Pierce, RB: At running back, Auburn would take either Asa Martin or Pierce and be happy. If the Tigers don't get one, they think they can get the other. At this time, Martin plans to announce Aug. 24. Pierce has no set date, but has said as recently as last weekend he's in no rush. If he wants to be at Auburn and thinks Martin could grab that spot, might he change his plans? Possibly. Pierce listed a top five that included Auburn, Alabama, Florida, FSU and Georgia. According to our intel, from that group only Florida is truly recruiting him hard.

8. Matthew Hill, WR: Auburn is the favorite here, with South Carolina probably next and Alabama also in the mix. Yes, he does appear to be a take for the Tide. Hill is a top-100 national recruit in the 247Sports rankings -- and we believe he potentially could join the class in the next month or so. He's expected to have a decision fairly soon. Auburn likes where it sits and has for awhile.

9. Dylan Wonnum, OT: The Tucker (Ga.) 4-star is a South Carolina lean (where his brother plays), but put off what was to be a summer decision and that could be seen as a positive for Auburn, which has pushed very hard of late.

t10. Zakoby McClain, LB: McClain will visit Saturday and potentially could be on commit watch. With Auburn landing Michael Harris on Monday, only two linebacker spots remain in the class and that might help put the squeeze on McClain, a 4-star prospect extremely high on the Auburn board. Even if he doesn't do something this weekend, Auburn looks like the team to beat with West Virginia also a big factor.

t10. Seth Williams, WR: Given that he lives so close to Alabama, many have never liked Auburn's prospects with the 4-star recruit. But Williams didn't attend the Tide's cookout last week and instead spent two days at Auburn. Could the Tigers make a real push here?

This seems to be a pattern with Gus. I am not sure if the staff is just too lazy, but they are getting paid waaaay too much money not to recruit someone like Pierce hard.

It's poorly worded. He's trying to say that UF is the real threat. Bama, FSU & UGA are not pushing hard right now, have other guys on their list. In VIP update on Pierce earlier this week KN says AU is recruiting Pierce "equally as hard" as Asa Martin

We are recruiting Pierce hard. He's saying that UF is the only other team that's a real threat right now

Also guys like Justin Fields, Justyn Ross, Asa Martin, Seth Williams, Trey Hill and countless others all talk about us recruiting them hard

Good to know. From the context of KN's post, he seemed to be saying that only UF was recruiting him hard. We so have a few CBs for him lately which seems to be a good sign.

Ya that was badly worded on his part. Pierce is a top target and getting plenty of attention
