Remember this name ... (247)
Sounds like this dude balled out today

TE Michael Parker
quote:
A basketball guy who is transitioning to Football. His stock is soaring with the Auburn staff. And he just ran the 40 and 4.64 seconds. Add his size that is extremely good.
quote:
he Tigers have been evaluating tight ends all week and this guy appears to be shooting up the board.
quote:
Tight end is such a developmental position. It might be the one spot where you truly can find a diamond in the rough.
There is not much film on this guy because he has been mostly playing basketball. But he already has been pulled to the side by Gus Malzahn and Chip Lindsey.
quote:
Think he measured in at 6-5 3/4
quote:
Guys, Auburn may have found its tight end.
quote:
Both his brothers are walk-ons at Bama.
Auburn's staff loved this guy today. Impressed them at every level -- speed, agilty, hands, quickness, mental toughness.
Be surprised if he isn't offered. But I've been surprised before.
Sounds like this dude balled out today

40 inch vertical

Killed it in one-on-ones.
The AU staff was blown away.
Great showing.

LSU just did the whole teammates commit again. That's like the 3rd or 4th time they've done that. O is taking some questionable guys to land other studs

Uncle Vincent would be proud of those numbers

2018 WR Shedrick Jackson Burns Up Auburn Camp
quote:
JASON CALDWELL
6:15 PM
Hoover, Ala.--Already with an offer from the Auburn Tigers, talented 2018 wide receiver Shedrick Jackson showed up on the Plains ready to make a statement.
Mission accomplished.
Measuring in at 193 pounds at 6-1, Jackson was timed at better than 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash by every watch including a best time of 4.31. Throw in a vertical leap of 40 inches and a broad jump of 10’11” and you have a dominating performance from the Hoover standout.
“I feel like I came out and did some good stuff,” Jackson said. “I just wanted to come out and get better and compete. It was just like any normal Hoover workout, come out and do what I do.
“It was huge,” he added of his numbers. “You come out here, you’ve got to get the momentum going. You have to get the juices going and when you do something like that it makes you feel great, confident to do what you’ve got to do the rest of the day.”
Working with Auburn WR Coach Kodi Burns as well as Coach Gus Malzahn, Jackson said it was a great experience and he got some good feedback from his day with them.
“It was great,” Jackson said. “It was the first time I have come down and worked with Kodi. I have never been to a camp before. It was good to get some work with him to see what it was like and what the tempo was like and how they are coaching on the field.
“It was great to see what he was like on the field,” he added. “I have attended practices but until you get on the field with him and him talking and giving you input, that’s what it’s about.”
With a decision likely coming soon via a twitter video, Jackson said he doesn’t have a public leader but Auburn has plenty of positives going at the moment with a lot of love from Malzahn being one of the most important things.
“It was great,” Jackson said. “Learning from the man himself. Watching him back when I was in the eighth grade and ninth grade coming up, with the stuff he does is just great.”

Some LSU speculation that getting Scott yesterday might have taken Fox's spot
Also no idea how reliable but some posters on LSU 247 site seem to think AU is now team to beat for Harold Joiner. Not sure on that one

quote:Relax. Teams that recruit a kid the hardest don't always win the race. Often times but not always. Also it could be a ploy. You never know.

Well it sure as shite doesn't hurt. I've already vented about this before but we are almost NEVER mentioned as the school recruiting these top ranked kids the hardest. We have a legit chance to land a potential program changing player and we are the ONLY school in his top group not mentioned as making a noteworthy effort to land him.

JLee is the biggest douchebag in AU media! He knows damn well that Shedrick wanted to announce on his own. Everyone already knows that if he is announcing, it will be to AU.
Why spoil what little bit of drama the kid might have left?

And like I have said before that's not completely true. Guys like Seth Williams, Justyn Ross, Matthew Hill and Juanyeh Thomas have all mentioned we are a school recruiting them the hardest

I do however share your frustration over not being mentioned in that list. I had the same reaction with Andres Fox as well. However, I don't doubt that Chip Lindsey and company are gonna give it everything they've got so we will see how it shakes out

Parker wows staff, lands Auburn offer (247)
quote:
Michael Parker of Huntsville (Ala.) Westminster Christian isn't yet a well-known recruit but while camping at Auburn on Saturday the tight end prospect showed why his stock has been on the rise.
At 6-feet-6, 230 pounds, he posted a 4.64-second 40-yard dash, 10 feet, 3-inch broad jump and 32.2-inch vertical.
He stole the show in one-on-ones, high-pointing balls and catching everything in his vicinity.
And, in a workout with Tigers coach Gus Malzahn giving him instructions, he shined as Malzahn pushed him to see how much energy and mental toughness he had.
By the time the day ended, Parker had added a new offer to his ever-growing list.
“I’m definitely excited,” Parker said. “First SEC offer.”
Parker grew up focusing mostly on basketball. He didn’t start playing football until the eight grade. Last year was his first playing tight end.
He continues to play hoops and competes in track. In that sport, he takes part in the 100 meters, 200, 4x100, long jump, javelin and shot put.
As for Saturday’s performance, he noted, “I thought I did pretty good. It was really good competition. … It’s the biggest (offer) so far, for sure.”
His offer from Auburn came directly from Malzahn, who watched Parker like a hawk throughout the camp.
“He thought I did a really good job competing and he said he tried to tire me out to see kind of what my personality was and how I’d compete,” Parker said.
At this stage, Parker, whose two other brothers are Alabama walk-ons, admitted his pass catching is his strength.
“Probably my weakness would be blocking, but I like blocking,” Parker said. “I’m not scared to hit anybody for sure.”
Auburn is “definitely high up” after the offer. But as Parker continues to gain more attention, he’s in no rush to pick a college.
“Still kind of taking everything in,” Parker said.

5-Star QB Justin Fields says 7 schools stand out (247)
quote:
Five-star quarterback Justin Fields has had a busy month of June. He started it off with a decommitment from Penn State, he then hit the road for visits to Georgia, Auburn and Florida State. After those visits were complete he rejoined his Cam Newton All-Star 7on7 team for the IMG National Championship, held this weekend in Bradenton Fla.
“(Being coached by Cam Newton) It’s definitely great. Growing up he was someone I modeled my game after, so it’s great learning from him,” Fields said.
When it comes to recruiting Fields says he does not have a leader, but there are a handful of teams that standout.
“I’m not talking to every school that’s offered me but I am talking to a certain amount of schools. I’m open to others but just not talking to them right now.”
Who are the teams in that top group?
“Georgia, Florida State, Florida, Auburn, North Carolina, Ole Miss and Alabama a little bit. I just don’t talk to the (Alabama) coaches as much as the others.”
Fields says he has three teams recruiting him the hardest right now.
“Georgia, Florida and Florida State,” he said.
Some have speculated that Fields sisters commitment to UGA to play softball could give the Dawgs the edge.
“I’m real close to my sister and everything, we’re great friends, but that’s not going to determine where I go. She just wants the best decision for me.”
Fields says he plans to take a trip to the University of Florida. He was not specific as to when it will occur, but he does know he’ll make it to Gainesville this summer.
“I want to be with the coaches, I just want to hangout there and just see what they are, relax back and not have it be all about football,” Fields said.
As for a final decision timeline, Fields did not know when that will be.
“I’m not sure when yet, I have no idea. I honestly do not know where I’ll go,” he added. “It’s going to come down to academics, player development, just knowing the coaches can make me into a better quarterback and I guess the relationships I have with the coaches and the relationships my parents have with those coaches.”

Steve Wiltfong has a much more positive article for AU & Fields. Says that what stands out to him about AU is Chip Lindsey and fact he's bringing more passing. Also said he was impressed with Malzahn's QB history (yes he said that
). Apparently we showed him a slideshow of QBs that have played under Malzahn and it impressed him. Says at most Stidham will be there 2 years and so the QB room intrigues him

Ohio State 247 reporting that Michael Harris did not get greenlight to commit to Ohio State. Sounds like he still has some ACT stuff he needs to get cleared before they would consider taking him. There's a chance another LB commits to them this week. If that happens you have to think chances Harris lands in Columbus drops big time
He still says OHST is his #1 team but the fact he left trip uncommitted is big for us
