Larry McCammon's 2 TDs lead Hoover past Park Crossing, plus recruiting notes (AL.)
quote:
Larry McCammon ran for two touchdowns of 60-plus yards in the third quarter of Hoover’s 34-23 spring game win over Park Crossing at Jacksonville State on Saturday.
The junior put the Bucs up 21-10 early in the third quarter and answered the Thunderbirds’ Uziah McDaniel’s 48-yard touchdown with another long score to give Hoover a 28-16 lead.
Park Crossing’s Cam Taylor threw a 37-yard touchdown pass on an athletic play late in the third quarter to Doron Mitchell to cut the Thunderbirds’ deficit to 28-23.
Backups played in the fourth quarter with a running clock. Hoover 14-year-old sophomore quarterback Robby Ashford, who already has offers from MIssouri and Illinois, scored on a 20-yard run, the final 10 coming after his left shoe came off.
Taylor, who is coming off an ACL tear from last season, hit Mitchell with a 14-yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter to give Park Crossing a 10-0 lead.
Jalen Parker threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Shedrick Jackson and Hoover took a 14-10 halftime lead after Vonte Brackett’s 5-yard touchdown run.
Recruiting notes:
Alabama offensive line coach Brent Key and Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand were on hand and got a good look at Park Crossing right tackle Tank Jenkins. He has an Auburn offer, but the four-star recruit has not yet been offered by Alabama.
Other coaches spotted include those from Florida Atlantic, UAB, Mississippi State and Jacksonville State.
Cam Taylor is a good high school quarterback, and he’ll play at a power 5 school at the next level at some position. The three-star recruit has offers from the likes of Mississippi State and Michigan.
Hoover’s Jackson recently visited Auburn. The great-nephew of Bo Jackson still has no favorites but could commit this summer somewhere. Mississippi State and Georgia Tech are also among schools in the mix.
Read more on Jackson, a three-star receiver, from earlier this spring.
Hoover’s McCammon picked up an offer from UAB and 6-foot-5 junior receiver George Pickens got an offer from Mississippi State.
Hoover junior linebacker Nick Curtis, at 6-foot-5, 205 pounds, might have been the most impressive defensive prospect in this game. He’s lean with plenty of room to grow and made play after play. I expect his stock to really rise.
This game was filled with many more prospects. Check this report from Hoover earlier this spring and check back to AL.com in the coming days for more on Park Crossing.

Paul Tyson throws for 3 TDs in Hewitt-Trussville's spring game win over Cordova (Tenn.) (AL.com)
quote:
Paul Tyson threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns in Hewitt-Trussville’s 45-26 spring game win over Cordova (Tenn.) at Jacksonville State on Saturday.
It was the 6-foot-4 Tyson’s first extensive varsity action. The great-grandson of Paul Bryant now has offers from Jacksonville State, Kentucky, Connecticut and Army.
Tyson completed 15-of-21 passes. He threw a 10-yard touchdown to sophomore Malachi Moore on the first drive and hit sophomore Dazalin Worsham with strikes of 60 and 51 yards.
“I was really pleased with Paul,” Hewitt-Trussville coach Josh Floyd said. “I thought he made some big-time throws and moved in the pocket well. We put a lot in this spring. The great thing about where we’re at as a program is that our guys are learning as a young age.”
That was evident by the performance of Worsham, who had four receptions for 130 yards.
“I thought we saw some bright spots with different players,” Floyd said. “We had some different weapons, and that was good to see.”
Coaches from Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State, UAB, Florida Atlantic, Arkansas State and more were on hand to see the game and scout prospects.
Cordova features offensive tackle Jerome Carvin, an SEC offensive line recruit with Alabama and Auburn offers. Running back Jeremy Banks broke off two long touchdown runs for Cordova. He has offers from UAB, Virginia Tech and others.
Huskies offensive tackle Pierce Quick has already committed to Alabama.
Hewitt-Trussville did have two big offensive plays called back, including a long touchdown from Tyson to Logan Pitts.
“It kind of looked like we did all spring, which was a little bit inconsistent but showed some big plays at times,” Floyd said.

Where Alabama, Auburn stand with state's top OL Tank Jenkins (AL.com)
quote:
Some out-of-state schools are recruiting Park Crossing star offensive lineman Marcus "Tank" Jenkins the hardest, but Alabama and Auburn are still in the picture.
Alabama offensive line coach Brent Key and Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand were at Park Crossing's spring game against Hoover on Saturday at Jacksonville State.
Mr. Football 2016
Class 6A lineman of the year finalist Marcus Jenkins of Park Crossing Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, during the Alabama Sports Writers Association Mr. Football banquet in Montgomery, Ala. (Julie Bennett/jbennett@al.com)

Jenkins, a 6-foot-3, 325-pound four-star recruit currently ranked as the state's top lineman, was playing right tackle. He figures to play guard in college.
"He's just a strong kid that's very physical," Park Crossing coach Smitty Grider said. "The thing I like about him is that he's such a nice guy off the field, but when he steps in between the lines, he's got a switch he flips and he's just a nasty offensive lineman. He's the best drive blocking offensive lineman I've ever coached in 30 years of being around it.
"I think he'll be a great offensive guard for somebody."
Grider said he thinks Jenkins will announce a top five soon, but that Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma "are probably the three hardest after him."
Auburn has offered Jenkins, while Alabama has not. The big reason is that Alabama wants to see Jenkins perform at their camp, and he has not done so yet.
"Auburn likes him a lot," Grider said. "Alabama wants to see him in camp. That's kind of their M.O."
Grider said the plan is for Jenkins to participate at Alabama's camp this summer.
After that, Jenkins' recruiting picture could start to clear up. He has every SEC offer, except Alabama, Grider said. Other power schools such as Oklahoma, Michigan, Miami and Louisville have offered.
"I think it'll be later in the process when he decides," Grider said. "But his desire is to graduate early and get in school in January, and he's working on doing this."
Jenkins is ranked as the state's No. 7 prospect and top offensive lineman. He's also ranked as the No. 242 prospect nationally and No. 10 offensive guard in the 247Sports composite rankings.

Recruiting notes from the trail: Thompson, Lee-Montgomery, Central-Phenix City (AL.com)
AU recently offered Kight. Thompson has got a lot of talent this year
quote:
MONDAY - THOMPSON
The main attraction here is Taulia Tagovailoa, as the younger brother of Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is a four-star quarterback with offers from Alabama, Oregon and more. He had a decorated two-year career in Hawaii and threw for nearly 7,000 yards as a two-year starter at a different high school than Tua, and was on pace to break his records.
But the family will be in Alabaster to get closer to Tua and Taulia has his chance to face some legit competition. He's not as big as Tua and is right-handed. He's probably more comparable, based on size, to Tate Martell, a five-star in last year's class who signed with Ohio State. Taulia's escapability will be huge for Thompson and he can hit the throws.
His presence will benefit receiver M.J. Edwards the most. Edwards took a slant and broke free for what would have been around a 70-yard touchdown if this was a real game.
"He's the sleeper," Thompson coach Mark Freeman said. "He's probably 6-3, 200. There's probably 10 schools coming in here to lay eyes on him."
Thompson's biggest prospect in size is defensive tackle Mackie McNeal. The 6-foot-5, 308-pound three-star recruit has SEC offers from Ole Miss, Tennessee and Mississippi State, but he's being held out this spring with a back injury.
Thompson has some very good linebacker prospects in Jalen Rayam and KJ Robertson, both of whom are in the 6-foot-1, 215-pound range. Both have FBS offers from the likes of UAB and South Alabama with SEC teams looking in.
Freeman feels that all-state safety Myles Brown will get some opportunities.
The headliner in 2019 aside from Tagovailoa is left tackle Amari Kight. At 6-foot-5, he has a Mississippi State offer and more will come.
Coaches spotted: UAB (X2), Troy, Arkansas State

TUESDAY - LEE-MONTGOMERY
Lee has two SEC prospects in the year following Henry Ruggs III's graduation.
Younger brother Kevontae' Ruggs is 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds and could be a safety at the next level or get even bigger and play linebacker. He's playing receiver for Lee this year and it will be interesting to see how that goes. He's certainly athletic.
JaKorey Hawkins is a cornerback whose stock continues to rise. Maybe he'll find it easier in practice this year without Henry on the other side, but you have to like his confidence.
Also in this class, offensive lineman Cameron Hill has FCS offers. Cornerback Edward Johnson is 6-foot-2 with plenty of talent but may have to start out in junior college. Safety Chris Ware is also getting attention.
In the 2019 class, 6-foot-4 defensive end Phillip Hopkins is long and rangy and offensive tackle Will Derico (6-foot-5, 305) has the size to attract attention.
I think AU is hoping to take both instate CBs this year in Armour-Davis and Hawkins. We will see if it happens

WEDNESDAY - CENTRAL-PHENIX CITY
This will be a school where it may not be possible to list every prospect. The Red Devils are loaded, especially in the 2019 and 2020 class.
"We've got a lot of them coming around, so we'll see where we go," said Central coach Jamey DuBose, who estimates that at least eight to 10 colleges stop by daily. "Heck, you've still got to line up and play the game."
Justyn Ross is the headliner, as the 6-foot-4 receiver has every major offer and should be a composite five-star recruit (ESPN has him too low in their national rankings).
Mississippi State recently offered two 2019 prospects, and more will come for quarterback Peter Parrish, a track champion, and running back/safety Ray Thornton (6-foot-2, 195 pounds). Thornton was at safety on Wednesday.
Mississippi State has offered 2020 receiver Eddie "E.J." Williams. More will come.
"He has a lot of similarities to Justyn Ross," DuBose said. "A lot of people want to tag him as the next Justyn Ross. That remains to be seen, but he's got a lot of talent and he's a good player."
Parrish isn't the only talented quarterback on the Central roster, as rising sophomore Tucker Melton is 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds. DuBose is high on him as well.
Senior offensive lineman Jalil Ryles (6-foot-3, 300) has offers from Connecticut, Southern Miss and others.
Senior defensive end Tyler Moore has an Appalachian State offer with Kentucky looking in. Cornerback M.J. Woods is another prospect. Latavious Calhoun is a transfer safety who wears the same number (5) as Ross and looks like him, but he wears a different color jersey in practice. DuBose said plenty of coaches have inquired about him.
There are many more to track on this Central roster.
Coaches spotted: Florida, Chattanooga, Middle Tennessee, Presbyterian
Mississippi State seems to jumping on a lot of these instate kids early. They have gotten some good underrated talent out of AL recently like De'Funnya Wilson and Beniquez Brown

Alabama has 'picked it up' with Paul Bryant 4-star receiver Seth Williams (AL.com)
Complete guess on my part but I think the loser of the Justyn Ross battle lands Seth Williams. That would honestly be a really good consolation prize. All I know is losing both Williams and Ross to Bama would suck
quote:
After a brief absence, Alabama is back among the forefront for local receiver Seth Williams' recruitment.
Williams said in March that he wasn't hearing as much from Alabama as he was from Auburn, Georgia and Ole Miss. Those three schools are keeping up the pace, but Alabama coaches are back in constant communication with the four-star receiver from Paul W. Bryant High School in Cottondale.
"They've picked it up a lot," Williams said. "(Offensive coordinator) Coach (Brian) Daboll has been talking to me and texting me. He came out to see me before track practice before the state finals."
Williams is hearing from Daboll and receivers coach Michael Locksley the most. The 6-foot-3, 202-pound Williams has had a busy spring semester, helping lead the Stampede to a Class 6A basketball state championship as a starting forward and competing well in the long jump, triple jump and 4X100 relay events at the state track finals.
Williams caught 51 passes for 626 yards and 14 touchdowns last season and also recorded 38 tackles with five interceptions and two forced fumbles. Williams also lined up at quarterback some for the Stampede, and he could do the same this fall. Bryant's spring game is Friday night at Huffman.
"Hopefully (starting quarterback Justin) Cannon keeps developing," Bryant coach Eldrick Hill said. "However, he's such a dynamic athlete that there's nothing wrong with (Williams) being back there touching it once or twice."
Williams said the lack of communication from Alabama earlier this spring isn't an issue.
"I think it was the coaching changes (on offense) and what-not, the championship game and them coming up short there," Hill said. "Everything stalled off a little bit. They reassured him that he's one of their No. 1 guys."
Auburn hasn't stopped in their pursuit. Williams said Auburn coaches "want to get me over there for their Tiger camp. They want to see me over there more." He was invited to Auburn's Big Cat Weekend for June 3, but thinks he will be out of town that day.
"They understand recruiting and understand you're going to miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take," Hill said. "They understand not all kids want to go to college where they grew up."
And with that, Hill took the conversation to another school that's rarely ever mentioned with prospects in Alabama: Maryland.
The Terrapins had two coaches recently watching a Bryant practice - former Alabama staffer Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, the defensive backs coach and receivers coach Chris Beatty. They told Hill before that they could offer Williams to "boost his offer numbers up," but Hill doesn't want schools offering his players unless they are serious.
"By the time practice was over, he said, 'You tell that kid he's got a home at Maryland if he wants it,'" Hill said. "Baltimore, D.C., interesting place. You never know with kids, what triggers then and what they fall in love with."
Williams said he hopes to visit Maryland this summer.
Right now, he's focused on his team and will set summer visits after spring practice. Williams, who nearly committed to Florida State in January, likely will wait until after the season to make a commitment.
Bryant made the playoffs for the first time in Hill's tenure last fall. This is Hill's fourth season and Williams' class was the one he pointed at when he took the job as one that could lead the Stampede to new heights. Williams is a big part of that.
"He's always been a leader, but is now stepping up to be more vocal," Hill said.
"On the field, he's just grown into a beast. He's always been big, but he's starting to realize with his size and his speed, how powerful he is."
Off the field, Williams has been just as impressive heading into his last round as a high school football player.
"I came up Sunday before spring practice," Hill said. "While I was up there cutting the grass, he was leading the charge with four or five other guys working out on their own, understanding that you've got to get the extra work in."
Williams is ranked as the state's No. 3 prospect, No. 11 receiver and No. 112 national recruit in the 247Sports composite. Check out his highlights.
Complete guess on my part but I think the loser of the Justyn Ross battle lands Seth Williams. That would honestly be a really good consolation prize. All I know is losing both Williams and Ross to Bama would suck

Hoover WR, Auburn target Shedrick Jackson moves decision timetable up (AL.com)
I think Jackson and Monday commit at Big Cat Weekend. Hoping at least Monday jumps on board
quote:
Hoover star receiver Shedrick Jackson is now in more of hurry to make his college decision, but there is still plenty of time before his senior season kicks off.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Jackson said after Saturday's spring game at Jacksonville State that a decision could come sooner rather than later.
Jackson, the great-nephew of Auburn Heisman Trophy winner Bo Jackson, holds an Auburn offer.
"Initially, I was saying I wanted to do it after the season, but now I've been changing my mind," said Jackson, a three-star recruit. "Now, I want to go mid-summer or anytime before the season."
Jackson caught a 44-yard touchdown pass in Hoover's spring game win over Park Crossing (see film below).
He recently visited Auburn and plans to be back on June 3 for Big Cat Weekend.
"I just went down there and got to hang out with (offensive coordinator) Coach (Chip) Lindsey and hang out with (receivers) Coach (Kodi) Burns," Jackson said. "I got to talk with them and talk football and everything."
Jackson said on Saturday that he didn't have any other visits planned, but that may have changed with spring football in the past. Georgia Tech and Mississippi State are among schools recruiting Jackson hard. Auburn assistant Herb Hand was in Jacksonville watching Jackson and Mississippi State had two coaches present.
"Right now, I'm taking it slow, trying to go day-by-day, trying to be here with my football team and get everybody right and get better myself," Jackson said. "I don't have any leaders or anything. I love every school I go to. They have great coaches, great atmospheres everywhere and great campuses."
Jackson caught 43 passes for 661 yards and three touchdowns last season and had four receptions for the Bucs in the AHSAA Class 7A state championship win over McGill-Toolen in December.
I think Jackson and Monday commit at Big Cat Weekend. Hoping at least Monday jumps on board

Montgomery QB James Foster invited to Elite 11 finals (AL.com)
For some reason AU has not really been after this kid. I wouldn't mind pushing for him if the Fields flip doesn't happen. You had Toney and Cunningham last year go out of state and Foster possibly this year. It's interesting that there's been quite a few talented dual threat guys being passed on by AU. Not that I complain too much because I like what we got in Malik Willis just interesting to see all these guys go out of state
quote:
Sidney Lanier quarterback James Foster, a Missouri commit, was invited to the Elite 11 finals on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Foster was invited based on his performance at the Atlanta Opening Regional and his junior film. Foster committed to Missouri last month.
Foster joins Jack West of Saraland as quarterbacks from Alabama who will compete in the Elite 11 finals. The Elite 11 finals will be held June 2-4 in Los Angeles and of 24 finalists, 12 will head to Beaverton, Ore., for The Opening Finals with around 140 of the country's top prospects in late June.
Check out the Elite 11 finalists. Many have Alabama or Auburn offers.
Central-Phenix city receiver Justyn Ross is the only in-state prospect who has earned an Opening finals invite so far. More will be added.

Why Alabama and Auburn will be in massive OL Jerome Carvin's top group (AL.com)
quote:
Cordova (Tenn.) struggled defending Hewitt-Trussville in a 45-26 spring game loss on Saturday at Jacksonville State, but there were plenty of eyes on the Wolves' left tackle.
Alabama offensive line coach Brent Key, Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand plus two coaches each from Tennessee and Mississippi State were getting another good look at Jerome Carvin, a 6-foot-4, 325-pound three-star recruit.
Carvin has 16 offers per his 247Sports page and many schools see him as a big piece of their 2018 offensive line class.
"The player part comes second to who he is as a person," Cordova coach Anthony Jones said. "He is an unbelievable person. That is the best characteristic about Jerome is that he is an unbelievable berson. Because he is that, he is a great football player.
He led his team in and out of the short halftime break on Saturday. That's just a small portion of how Carvin has impacted the football team.
"He does all the small things," Jones said. "He's the first in the classroom and last to leave the classroom. He sits in the first two rows of class. He's always in the weight room."
Carvin said he's close to putting out a top 10. Alabama and Auburn will each be on it. He has visited those schools this spring, and saw Auburn for the first time on April 8 for the spring game.
He plans to be back on June 3 for Big Cat Weekend.
"I love Coach Hand," Carvin said. "I love Auburn. I love the offense, I love everything about it."
Carvin talks to Key and tight ends coach Joe Pannunzio on a regular basis.
"It's Alabama," Carvin said. "I feel like it's the best team in the nation. They're going to be in it for sure. They say I'm athletic and a road grader (an OL who is highly effective in driving a defender off the ball on a running play).
"They say they like me as a guard, particularly right guard. Whatever Coach Saban says, it doesn't matter, wherever they want me."
Carvin said there is some pressure to stay in state and play for the Vols. He also said his recent Michigan offer "shakes it up a little bit."
Carvin said he could announce a top five for official visits later this summer, or even commit before his senior season. He plans to enroll early.
Alabama, which has signed big offensive classes over the past few years, will likely sign three in a class of 22. Auburn should sign more and has a commitment from Brooks standout Kameron Stutts, who will likely play guard at the next level.

AL.com All-Access: Alabama and Auburn should add commitments soon (AL.com)
I think AU lands Shedrick Jackson, Quindarious Monday, Matthew Hill and maybe Jalyn Armour-Davis in June
quote:
It's mid-May, and Alabama has just three commitments and Auburn has six.
It's a far cry from 2014, when Alabama had around 15 at this time and was ranked No. 1 in the recruiting rankings from nearly start to finish.
In the 2018 team rankings, Alabama is 48th, just ahead of Northern Illinois and behind the likes of Colorado, Wake Forest, Syracuse and Cincinnati.
Auburn is 26th, behind Kansas, Kentucky, Northwestern and Minnesota.
That will change soon.
It's almost camp season, where many prospects who report offers from power 5 programs may not have the actual go-ahead to commit until they put on a good showing at camp.
Alabama's first high school camp is June 4-6. Expect plenty of in-state standouts like Park Crossing OL Tank Jenkins, Pleasant Grove DB Myles Mason and Austin ATH Asa Martin to be on hand, along with many national recruits.
Expect commitments to come at camp or not long after.
Auburn's first camp is June 8, and its second one is June 15. A player like Muscle Shoals DB Jordyn Peters impressed at one of these last year and earned his scholarship.
Expect commitments to come at a camp or not long after.
Of course, plenty of prospects can go ahead and commit right now, but are waiting to take summer visits.
Who are the next to commit? I'm looking at St. Clair County DL Jalen Cunningham for Alabama and Auburn's squarely in the mix for Murfreesboro, Tenn., running back Master Teague III.
When school starts in August, Alabama and Auburn will be closer to the top of the recruiting rankings where they belong.
I think AU lands Shedrick Jackson, Quindarious Monday, Matthew Hill and maybe Jalyn Armour-Davis in June

Auburn RB target Master Teague has all-SEC top 3 (AL.com)
quote:
Master Teague III, one of Auburn's running back targets, tweeted out a top three of Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee on Wednesday.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Teague is a three-star recruit in the 247Sports composite, but a four-star and top 200 recruit in 247Sports' individual rankings.
Teague, who preps at Blackman in Murfreesboro, Tenn., has made multiple trips to his top schools, including Auburn, this spring.
"They like the way I run, of course," Teague told AL.com earlier this spring. "A lot of teams like to get you on the campus and talk to you. They thought I had my head on right and I was a good fit because their offense was similar to what I run in high school. I feel like they have good coaches where I can be developed to a better back and person."
Other top running back targets for Auburn include a pair of in-state recruits in Austin's Asa Martin and Mountain Brook's Harold Joiner.
A decision is coming soon for Teague.
Teague ran for 2,031 yards and 24 touchdowns for Blackman last year.

Park Crossing's Cam Taylor is an SEC 'all-conference safety,' coach says (AL.com)
If Auburn wants em, they will get him. Might be someone who earns an offer at a camp this summer
quote:
Just six months after his second knee surgery, Park Crossing quarterback Cam Taylor was back going full contact in the Thunderbirds' 34-23 spring game loss to Hoover.
The 6-foot, 205-pound Taylor exited after three quarters, throwing two touchdowns with no turnovers and the varsity side trailing just 28-23.
He tore his right anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus on a late hit out of bounds last year while playing for Prattville. As a sophomore, Taylor tore the same meniscus.
His highlights below didn't show a person coming off a serious injury six months ago.
"Just working hard and therapy, really. I'd say God, honestly," Taylor said of the quick recovery. "My therapist helped me out a lot.
"I can say it was just a little preview (of what's to come) because I'm still working. It doesn't give me any pain. I'm always working, and believe I can get better as time goes by."
Taylor is a three-star recruit in the 247Sports composite and is ranked as high as No. 9 in the state by 247Sports. He has offers from the likes of Michigan, Mississippi State and Missouri.
"He doesn't seem to have any ill effects," Park Crossing coach Smitty Grider said. "He's not 100 percent yet, but whatever percent he is, he's pretty good. I think he's going to be fully recovered by the time we get to August.
"A lot of the schools were waiting to see how he responded from the knee surgery. If (Saturday is) any indication, I expect him to pick up an offer from those schools here soon."
Taylor has excelled as a quarterback, but feels like he'll be a receiver or safety at the next level. He said some schools are mentioning running back. Missouri has offered him as a safety, and Mississippi State as an athlete.
Taylor said he'll play anywhere just to get on the field.
"He's either a safety or a receiver," Grider said. "I think he has quarterback skills. He's 6-foot, so would be a drawback for schools looking for a taller quarterback.
"I think he's an all-conference safety in the SEC. That's what he is."
Alabama and Auburn are looking at Taylor as a defensive back, but have not offered yet. Both schools had assistant coaches at his spring game.
"They're both saying the same things," Taylor said. "They want to see me at camp this summer and want to look into it.
"(Those) would be a big offers. It's in-state. We grew up in Montgomery, Alabama watching Alabama-Auburn football. It would be a big thing because it is an in-state offer and we've been watching it so long. I'd really say the same thing for them. They're the same, honestly."
Taylor said he and his mother are in the process of planning out summer trips. One could be to Missouri, as Sidney Lanier quarterback James Foster has committed there and is trying to recruit several Montgomery standouts, including Taylor, to join him.
Taylor said he wants to see how his senior season goes and if more schools offer before he makes a decision.
"I am getting a lot of love from Missouri and Mississippi State," Taylor said. "Michigan, too. They're all leveled out right now and I don't have a top school."
If Auburn wants em, they will get him. Might be someone who earns an offer at a camp this summer

4-star Asa Martin marks return by running wild in spring game (AL.com)
quote:
Austin fans will enjoy having No. 20 again this fall.
He's running back Asa Martin, who returns to the Black Bears after one year at IMG Academy in Florida. The four-star recruit, ranked as the No. 9 ball carrier in the nation by the 247Sports Composite, has offers from Alabama, Auburn and Florida.
Thursday night marked the first time that Martin donned an Austin jersey since the 2015 Class 6A semifinals. He played in the Black Bears' spring game at Sparkman alongside other starters for the first three quarters.
Martin looked right at home with his old teammates, carrying eight times for 99 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown, and scoring on catch-and-run that covered 67 yards. The Black Bears led 27-7 at halftime. Martin saw limited action, with no carries, in the third quarter.
"It's good to be back here with my guys," Martin said. "The whole offensive line did exceptionally well blocking. Our receivers played well. (Senior running back) Antonio Robinson played well, too."
The 6-foot, 195-pound Martin played solely on offense, but he will also see action at defensive back during the regular season.
He remains undecided on a college choice. Among his 24 offers are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Baylor, Texas, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, Utah and South Carolina.
"It's a bunch of them," he said.
"I'm going to take a couple of visits this summer, weigh my options out. I'll probably make a decision the day before the first game."
Martin described what will determine his decision. "It's the school that fits me, a school I'm comfortable with, a school my mom's comfortable with. Basically the school that fits me."
"I'll visit Alabama, Auburn and Florida. Those are for sure. I'm going to try to get to Texas and maybe a couple of other schools, too."
Martin was a key member of the Austin backfield as a sophomore. He ran for 1,374 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also started at safety and was a special teams ace with five blocked kicks.
"He's a really good player," said Austin coach Jeremy Perkins, who is entering his eighth season."We're happy to have him back at Austin. We're looking for him to do great things and be a leader for our team."
Martin also has a connection to the opposing coach in the spring game, new Sparkman head man Laron White.
"We're both from Courtland, so I watched him play little league," said White, who spent the previous 14 years at Tanner. "I know his family. I knew he was special back when I watched him play little league."

Recruiting notes from the trail: Pinson Valley, Park Crossing, Paul Bryant, McGill-Toolen (AL.com)

PINSON VALLEY (May 11)
Pinson Valley is looking like a region championship contender after the Nixes - coach Patrick and son Bo - have moved into down.
Florida State was there on this day watching the star quarterback Nix, who has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia and many more. He's just going to be a junior.
Receivers like Dylan Henderson and LiAllen Dailey will see their stock rise even more. Henderson recently earned an offer from Jacksonville State offer. Dailey has Louisville and Arkansas State. He's a 6-foot-2 physical receiver who will be a matchup problem.
Patrick Nix feels big offers will come in for defensive lineman Desmond Scott. Jackie Matthews was last year's quarterback. He's mostly playing cornerback and receiver and is the backup quarterback.
"Jackie's got a ton of talent," Patrick Nix said. "There's a little bit of unknown. A lot of people are very intrigued."
Defensive back Rhasaan Christian is getting looks in the 2019 class. Pinson Valley also has an incoming freshman athlete that power 5 college coaches know about.
His nickname is "Kool-Aid." That's all I've got.

PARK CROSSING (May 13)
Saw Park Crossing play in a spring game loss to Hoover. The starters were down 28-23 after three quarters to the defending 7A champs.
Quarterback Cam Taylor and offensive lineman Tank Jenkins have power 5 offers and they will go to bigger schools. Taylor is likely a safety at the next level. He moved around pretty well for a guy coming off major knee surgery. He reminded me of Auburn signee Malcolm Askew playing quarterback at McAdory, but Taylor is a little bigger than Askew.
Running back Uziah McDaniels is an FCS or Division II talent, coach Smitty Grider said. Receiver Doron Mitchell had a nice game, catching two touchdown passes and should get some opportunities.
In the junior class, Tacorey Turner has in his first year playing football and already has an offer form Bowling Green. He's a basketball player and a tall corner, so coaches love that. Darius Hodges, at 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, is also one to watch as a defensive end.

PAUL BRYANT (May 15, May 19 in spring game)
Seth Williams is the big recruit here, as the four-star recruit will be much better in college with better quarterback play. Would love to see him at The Opening because I think the 6-foot-2, 202-pound physical Williams would really stand out under the radar.
Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Ole Miss are the top power 5 schools after Williams right now.
Cornerback Jamarcus Burrell, at 6-foot-2, has offers from the likes of Marshall and Arkansas State. Ole Miss is interested, coach Eldrick Hill, but has not yet offered.
Defensive end Landon Perry has Samford and some other FCS offers.
Watch out for these rising sophomores - defensive end Javaris Hoskins, safety Jy'Derius Gray and Xavier Morrow. Hill feels like they can be power 5 recruits. Morrow received an offer from Arkansas State this week.
Coaches from Alabama (Karl Dunbar), Memphis, Samford and UAB were at the spring game Friday at Huffman. Bryant won 27-3 in the half with the starters. Seth Williams had two catches, one long one down the right sideline and this 20-yard touchdown.

KN has update on 4* CB Jalyn Armour-Davis. He is hoping to commit this summer. Armour-Davis says it's a tossup between AU, BAMA & FSU. Travis Williams has taken the lead on his recruitment and chats with Armour-Davis at least every other day. Says a lot of the time they talk about stuff that isn't related to football. T-WILL and Greg Brown both visited his school this spring. Malzahn talked to him before his track state finals as well. We wanted him to visit for BCW but doesn't sound like he will. He has an interesting plan for visits. Doesn't like to come to camps or junior day but instead pop in during the week so he can see what it's like to be a student athlete at the school. He committed to play in the Army All-American game yesterday
Seems like Bama has fought their way back into this one. I am still hopeful we pull this out in part because of Travis Williams and fact we were his first offer. But sounds like this is a real battle. Need him to visit again before committing. Personally I think Armour-Davis is a more important target than Justyn Ross. AU doesn't get many chances to sign elite instate CBs and so they need to capitalize on this opportunity especially if Carlton Davis has a good year and leaves early. We will see what happens
