My body is ready for the melt.

Saw that coming. That had to be trending that way.

What a fricking failure this finish is gonna be. 1 d lineman. 1. Rodney garner needs to run stadiums for his lousy performance.

I don't usually agree...but I agree.
I was holding out for Johnson and Bryant to turn my view around. But this DL class is beyond weak

That's what I get for falling asleep
So no sugar coating this one, it sucks. Don't blame Johnson for his decision, pretty sure in his shoes I would have done the same thing. But it's a big blow to AU. Of our top remaining targets he was who I wanted the most because he provides depth at both DT & DE
KN says from here AU might offer 3* DT Tyrone Truesdell but not set in stone. Personally I don't know how you don't at this point. I get being picky but we got 5 spots left and chances are high back counting goes away. Take Truesdell who obviously wants to be here and keep some bodies on the DL
We are still in play for Bryant but obviously it's hard to feel confident with the way things are going here at the end. I expected a much stronger finish than this but we seem to be failing to close late. Bottom line is we have start putting a more consistent product on the field if we want to get back to landing consistent top 10 classes

Also so much for that big OV weekend, apparently beating Bama's arse in bball does not translate to commitments

Four-star St. Paul's DL Ryan Johnson commits to Stanford over Auburn (AL.com)
Solid pitch Stanford

Four-star defensive lineman Ryan Johnson committed to Stanford over Auburn on Monday night, ending one of the more high-profile in-state recruiting decisions remaining.
The 6-foot-4, 255-pound St. Paul's senior, rated as the No. 8 strong-side defensive end in the nation according to the 247 composite rankings, started his senior season with more than 60 college offers.
"It was just really the opportunity on and off the field that Stanford presented," Johnson told AL.com. "Like they say, I feel like this is a 40-year decision and not a four-year decision. I feel like I can contribute early on the field, help the program win and set myself up for life."
Johnson visited Auburn two weeks ago and Texas this past weekend but in the end it came down to the Tigers and the Cardinal. Johnson, who has visited Stanford twice, wants to major in engineering.
"I'm not going to lie," he said. "This was a tough decision. It's been really grueling the past few days. I don't have anything bad to say about any school that has recruited me. They've all been great. But when it came down to it, I just felt the most comfortable at Stanford."
Solid pitch Stanford

No idea. I am no insider. Just here for the melt
Will offer clean up after

Honestly I don't think melt will be that bad because no one has super high expectations tomorrow. We seem resigned to fact Taylor is going elsewhere and don't have a ton of confidence for Bryant and Johnson has already committed. If someone we don't expect flipped on signing day might trigger it but tomorrow will probably just be people fighting over whether or not we should consider this class solid or horrible
Then it all starts over again

I think you are under estimating this group. Give it time. Once the rainbow people here finally realize that we missed on so many and finally come to terms with it, there will be melt my man. There always is. Even when we do well. We got destroyed this year by most of our rivals with this class. It has some much needed parts though. OLine and QB were Yuge.... Happy about that.
But make no mistake, there will be melts.
But thank you so much for all your hard work on this. Especially for those of us who really do not have the time, or desire, to follow things as closely as you have. Some of us read this thread daily and rarely reply..... Great work and thanks again

You're probably right I am just a hopeful fella. Above is reasoning why I won't melt tomorrow but if all this had gone down on NSD I probably would have

Preciate it man. I am one of those weirdos who loves this stuff so don't mind sharing what I read. Hopefully next season there's more "4/5* commits to AU" and less of "AU is now looking at 3* after missing on 4/5*"

I'm genuinely interested in who fills these remaining spots, especially since we're turning down the names out there. Different kind of signing day intrigue.
We can melt our programs reputation isn't what we want it to be but it's hardly surprising. It would be easy as shite to get in a kids head and negative recruit us right now:
-record last 3 years
-offense is Gus specialty but offense numbers at bad, do you trust him to win and get you to the pros? This is his last year
-their OC left for same position at UCONN
-they can't develop a qb, what else can't they develop
-look at their Oklahoma bowl game, they're not that level of a program. Stidham will only do so much himself.
-if you play defense do you want to be out there 40 min a game and besides DL who's made it to the pros?
-look at their athletic complex, let's walk around our new one
-do you want to have to beat Bama to have a shot at the playoffs every year? They only beat them with miracles, hell they never even beat Georgia.
new UGA, FSU, Richt at Miami, LSU, Clemson, Muschamp at USCe, Ohio State and Michigan poaching and Bama skims the top players. Tough competition everywhere we normally recruit.
It's not surprising. We got some key positions filled with high level players and we took some 3* depth bodies the coaches will need to develop hard to contribute. They may never, but there's a few in there that could end up starting and have big potential that didn't attend the camps/had shite coaching/develop late.
2018 recruiting and winning on the field. 9 or 10 wins and beat 2 of 3 LSU/Bama/UGA. Make or break year. We'll see what Lindsay's got with Stidham. Even then, if Gus sucks this year, what Auburn man would we get to come in and compete with Saban? PTB/JJ would never go and get a Meyer, Harbaugh caliber guy. Need to wait until Gus finds another magician QB to take us to the natty like he has before. It's where we are right now.

KN says AU did talk to Truesdell last night but was before Johnson committed elsewhere. Did not get offer then but doesn't sound like he got for sure no. He's hopeful AU gives him green light this morning. We will see...

The writing has been on the wall for a while now that our finish would be unspectacular. If anybody melts it's because they were either foolishly clinging to false hopes or they were not paying attention and picked a bad time to start.

It is solid. Don't think Ryan would've had to sacrifice an academic career( and his subsequent professional career in whatever field he chooses) to play here but whatever
