Maybe they are hoping to be early enough kids can come that wouldn't have because they are going to other games??
Having it at 6pm gives kids that were going to travel time to do so, and maybe squeeze in their game??
That's all I got.

-Troxell lists Auburn and Alabama as his co-leaders. This will be his third visit to Auburn this year.
-Gonzalez is the least heralded of Auburn’s three commitments, but has had a strong spring and potentially could see a ratings bump in his future.
-Benton already has visited Auburn multiple times this year and is believed to be a Tigers lean.
-Wooten calls Tennessee his new leader, with Auburn a close second.
-This will be Terrell’s third known visit to Auburn since Wesley McGriff became secondary coach in January.
-Tavyn Jackson has the ACT on Saturday morning but will try to make it to the game.

-Patterson named top group this week. 1. Vols; 2. Louisville; 3. Auburn.
-At last check, Askew called Auburn his leader.
-Smith is unrated but has offers from Auburn and Georgia. He’s a possible 4-star down the road.
-Ross is the No. 1 recruit in Alabama for 2018.

Some general notes from weekend, pretty much all of this is from KN on 247
- Calvin Ashley appears to still be 100% committed to AU, still gonna take visits
- 4* DE Ryan Johnson made surprise visit and has us in top group with Bama
- 4* OT Austin Troxell showed up late because of SAT but did make the trip
- 4* ATH Malcolm Askew has AU far and away #1, might commit soon
- 4* LB Breon Dixon (UGA Commit) could be wavering, raved about AU & MICH also spent a lot of time with Markail Benton
- Speaking of Benton, he still says he will announce at Under Armor All American Game but KN thinks it will be sooner
- 4* OG CJ Thorpe made trip down from Pittsburgh and plans on making return trip, has connection with Hand from when he coached at Penn State
- The top player in state for 2018 WR Justyn Ross from Phenix City was on campus
- 3* LB Chandler Wooten says AU & TEN tied at top
- All of AU's 2017 commits were there along with quite a few 2016 signees
- Apparently South Carolina our top contender with 3* DL Alec Jackson. Sounds like they pushing hard for him than we are currently
- We have made 4* CB AJ Terrell a priority and he has visited 3 times in past few months. Battling UGA & UF for him, KN says he thinks AU might have edge right now

Derrick Brown looking like a boss
Ryan Johnson styling, grew up an AU fan but Bama pushing hard along with LSU (Dameyune Craig is his main recruiter)
AU's possible next commit 4* ATH Malcolm Askew & his dad

AU's top CB target 4* AJ Terrell

What an odd time
Perfect time IMO. The sun was brutal yesterday. It was not even hot out, just relentless sunshine.

Be glad you were in the sun. It was pretty cold in the shade.

I know how you despise sunshine. Do you get scaly, and begin to melt?
Or is that just a myth?

AUBURN, Ala. — Tennessee was the clear-cut leader for Chandler Wooten just a few days ago.
But following his visit to Auburn on Saturday — in what proved to be his final visit for the next few months — the three-star outside linebacker said he no longer has a front-runner.
Wooten unofficially visited Knoxville twice in March.
“It’s very close at the top right now,” Wooten said following Saturday’s game. “I still love Auburn and (linebackers) Coach (Travis) Williams and (defensive coordinator) Kevin Steele and the whole defensive staff. I can definitely see myself playing here. Auburn is still at the top, most definitely.”
Asked if Tennessee still leads, Wooten replied, “They’re both neck-and-neck right now. They’re both 1A and 1B.”
Wooten is still considering several other schools, most notably South Carolina and Florida. He plans to unveil a list of top schools in the coming weeks.
One thing is for certain: the Tigers are in good shape.
Led by Williams, Auburn continues to impress the Kennesaw, Ga., prospect. Saturday’s showing was yet another reason why Wooten has held the Tigers in high regard.
“(Williams) is somebody I definitely I want to play for,” Wooten said. “He’s in command of his linebackers. He’s very energetic, and that’s definitely somebody I want to play for. I like his coaching style.”
Williams and assistant coach and special teams coordinator Tim Horton will visit Wooten in May, he says.

Sad news about former QB commit
SECCountry
quote:
NEW ORLEANS — Lowell Narcisse’s life was put in a tailspin six short weeks ago.
The nation’s No. 6 dual-threat quarterback lost his father, forcing everything else in his life to the backburner. That includes his recruitment.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound four-star prospect out of St. James High School (La.) denied any schools had peaked his interest of late, despite several visits to LSU in the last few weeks.
Any progress the in-state Tigers made was not a priority because of Narcisse’s personal tragedy.
“LSU has been trying to get me on campus, but I’m busy with family and with a lot of other things,” Narcisse told SEC Country Sunday at Nike’s “The Opening” regional camp in New Orleans.
“I just haven’t had a chance to focus on recruitment. (I will) towards the end of the season.”
The death of Narcisse’s father has left the quarterback with much to think about other than football.
The personal adversity has weighed heavily on the nationally sought-after prospect, but family remains first for Narcisse.
That’s been clear over the past couple of his weeks, his high school coach told SEC Country.
“He’s doing well,” St. James High School coach Robert Valdez said. “He has a great family and a great support system. I haven’t gotten to talk to him much, but he will bounce back. The kid has a lot going on.”
The loss of Narcisse’s father has re-shaped the quarterback’s timeline, possibly leaving part of December and January as the most important time to consider all of his options.
Narcisse believes that will be an adequate amount of time for him to make an informed decision, which means the No. 6 dual-threat QB in the Class of 2017 may have already figured some things out since re-opening his recruitment in mid-January.
Since then, Narcisse has made three separate visits to LSU’s campus, and the Tigers have established themselves in a strong position as a likely finalist along with Auburn and Alabama.
Narcisse pointed out two important factors that bode well for LSU, including proximity to home during this adverse period and an always-steady relationship with offensive coordinator Cam Cameron.
“I’m from Louisiana. It’s my home state,” said Narcisse when asked about LSU. “Me and Cam always had a good relationship. He’s really stuck with me and even after I committed (to Auburn). Still wanted me to be a part of the family. It showed me that he still really wanted me.”

Herb Hand doing work
SECCountry
quote:
AUBURN, Ala. — Not long after Herb Hand was situated in Auburn, the first-year offensive line coach began to tap into the state of Pennsylvania.
Hand, who previously coached at Penn State, immediately reached out to C.J. Thorpe, a four-star offensive guard from Pittsburgh.
A few months later, Thorpe, the No. 8 offensive guard in the country, made the trek down to Auburn to attend the program’s A-Day spring game.
“You know, Herb Hand, he came from Penn State. He’s been recruiting me pretty heavily down here,” said Thorpe, who arrived to The Plains Saturday afternoon. “I got the offer before he even came down, but him being down here is huge for me. To already have a nice little relationship with a (guy) down here that I already know is real nice.”
Thorpe’s visit to Auburn was his first-ever. He and his family arrived to the campus on Saturday after spending the previous few days visiting both Alabama and Georgia. Thorpe raved about the atmosphere at Auburn and came away impressed by the program’s facilities.
Thorpe said the Tigers can be “a huge factor” in his recruitment.
The 6-foot-3, 318-pound prospect said he’ll begin to narrow down his top schools in the coming months. Thorpe conceded that Penn State, Georgia and Auburn will be among his favorites when that time comes, and he plans to use one of his five allotted official visits to return to The Plains this fall.

Dude is a stud. I've seen him at a couple camps including the one when T-Rob offered him and he is going to be great for someone.

Auburn is turning up the heat on 3* QB Kadarius Toney from Mobile. LSU has been talking to him a lot lately. He is about to make his second visit. Craig is his lead recruiter there

Plays at Craig's alma mater too (Blount) so will be tough battle. Maybe it's a good sign though if they push hard for him. Maybe means good things for Narcisse with us?

I used to categorically dismiss any player that decomitted but then NCM happened.
Still seems like he is LSU bound. Had Cameron left I think we would have been back in the driver's seat.

Plays with a chip on his shoulder. Seen him play twice, and he stood out both times. Should have a monster year coming up.

Kadarius has a nice deep ball. I don't think he ever tried to find the second receiver in his whole highlight clip though.
