What RB's are we recruiting other than Chubb,
Thomas, & Choice?
Hoke says he would not be surprised if Watson visits again later this summer FWIW.

quote:I thought I may as well pass this along. From a poster on the Auburn Rivals board.
Father is not in his life. He has been in and out of jail his whole life. His mother had throat cancer his sophomore year, lost her tongue and lost over 100 pounds due to the illness. He actually is a bright kid. From what I'm told he has a 4.0 and is working full time at a law firm this summer. Another nice tidbit, apparently his girlfriend wants to go to Auburn. His is very humble as well.
Considering how intelligent he may be, I'm curious as to how he thinks his coach is handling this whole thing.
In case anyone is wondering where I get my info, my wife works for Gainesville City Schools.

Shades Valley sophomore defensive tackle Daron Payne lands Auburn and Ole Miss offers (video)
He's 6-foot-3 and 315 pounds, but was light enough on his feet to dunk a basketball as a 300-pound freshman. The rising junior learned how to throw the shot put seven weeks ago. He's at the state track meet this weekend because he can already heave one 50 feet.
His bench press shot up like a 2001 tech stock this spring. He's adding five pounds every two days to his max. That's currently at 395 pounds.
"I can power clean 305 (pounds) and can squat 435," Payne said.
Smith is confident he'll hoist 450 pounds by October.
From al.com. Does anyone have any thoughts on this guy? His dad's an Auburn fan and he seems like he could be a pretty big deal his senior year. Also has a twin that's an artist who doesnt play sports.quote:

Two other tidbits about Daron: 1) He carries a 2.8 grade point average at Shades Valley and that high school has a very good academic reputation. 2) He's a down-to-earth and level-headed kid. His coaches said if he's on an unofficial visit that a smart SEC staff would be wise to keep him away from the party boys. That's not what he's looking for in a school.
I posted about this kid a few weeks back when he first started blowing up. I'm hoping a decent showing by us this year will inspire him to jumpstart our 2015 class

I started thinking today about how the Leonard Fournette recruitment will affect us. All I know currently is that it appears to be a fight til the death between Bama and LSU which is going to cause them to slow play some other guys (i.e Roc Thomas) with the losing school swopping in late on whoever their back up plan is. I'm assuming his recruitment will go until NSD so will it cost a recruit at the last minuet?
For selfish purposes I want him to end up at LSU (although the LSUr melt will be pretty sweet) but is that going to be like cutting off your nose to spite your face?

I don't expect LSU to serious enter the Roc picture. You also forgot about 5* RB committed to Florida, Dalvin Cook. Bama is all over him like white on rice right now. He is ahead of Roc on their board too.

LSU isnt looking at any of the our other RB prospects either? Doesnt seem like we've had many recruiting battles with them as of late
Hadnt heard of this guy. So why dont we just strong arm Thomas and say not only are you 3rd on Bama's board but you could lose your Auburn spot if [insert random RB] committs before you. Not really putting pressure on him but just hitting him with cold hard facts?

I've probably already said it five times in this thread, but I'll be surprised if Alabama doesn't end up taking Roc just to keep him away from Auburn. Not to mention with his kind of talent there is a very high possibility of him making an impact even with bama's depth situation.

At this point, we need to continue to recruit Roc hard, but we definitely need to look for another top HS RB. I don't like taking Judd because that would give us 3 SRs and 1 JR in 2014. We need some younger backs, and I don't want to be burned by Roc and our RB situation get screwed up because we don't have other quality HS options

Well looks like BCW did not have the affect we hoped or thought on Cortez McDowell. Free Excerpt
quote:
TWO STAND OUT FOR 4-STAR SAFETY: 4-star safety Cortez McDowell from Locust Grove (Ga.) High attended Big Cat Weekend last Saturday but Auburn still has ground to make up. McDowell said Tennessee and Florida State are standing out to him the most right now and he plans to visit both in June.
“This past year, when (Florida State) had all 11 guys drafted, they had seven of them already with degrees,” McDowell told 247Sports. “And the other four are about to finish up degrees this summer, so that’s a big thing, talking about student-athletes, and that’s graduating. And that’s big. For myself, that’s real big.
“Tennessee, they’re a new program right now, but I feel like, if they keep getting the guys that they keep needing filling those spots, Tennessee will be a dangerous team to watch this upcoming year.”

I'm guessing Craig isn't the lead recruiter for him. We need to just make Craig the recruiter for everyone.

craig is awesome and all, but people need to remember... dude's a hired gun, just like the other hotshot recruiters out there. Putting too much on him could come back to bite us in the future.

Yeah, I was joking. Some of the others guys on the staff need to step up and do work.
