Are we really about to miss out on signing Carter Stewart?

Doesn't look good. From my understanding we will still get 2 first round picks next year, including the #9.

Some of this from the Braves isn't making sense. If they don't sign Stewart then they have no chance at Hess, so they'll lose both. But if they sign Stewart they get their first round pick and a possible shot at Hess if there's some cash left over.

The Braves put Fried on DL and called up Phillips... again. The first time he didn't play, the 2nd time he got left in a little past what he's used to as a former closer. So here's hoping it works out?

Would be nice if they would just frickin leave Phillips up and let him get established into a rhythm of a 6th inning role to start.

Exactly. How are they suppose to know if they need to go get another reliever before the trade deadline if they're not giving our young guys some reps.

Yep, they aren't all like Biddle and Jackson. Relief pitching is the only thing they need to fix, but they should also (imo) stop playing Flowers too much/Kurt not enough.

A little over an hour before time expires for Stewart. Unreal.

Really weird situation. Makes zero sense for a high school pitcher to turn down ~$4 million, way too much health/performance issues can pop up over the next 3 years to take that risk. Also doesn't make much sense for the Braves to lose out on a first round pick with this much upside unless there are some really serious health concerns that they aren't comfortable with. Everybody was sure the Reds #1 pick last year wouldn't sign and he did, at the end of the day both sides usually come to their senses.

Jesus did they find out he's missing an entire finger or something?
quote:
Mark Bowman @mlbbowman Stewart's wrist injury created a definite concern for the Braves. The two parties have not yet been close. But if the Braves have offered at least $1.992 M (40% of the $4.98 M slot value) and Stewart doesn't sign, the team will get another first round pick next year.
quote:
Jim Callis @jimcallisMLB · 1h Sources indicate @Braves are offering a lot closer to the 40% threshold than to pick value. Carter Stewart indeed could wind up at @HailStateBB, where he would join @Dodgers 1st-rder J.T. Ginn in an outstanding recruiting class. @MLBDraft

Anyone on here watch Chad Ocho-Cincos Snapchat today?
I’m not a Braves fan but the stadium looks dope. Pretty cool you can rent a hotel room with a balcony that overlooks the park. Ochocinco shows off the view in his Snapchat.

Perhaps they need to alter the vetting process some more. The guy went from 8th overall with nearly $5MM, to not signing and having to go to JUCO or D1. Something got lost here.

Yeah, that was my thought. How are there no physicals on the front end to find this sort of stuff before you commit to the kid?

Braves took a lead in the top of the 1st, walk by Ender followed by an Ozzie double (he tried to make it to third when a bad throw helped Ender score but got thrown out)
Folty shut them down in the bottom of the first hope he's complete game Folty today and they can save the bad bullpen drama for tomorrow.

They have one of the nat'l broadcast guys in the booth again cause we need reminding I guess about watching the Braves on a different station tomorrow. At least it won't be a regional broadcast where the Braves get overshadowed by an overblown rivalry somewhere. Too bad chip told everybody the wrong station at the end though, he said 'We'll be watching tomorrow on big Fox' when it's really Fs1.

Brewers took the lead in the 3rd in a big way, Folty gave up a 2 run homer and a 3 run homer. Ok maybe this isn't full game Folty, we have to hope for the best with the bullpen and with our bats.

Braves striking back in the 7th (seen that before?) Acuna drove in a run with the bases loaded on an infield hit with no outs. and on the way to first he ran too hard and had to come out of the game (better than before but still familiar)
