Hope the rain delay doesn't last as long as they prognosticated.. 3 hours? wtf? We need Newk to keep going. Our bullpen can't handle a one run lead, not in their programming.

Game is back on. the delay killed Newk's day and brought about the coming of the ... gasp, ... bullpen:

The Braves put in their best 3 relievers (relative to them) for the last 3 innings. Winkler and Minter killed it in the 7th and 8th. Then Viz in the 9th... had his usual drama and saved it! Braves win 1 zip! Too bad those guys can't go everynight, things would have gone better than last night with the Freeman/Moylan/Gohara combo.... but I guess they had to rest.

I don’t think the Mets will be willing to deal him at a good price to us

Maybe not but we certainly have more top 100 prospects
to make a deal than the other teams rumored to be interested (Dodgers,Yankees and Brewers)

Here is the lineup today with Ozzie's day off and Julio's first game back, hope he isn't rusty. I also saw on twitter that the Braves sent Gohara down to AAA and replaced him with Jackson.

Julio looks a little rusty in the 1st hope it doesn't stick around. He's walking and hitting padre people in the 1st. He got a strike three on a ball four it looked like, but like Chip said "he'll take it!" No runs yet. In the Braves half that Strahm reliever (in the 1st bullpen already) was striking guys out, and even got Freddie to swing at a wild pitch... you don't see that everyday. It was on strike 3 so Freddie took first base while the catcher was running after the pitch.

In the 2nd Julio turned it around and struck out everybody! But unfortunately the 3rd victim, the padre catcher swung way too wide and hit kurt in the side of the head then acted like he didn't even care and Jeff Francouer said he was 'bush league' and Julio should throw the next pitch to that guys ribcage.

Flowers had to come out and catch in the 3rd. After 3 shutout innings Julio has struck out 6.

Chip: Julio hasn't allowed a base runner since the first. (pause for the pitch) And that's outside, Julio walks Jankowski.

Why cant Chip just keep his mouth shut some times?

Through 6 with 11 Ks.

Then Chip mentions the no hitter. But it looks like Julio might not go back out there in the 7th anyway.

Yeah Carle can keep it going but he can't beat a jinx, 'braves no hitter' graphic got the padres a hit again. I hope they leave Carle in though if the only alternatives are Freeman and Moylan. Maybe the 3 guys from last night are available for bullpen work though, that would be great.

After showing Freeman warming up in the bullpen to give the padres a false sense of a chance (imo) the Braves put in Minter in the 8th and he had a sac fly against him to make the score 2 to 1 but got out of the trouble with strikeouts.

Flowers hit a 2 run 8th inning homer off Mr Hand, insurance for the closer.

Vizcaino got the save with his usual baserunner problems but the ... Braves won 4 to 1 and the gnats lost to increase the division lead. Markakis made a great catch at the end !

Minter is going to age me this season. I can feel newly formed wrinkles in my forehead. Imagine we make it to the wild card or playoffs and minter comes in with a one run lead. I may literally shite myself.
