Consider our last three ADs, counting our temporary one.

Long looked like he was a winner, and then we discovered he was putting the department in the hole financially. Firing Petrino? I hate to say it, but that is one of the few Long decisions he didn't screw up. Petrino wiped his butt with a state law by hiring his mistress. I know, other schools don't do that, but it would only take one person who was passed over for that job to speak out and we'd have been in an ocean of crap.

His emergency replacement was JCP who quickly found out, after the first successful booster's revolt in the history of the school, that she wasn't going to be allowed to call the shots on the coaching hire. Otherwise we'd be in season 7 with Lane Kiffin. Her job was to keep things from completely falling apart, which she more of less pulled off. You will note she bolted for Ohio as soon as politely possible.

Then we got Hunter. He is an AD who would do very well at a G5 (G6? G7?) level program where the competition isn't as fierce. He's done very well at the smaller sports but when it comes to the big stuff he's in over his head.

Out of those 3 our best bet would have been JCP, a slightly above average AD.

If we really want to change things the issue isn't in finding a good replacement HC in football, it is finding a good AD. Good ADs will find good coaches and build NIL programs to keep good players. Until we do that we are putting a bandaid on being disemboweled.

Annnnnndddd... he still had to shite can Petrino. Even if he did know.

STATE LAW. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. Go directly to being shite canned if you make it obvious. Petrino made it obvious. He had to go.

We have no one to blame but Petrino for this. If he hadn't done this who knows how things would have played out but he did. You may worship Petrino all you want... but Petrino screwed Petrino here.

What would you think Broyles would have done?

A bit hard to make a ruling on that I'd think.

Technology, media has made a quantum leap, more eyes on what's going on up there.

Not sure Frank could've swept this one under the rug in this media climate

Frank had such control over the Arkansas media that it would make the North Korean government take notes. He had more power than the governor.

That wouldn't be his problem but individuals not affiliated with the Arkansas media from other social media outlets that would try to bring any information to the service.

He would probably weigh his options and think to himself. Fire Petrino and take the risk of tanking the program? How would that make me look? If it does sink into the abyss then the fans would blame me, my legacy ruined. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. If I decide to keep him and endure the storm just a bit longer then that would be better than potentially setting the program back decades. After all Arkansas doesn't have the resources necessary to recover quicker from an event such as that and it could be close to a NCAA sanctioned death penalty.

Brother there is no shame in what you are doing. I wish my son would have went to school here as well but he wanted to go to his mom's school so I let him pass.
