Well it was still on the station when I was listening at lunch. Just caught the tail end of it before they went to commercial break. Even Rick was basically at a loss of words when Randy said it.

Guys its Kiffin. He was just the best coach out there past Norvell. And Norvell was a risk bc its the AAC. I still think his offense is a bit gimmicky and I'm not into that. Not long ago I read something on twitter from an espn writer that it was Kiffin. Then there is this from a few days ago.

Do you really think someone as important and smart enough to be the AD at a P5 school would do something that stupid on a public forum?
My comment right now has nothing to do specifically with HY but it's a reply to the overall concept you espoused. People are fricking idiots, even ones who seem smart and have everything to lose. shite look at Elon Musk and the retarded lawsuit he has to deal with cause he called someone a pedo, or the mayor of fricking Toronto doing crack. People make horrible decesions and where they are in life doesn't stop them sometimes.

Musk also hired a private investigator to try and prove the guy was a pedo, all because he made fun of musk on Twitter...bad example

......you are grossly misinformed. Musk called one of the divers a pedo because he was old and Musk was upset that they didn't let him use his submarine to help the Thai cave kidz. Musk is currently being sued for defamation after he hired the PI to trt and ruin this guy's life all because he was upset he didn't grt to be the hero. It's one of the most childish things I have ever seen and the man is also one of the smartest human beings on the planet.

I thought this was interesting (speaking of Elon Musk). Way back in the day Werner von Braun wrote a science fiction book about colonizing Mars. In the story Mars eventually has its own Government and it's ran by a dude named Elon.

My sources are saying Musk to Arkansas is a done deal.

The AAC is a whole lot tougher football conference than CUSA which makes Norvell look even better. Kiffin has not beat an AAC team (or P5 team) since he's been at FAU, losing by large margins to Navy in 2017, and UCF in 2018 and 2019.
Half of the teams in the AAC are probably as good or better than the best team in CUSA.

Difference is norvell arrived at a good situation already and while he's having a huge year this year, he has benefitted from a lot of luck, by some measures one of the luckiest teams in football.
Still a great coach, but kiffin actually overnight turned around a dumpster fire and turned it into a conference champ 2 of the next 3 years

2017:
Kiffin went 11-3. He lost to No. 88 ranked Buffalo 6-6 (MAC), No. 52 ranked Navy (AAC), and Wisconsin. His highest ranked win was against Marshall, ranked No. 72 in FBS. Wins CUSA title by beating No. 83 North Texas.
2018:
FAU goes 5-7 with their highest ranked win being against No. 77 ranked Florida International.
2019:
FAU is presently ranked at No. 46 in FBS. Their highest ranked win this year was against No. 75 ranked WKU. They could win CUSA title with a win over No. 91 ranked UAB.
And this year, FAU is ranked lower that 5 teams in the AAC. Memphis is ranked No. 16 in FBS and should win the AAC title with a win over No. 29 Cincinnati, the same Cincinnati team they beat last week.
Is Memphis that much better of a location in regards to recruiting decent talent than Boca Raton? I don't think so.
And just to put it into perspective, WSU (Pullman, Washington) is a much harder area for recruiting decent talent than either of these two schools. And even though I think he would be a good hire, I'm not saying we should hire Mike Leach either.
What I am saying is that I think we are aiming much too low.
And judging by SEC standards or even average FBS standards, most of CUSA IS a dumpster fire and that has been FAU's competition.

He was my top choice but I cannot see him leaving Boise State. That is where he is from. He was born in Boise and went to Boise State.
He's a damn solid coach IMO.

You should do like a 3 or 4 year look at each school (Memphis and FAU) before Norvell and Kiffin got to their respective jobs.
No matter what we say about the things Norvell has done at Memphis, he is not proven in terms of building a program. He may eventually prove to the the best coach that has ever lived, but as of this moment, he doesn't appear to be qualified to do the thing we need done here -- rebuild a program that's in the cellar.
Kiffin, on the other hand, has. FAU went 3-9 for 3 years prior to Kiffin's arrival. This Saturday he will play for his second conference title in three years.
If it's me making the call, I'm calling Kiffin before Norvell. That's just me though. Maybe other people would be more willing to gamble.
Maybe Yurachek pulls something unexpected and gets someone better than Kiffin. That would be awesome. It just seems, however, that Yurachek is adamant about wanting a guy that wants to be here first and foremost, and by all accounts, Kiffin has wanted to be here for like a decade now.
Chris Peterson would be better than Kiffin. He doesn't want this job, or any other apparently. Matt Campbell would be better than Kiffin. Doesn't want to be here.
Ultimately, I trust Yurachek to make a good hire.

Someone has changed Bryan Harsin's Wiki page to say that he is now the head coach for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
BTW, one thing I like about Harsin is that he has a degree in Business Management. When it comes to football coaches, that can be a huge asset in regard to leadership skills and managing staff.
You brought up some good points and I trust our AD as well. I'm just not sold on Kiffin. Not at all. But I will support him if he gets hired.

This to me is the biggest point. Everyone knows FAU wasn't going to make the playoff when he got there but he took one of the worst schools in college football and turned them into conference champs over night with the same talent that had them as one of the worst in college football. I would put less emphasis on FAU beating P5 because the roster talent in his first 3 years simply weren't geared to do so. Arkansas actually has the talent to do so
Norvell took over a good situation and kept the wheels on for a few years while bringing in good recruits and finally broke through with talent additions and luck
I think kiffin is the guy you want to coach em up and turn around a program.
I have no knocks on norvell other than we don't know if he can immediately turn around a bad situation.
