For the most part, the "will firing the coach impact recruiting" articles and commentary are always myopic and dumb. Two things are always certain in these situations:

1. You don't keep a coach to save a recruiting class.
2. A coaching change always impacts recruiting one way or the other in the short term, and the new coach's literal first task post-presser is to hit the road to hold the class together and start calling "his guys" if so desired.

A signing class after a coaching change is in no way a throwaway class. Petrino's best class was the 2008 group. Bert's best class was arguably the 2013 group. Both were those respective coaches' first classes after being hired.
