Stupid question perhaps but why would you hire a guy like this with what looks like no obvious connections to be your RB without your OC in place? What am I missing here?

Starting to look like we are pulling our coaches from Memphis moreso than Missouri. Do we think we are actually gonna land Chip Long?

Chip Long, Barry Odom, and John Simon all hail from Memphis ultimately.

Wait. Is what I said even correct? Did Chip Long come through there? Information overload.

ETA: yes, that's correct. He was there in 2016.

If you look at the hires so far as a group, it really looks like Pittman is trying to secure MO, OK, AR, and TX as a recruiting footprint. Im sure we will need talent outside of that to compete but locking that down as a base is not a bad strategy. It at least appears he has a plan.

He's off to a great start. If he can land Chip Long I'll be through the roof.

pretty much what you have to do. we'll never get it all from arkansas and we aren't at the top of texas recruiting so you gotta steal some from OK and MO as well. Then the AR texas kids you need to grab who we can get. Honestly we've historicaly produced some decent linemen not sure why we quit offering them or recruiting them in state.

I don't know a lot about Chip Long but (looking at Wiki profile) it looks like he was also an offensive GA under Bobby Petrino at Louisville as well as at Arkansas. And apparently, he left with Paul Petrino when Petrino was hired as OC at Illinois (2010-2011, where he coached fullbacks and TEs.

He was under Norvell at Arizona State the entire time and followed him to Memphis.

Thanks.

Looks like a great hire if we can get him to come to Arkansas.

Pittman will do us a solid for OC.

That Odom hire was huge. No matter how shitty the Offense is Odom himself running the defense gets us through our cupcakes and 3 wins minimum . Any kind of Offense and we might get 4 or 5 wins.

Hell if he gets an OC hire any where near the level of the Odom hire we would have a punchers chance at a bowl.

Colorado's offense has gotten progressively worse since he has been there.
