Is Chard Morris going to put the SEC in its place? Dude should be rolling in year 2 or 3 of the Great Saban Retirement.

Bobby couldn’t stand recruiting. He would rather take whatever his assistants would provide and out scheme the defense. Who on that list do you attribute Bobby to recruiting because Bielema was much more involved as recruiter as HC and Morris understands the importance even more emphasizing speed.

Travis Swanson- Kirk Boykin
Trey Flowers- Reggie Johnson, Steve Caldwell
Deatrich Wise- Steve Caldwell
Darius Philon- Steve Caldwell
Chris Smith- Marty Biagi

For all of his faults, at least he knew what worked for his system.

It amazes me that Bert managed to go 11-30 against the teams on this list. He went 4-14 against the top 10 teams, and 7-16 against the rest.

Spin

Credit the assistants when it supports your narrative

Credit the HC when it doesn’t

Give credit to the head coach when he wasn’t involved

I think the biggest difference is that while Bobby's teams did have some talent on defense. It could never shine because of the system, which is fine because it worked and he won. Bert's system really helped some of those defensive players shine but he still failed and was a worse coach.

The HC always has the final decision, your spin doesn’t work with me, pal

His awful assistant coaching hires and bulking mass system of weight training with no conditioning, it’s amazing that we got any skill player drafted.

Yeah and notice when his best defensive players were under his tenure.
