Was a thing of beauty.
Reminded me of a ballsy Petrino play call. It lead to that screen 1 yard touchdown pass to Tyson Morris, which was also pretty great. Those and other flashes make me pretty excited for Briles future here. The trick play stuff, like all trick plays, are great when they work. I like how he's being creative.

The offense is starting to come together just in time.
I don't see the defense getting better from this point on because they are the worst hit area of player depletion. But they can still get some key stops that could bring out a win in a close game.
Overall this is the same team but with much better coaching. Then you add a greater emphasis on perseverance and work ethic. Those will lead to victories.
In two years this offense will be very good and in an SEC that could be filled with coaches that are new faces and an aging Saban that will soon have some down years.

Right. We don't have a tremendous amount of depth there and teams, if they are smart, can wear us out with the run. We are probably a year or two away from being able to stop a power running team.
Well that isn't the end of the world. Last year we couldn't stop anyone. We are a work in progress. You cannot turn around what Chad Morris/Bert Bielema did to this program in one year.

I too liked the 4th down call, and immediately remembered Petrino's approach... confidence is contagious.
That said - I hope there is a focus on all the slow-developing negative yardage gimmick plays that make you just scratch your head... going fast at least helps in not allowing anyone to dwell on them too much.
But there are some that honestly make you go WTF...
I am hoping we run those mostly because we see an inability to attack directly downfield with anyone besides Burks, and not because those are part of our identity on offense. An inability Pittman & co. will work to recruit their way out of.
