2013 Clarksville PG Dederick Lee, who committed to Arkansas in May of 2011, has decided to decommit from the Hogs and reopen his recruiting.
His father, Frederick said he and his son felt there will be less pressure going into his senior year and he could focus on getting his game back to the level he played as a sophomore. He remains very interested in the Razorbacks.

meh, he's ok, I'm not real worried about PG right now though

Really? It's the position I worry most about.
BJ leaves after this year, and there is no one even half his talent to step in.

This quote from Cameron Wrenn cracks me up. It's a conversation I feel like you would see in the MSU recruiting thread.
quote:
“He told me to keep grinding hard and he’ll keep grinding with me,” Wrenn said of Horton. “I’ll keep grinding with him. Hopefully that’s good news right there and I’ll be back in Fayetteville soon.”

Ty Buttrey signed with the Red Sox.

I know. I was really hoping he would make it to campus.

"@NWAMatt: Baseball America reports Ty Buttrey got $1.3 million from the Boston Red Sox - a little more than four times slot value."

I thought they could only offer the slot value? I didn't really read up on the new rules but piecing together from convo's I thought basically the skyrocketing signing bonuses were being throttled back.
So are the slot values a guideline of sorts but open negotiations are still the rule?

Not sure, I thought they could only offer the slot values as well.
Baseball recruiting is the one thing that I pay virtually no attention to at all. This is where we need WPS20 back to help us out because this was his thing.

And Rivals continues their slow descent down the tubes as one of their best guys, Kieth Niebuhr, officially starts with 247 today. They are getting killed by 247 these days.

Was this a surprise that he decommitted?

There are slot values.
BUT, IF Boston signed other slots below their slot value, they can us that money to put toward another player.
Example Slots(made up #'s of course)
1. 1mil
2. 500k
3. 350k
4. 300k
Say they signed slot 1 for 500k, slot 2 for 250k and slot 3 for 200k. They can put all that extra money on top of what is alloted for slot 4 to get the money figure higher. That would put slot 4 @ 1.2 mil, I think. I may be off a bit on my math.
I'm not surewhat the BoSox draft looked like, but it seems this may have been how they did it. Had all the other guys brought their slot value, then they couldn't have given more money to Buttrey or they would have faced a large fine.
Did I confuse you guys even more? Hope not, trying to help.

That's a big blow. He was one of their SE guys. I'm considering switching from Rivals to Scout when my subscription is up.

No. Some actually thought we might pull his scholarship. He didn't have a very good junior year at all.

Nope, that definitely helps explain it a lot. Thanks for the info.

Yeah they are getting hammered big time by Rivals. They are so shorthanded they haven't sent a scout to the state of Arkansas in two years while 247 has been a couple times already as a start-up.
I've been debating getting a 247 subscription but I'm just not an Otis Kirk fan. I've heard Turberville is good though so I might try out their 30 day free trial soon.
