am watching Dave Aranda closely.
Kiffin worries me for his mental stability. Would be great but he has to mature a bit both with this mouth and 4th down inclinations.
Luke Fickell would be another.

Leonhard has more character than Fleck can dream of.

There is likely no sustaining this level of success but I think things in cfb have changed enough since he arrived that I find it hard to believe Alabama ever goes as low as they did after Bryant and after Stallings.
There has been a big arms race that has already really played itself out and Alabama is set apart from most of the P5 in terms of support of their athletes. Now NIL makes it where a sensible move for a high school athlete is to attach themselves to a long-time reputable football brand such as Alabama.
I struggle to see how just hiring a competent head coach results in anything less than a consistent competitor to win the West and the conference most years.
I may be wrong but I think the post-Saban era will mostly be about our fans adjusting their expectations and allowing a competent coach to build a program rather than tearing down because the next hire didn’t win 2 national titles in 4 years. That is when “the decline” would happen. If they just make a solid hire and let the guy breathe then it will probably be fine.

I don't know either of them but I'm a huge Jim Leonard fan so you won't get any argument against him from me...always have been a fan of his. My brother played at Wisconsin, family full of Badgers and Cheeseheads. Bama is by far our #1. Two uncles played at Bama too but nonetheless...we like a few programs.
What's the character negatives on Flick that you're away of ?
