Alabama track and field added to its medal count Friday as men's weight thrower Ruben Banks captured silver to highlight day two action at the 2025 Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships. The second-place finisher launched a throw of 22.44-meter (73-7.50) on his second attempt. The feat marks consecutive days that the Crimson Tide has medaled in an event.
On the track, sprinter Jekovan Rhetta clocked a personal-best-tying 6.63 (q) in the men's 60-meter prelims to advance to Saturday's event final, with a chance to add to the UA men's medal count. In the men's 800m, Oussama El Bouchayby won his heat with a time of 1:46.78 to also reach the event final.
Entering the final day of competition, the UA men sit in a tie for fourth place with 32 points, while the UA women's eight points after two days of competition have them in 11th place overall.

On the final day of the 2025 Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships, Alabama track and field's Doris Lemngole and Treneese Hamilton captured gold in the women's 3,000m and women's shot put, respectively, as Mye'Joi Williams garnered an additional second-place finish in women's shot put.
Lemngole is UA's first distance runner since 1994 to capture gold in the women's 3,000m, while Hamilton is the first UA women's shot putter to win the event since 2019. Lemngole's 8:55.27 time became the new Fasken Indoor Track and Field Stadium facility record, as Hamilton's 18.14-meter (59-6.25) launch broke the Crimson Tide's school record, set just two weeks ago by silver medalist Wiliams.
In addition to Hamilton's school-record-breaking performance, Williams extended her PR in the shot put, for the third consecutive meet, to take possession of the second-farthest mark in program history. On the track, Dennis Kipruto (men's 3,000m | 7:56.24) clocked the program's 10th-fastest time in school history.
The Crimson Tide racked up close to 20 top-eight scoring finishes across the three-day conference meet. For the 39th time in program history, the UA men finished in the top five with 48 points (fifth), while the UA women's 37.5 point-total (ninth) gave the program its 38th top-10 finish.
