The Alabama track and field teams are set to compete in four meets spanning across three time zones, in what will be the busiest weekend of the Crimson Tide's regular season.

The weekend will primarily feature representation at one of the most elite, regular-season meets in the country, the Texas Relays, as well as a distance contingent at the Florida Relays. Alabama will also be racing on the west coast, as Jacob Wiggers will be competing at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco, Calif., followed by Victor Kiprop at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif.

The Crimson Tide will begin action in Austin, Texas, at 11 a.m. CT, on Thursday morning, in the women's hammer throw featuring the Alabama duo of Samantha Kunza and Chelsea Igberaese. Wiggers will follow suit at 12:45 p.m. in the 10,000-meter run at the Mile Fanelli Track Classic.

The Tide will round out Thursday's competition in the men's 400-meter hurdle prelims (5 p.m. | Chris Robinson, Clayton Elder) at the Texas Relays, followed by the 5:15 p.m. women's javelin throw featuring Hailey Poole.

Chelsea Igberaese, Chris Robinson Crack Alabama’s All-Time Top-10 Lists on First Day of Texas Relays

Hammer thrower Igberaese now holds the fifth-farthest mark in Crimson Tide history, while 400-meter hurdler Robinson now sits at No. 4 all-time

In only the second meet of the outdoor season, Alabama track and field's all-time top-10 lists have already been rewritten as both Chelsea Igberaese and Chris Robinson now sit at No. 5 and No. 4, respectively, in the record book.

On the first day of the Texas Relays, Igberaese's mark of 62.39 meters (204-8) in the women's hammer throw gave the Dacula, Ga., native the fifth-farthest throw in Crimson Tide history. The result came off her third throw of the event as Igberaese ultimately finished eighth.

On the track, Robinson clocked 50.05 in the 400-meter hurdles preliminary round to not only win his heat, but automatically qualify for the event final on Friday evening (March 31). The result is now the fourth-fastest time in UA history.

Additionally competing for Alabama was Jacob Wiggers, over in San Francisco, Calif., at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic. Wiggers finished third in the 10,000-meter run behind a personal-best time of 30:11.90.

School Records Fall for Alabama Track and Field on Second Day of Multi-Meet Weekend

Chris Robinson breaks the Crimson Tide’s 400-meter hurdles record en route to the event win, while Victor Kiprop sets a new UA standard in the 10,000-meter run

On the second day of a whirlwind, multi-meet weekend for the Alabama track and field program, Chris Robinson (400-meter hurdles) and Victor Kiprop (10,000-meter run) set new school records in their respective events, while competing in two different time zones.

Robinson reached the finals after winning his respective heat in the preliminary round. The 50.05 time, on Thursday, was the fourth-fastest time in UA history. However, in Friday's event final, Robinson would not only win the event, but break the school record as well, behind a 49.10 performance at the Texas Relays.

Late into the night on the west coast, Kiprop would break the UA 10,000-meter record at the Stanford Invitational after clocking 27:57.63. The feat comes six years to the day that the original record (28:04.95) was set by Alfred Chelanga (March 31, 2017), also in the state of California.

Down in the Sunshine State, distance runners Elka Machan and Will Pinson would grab event wins as the duo claimed the 5,000-meter sweep at the Florida Relays. It is now the second consecutive weekend Alabama has swept an event after Amari Brown and Jekovan Rhetta took the 100-meter crowns at last week's Bulldog Relays.

Alabama Rowing Takes Five of Six Races Against No. 18 Tennessee, Oklahoma

The Crimson Tide swept the Oklahoma Sooners in all six races and gathered five consecutive wins over the Tennessee Lady Vols

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – Upon returning to Oak Ridge, Tenn., the Alabama rowing program swept the Oklahoma Sooners in all six races on Saturday and gathered five consecutive wins over the No. 18 Tennessee Lady Vols, as all three programs entered Melton Hill Lake either ranked or receiving votes in this week's coaches poll.

The Crimson Tide's Second Varsity Eight+ started off the morning by crossing the line in second place behind the Lady Vols. From there, Alabama would pick up five consecutive wins over its Big 12 counterparts, spanning across two Varsity Four+ crews and three Varsity Eights. In four of those victories, the Crimson Tide's boats crossed the finish line four-to-six seconds ahead of the Vols' second-place crews.

To close the day, Alabama's 4V8+ beat Tennessee's boat by nearly 11 seconds, crossing in 6:57.94 to grab the Tide's fifth and final win. The showing marks the second-straight regatta where the Crimson Tide has finished as low as second in all its races.

FROM HEAD COACH GLENN PUTYRAE
"I was really pleased with how all our crews raced. All crews have been making improvements these past few weeks and that showed in their racing today. Our 2V8 experienced some misfortune in the last 500 where they liberated a lobster. It didn't impact the end result but certainly impacted their margins to Tennessee and Oklahoma. Thanks to the University of Tennessee for hosting some great racing."

Alabama Men’s 4x4 Relay Contingent Closes Texas Relays by Setting School Record

The Crimson Tide’s Khaleb McRae, Tarsis Orogot, Leander Forbes and Chris Robinson clock a sub-3:00 time to break the UA record

AUSTIN, Texas – In the final event of the Texas Relays, Alabama track and field's men's 4x400-meter relay contingent of Khaleb McRae, Tarsis Orogot, Leander Forbes and Chris Robinson recorded a sub-three-minute time (2:59.15) to break the Crimson Tide's school record. The squad now holds the No. 2 time in the country, as well as the fifth-fastest time in NCAA history.

The feat marks the third overall record to fall for Alabama across its multi-meet weekend, as Robinson was also responsible for setting the new 400-meter hurdle standard a day prior. Distance runner Victor Kiprop moved his name to the top of the record book after breaking the 10,000-meter run late Friday night at the Stanford Invitational.

In total, the Crimson Tide amassed 25 top-10 finishes, six UA all-time top-10 jumps, three school records and one event sweep across meets in Texas, Florida and California.

Alabama track and field is set to host its alumni reunion later this month, April 21-22, as part of the program's events during its Legacy Weekend.

Alabama's reunion weekend will be the highlight of its lone home track meet of the outdoor season, the Crimson Tide Invitational. The meet will begin Friday afternoon, April 21, in the hammer throw before gearing up for a full day of action Saturday. The final day of the meet will also serve as Senior Day and Alumni Recognition.

The Track and Field reunion portion of the weekend will begin Friday morning at 8 a.m. CT for the A-Club's golf event at Ol' Colony, followed by a lunch. Later that evening, there will be a reception at the Bryant Museum that will serve as the official welcome-home event of the weekend festivities.

Before heading out to the track on Saturday, Alabama track and field alums will hear from current head coach Dan Waters and will pay tribute to coach John Mitchell, who passed away earlier this year, before partaking in the Alumni Tailgate throughout the duration of the meet.

To join the anticipated weekend, UA track and field alums are encouraged to register at alabamaaclub.com where a full reunion weekend schedule, and more information, will be made available.

The Legacy Weekend will conclude Sunday, April 23, with the Need for Speed: Speed and Power Clinic. The one-day clinic is for boys and girls, ages 10-18, and is open to athletes currently participating in any sport, not just track and field. The clinic will also feature specific instruction/guidance from current members of the track and field staff. Online registration for the Speed and Power Clinic can be found at AlabamaTrackandFieldCamp.com.

On the opening day of the Joe Walker Invitational, Alabama track and field swept the hammer throw event behind wins from Bobby Colantonio Jr. and Chelsea Igberaese.

In his first competition of his final outdoor season, Colantonio Jr. took home Alabama's first event win of the day. The reigning SEC individual champion needed only his second throw to seal the victory after launching a 70.47-meter (231-2) mark.

On the women's side, Igberaese followed suit with a first-place, hammer throw finish of her own. Her 61.21-meter (200-10) throw proved the winner during the fifth of six total rounds. Later, in the women's hammer invite, teammate Samantha Kunza recorded the second-farthest mark in UA women's hammer throw history to round out the event.

Colantonio Jr. and Igberaese now join 100-meter dash duo Amari Brown and Jekovan Rhetta (Bulldog Relays, March 24-25), as well as 5,000-meter duo Elka Machan and Will Pinson (Florida Relays, March 31) as the third consecutive pairing to earn an event sweep for the Crimson Tide.

Eleven Alabama athletes will compete in Oxford for the final day of the meet. The Crimson Tide trio of Barry Evans, Alan de Falchi and DeMarco Lemons will begin at noon CT on Saturday in the men's discus.

After securing its third event sweep of the season on Friday, the Alabama track and field program's momentum continued into Saturday as the Crimson Tide racked up three additional event titles, along with nine overall top-10 finishes on the final day of the Joe Walker Invite.

Alabama's women's shot put trio of Chelsea Igberaese, Cherisse Murray and Taylor Gorum opened the final day of the weekend meet with three top-10 finishes behind an event-win for Igberaese (16.12m | 52-10.75). Murray (15.83m | 51-11.25) and Gorum (14.53m | 47-8) finished third and ninth, respectively.

Before Igberaese's day was done, she would also record a second-place finish in the women's discus (52.91m | 173-7). The feat is now the eighth-farthest mark in school history.

On the men's side, Ala de Falchi also snagged a pair of top-10 finishes via an event title in the men's discus (56.42m | 185-1) and an eighth-place finish in the men's shot put (16.53m | 54-2.75).

Over on the track, the Crimson Tide would garner a trio of top-five finishes to round out the action in Oxford. In the men's 110-meter hurdles, Patrick Daves clocked a PR en route to his fourth-place finish. Antonio Crisco hit the track next, recording a third-place finish in the men's 400-meter dash before Clayton Elder concluded the meet for Alabama by winning the men's 400-meter hurdles. It's now the second consecutive week that a Crimson Tide student-athlete has won a meet's 400-meter hurdle event.

In total, Alabama would notch six event titles, 17 top-10 finishes and one event sweep while in Oxford, in addition to two different athletes adjusting UA's all-time top-10 lists.

Head Coach Dan Waters Said
"I'm very pleased with how we executed again this weekend – which speaks to how the staff prepared our student-athletes, making sure everyone remains ready for the next competition. Sweeping one event is an accomplishment in itself, but to have it happen again for the third-straight weekend, and in three different areas of our program, is remarkable. We also won a couple of events and set a number of PRs again this weekend. Overall, I'm proud of the effort we've shown. At the midway point of the season, it's important that we continue our momentum as we begin to approach the postseason."
