Alabama Rowing Sweeps Saturday Races Against Eastern Michigan
Alabama rowing hit the water on a beautiful Saturday morning in Tuscaloosa, competing against Eastern Michigan in its first home spring race of the season.
In the first race of the day, Alabama's 3V8+ held off a late push from Eastern Michigan's 2V8+ to earn the win in 7:57.46, just over four seconds ahead of the Eagles' crew. The Crimson Tide swept the 4s race, with its 1V4+ boat leading the pack at 8:21.30 with Alabama's remaining boats following behind all ahead of Eastern Michigan's lone 4 boat. In the final race of the day, the Tide's 1V8+ posted a winning time of 7:20.61 and the 2V8+ finished second in 7:33.92.
Alabama's 1V4+ and 2V4+ crews sported the Tide's newest boats, named prior to the race in honor of Marie Robbins and Finus Gaston for their support and dedication to the program over the years. Saturday's events also featured the senior day ceremony as the Crimson Tide honored its 13 seniors and graduate students.

Alabama Diving Contingent Set for NCAA Zone B Championships
Alabama swimming and diving is sending six divers to the NCAA Zone B Championships, March 6-9 at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga., on the Georgia Tech campus.
Halia Bower, Natalie Donkle and Tanesha Lucoe will represent the Crimson Tide women while Mohamed Farouk, Hunter Jaynes and Kevin Li will compete for the UA men.
While swimmers qualify for the upcoming NCAA Championships by virtue of times posted during the season, divers qualify exclusively through the five Zone meets. Each Zone has a set number of slots per event. For the women, Zone B has 10 slots off both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events and nine off the platform, while the men have eight off the 1-meter, 11 off the 3-meter board and seven on the platform.
In addition to hosting the Zone B meet, Atlanta is also the site of the men's and women's 2022 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

Alabama Soccer Downs Lipscomb in Spring Opener
The Alabama soccer team opened its spring season Saturday with a pair of 60-minute games against Lipscomb at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. The Crimson Tide won the first matchup 1-0 off a goal from Ashlynn Serepca before Felicia Knox scored a late goal in the second game for the Tide's second 1-0 win.

Strong Singles Play Leads Alabama To A 5-2 Win Over No. 22 Vanderbilt
The Alabama women's tennis team battled to win 5-of-6 singles matches in its 5-2 upset win over No. 22 Vanderbilt Sunday at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. With the win, the Crimson Tide advanced to 12-2 on the season and 2-0 in Southeastern Conference play, while Vanderbilt dropped to 8-3 overall and 0-2 in conference action.
UA recorded its first win over the Commodores since 2013, snapping a nine-match winning streak by Vanderbilt.

Alabama swimming and diving's Tanesha Lucoe finaled off the 1-meter springboard at the NCAA Zone B Championships, Sunday at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga., on the Georgia Tech campus.
Lucoe was ninth after prelims with 278.40 points over six dives, advancing to finals. She then tallied 265.20 points over her final six dives for a combined mark of 543.60 points, good for 14th overall. In other action off the women's 1-meter, Natalie Donkle finished 31st in prelims with 231.80 points, while Halia Bower was 36th with 226.75 points.
Lucoe, Donkle and Bower are back in action Monday in the women's 3-meter competition, while Mohamed Farouk, Hunter Jaynes and Kevin Li get their Zone B competition started with the men's 1-meter springboard competition.

It is Li's third invite while Farouk earned his spot as a rookie. Both men will compete for the chance to advance to the national championships off the 3-meter springboard on Tuesday.
Li, Farouk and Hunter Jaynes all advanced to the finals of the 1-meter springboard. Farouk was second after prelims with 347.00 points, while Li finished sixth with 335.75 points and Jaynes took 15th with 291.45 points. In finals, Farouk tallied 687.10 points over 12 dives to take fourth, Li was fifth after totaling 675.05. Jaynes finished 18th following finals with 561.10 points.
Halia Bower advanced to the finals of the women's 3-meter springboard, taking 18th place in prelims with 281.65 points. She finished 17th in finals with 549.85 points over 12 dives. Tanesha Lucoe (281.65 points) finished 19th and Natalie Donkle (266.00 points) took 24th following prelims.

Six Alabama Swimmers and Divers Earn Individual Men's NCAA Championship Berths

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men qualified six swimmers and divers and five relays for the upcoming NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, which will be held in Atlanta, Ga., March 23-26. The Crimson Tide is sending four swimmers and two diver in individual events and will announced additional swimmers as part of its relay pool later this week.
Derek Maas, Jake Marcum, Matt Menke and Eric Stelmar are all slated to swim individual events. Mohamed Farouk and Kevin Li both qualified for nationals during this week's NCAA Zone B Diving Championships.
Maas, Marcum, Menke, Li and Stelmar are all making a return trip to the NCAA Championships, with Maas and Menke earning All-America honors during the 2021 meet.

Alabama’s Hillary Cheruiyot Named Men’s Indoor SEC Freshman Runner of the Year
The Crimson Tide phenom is the third UA newcomer to win the indoor honor
Hillary Cheruiyot impressive rookie campaign with the Alabama track and field/cross country squad continued Wednesday when he was named the men's indoor Southeastern Conference Freshman Runner of the Year.
Cheruiyot is the third member of the Crimson Tide men's team to earn the indoor rookie accolade, following Emmanuel Bor in 2007 and Kirani James in 2010.
Cheruiyot placed second and was the only freshman on the 3,000m podium at the SEC Indoor Championships, earning second team All-SEC and All-Freshman honors. Cheruiyot also set the 3,000m school record with a time of 7:48.74 and ran on Alabama's school record DMR (9:22.43).
In the fall, Cheruiyot earned NCAA All-South Region, USTFCCCA All-Academic and SEC All-Freshman honors for cross country.
Cheruiyot and the Crimson Tide begin competition at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala., on Friday.
