Alabama Rowing Races Clemson in Spring-Opening Scrimmage
15th-ranked Alabama rowing opened its spring schedule with a scrimmage at Clemson, sending four 8 boats and a pair of 4 boats for a series of races against the Tigers.
"It was a good start to the spring season," head coach Glenn Putyrae said. "It was a lot of fun to get back on the race course. We learned a lot throughout the competition that we feel we can work on as we continue to progress. Clemson's rowing staff and athletes were great hosts and we had a strong contingent of parents cheering on the Tide. We look forward to seeing everyone out at Manderson Landing next Saturday for our home race against Eastern Michigan and celebrating our seniors for all the contributions they have made to our team."
The Crimson Tide return home next weekend hosting Eastern Michigan Saturday, March 5 starting at 9 a.m. CT on the Black Warrior River. The race will serve as Alabama's senior day.

The Alabama track and field teams earned two more medals on the final day of the 2022 Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships Saturday at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium in College Station, Texas, bumping their two day total to seven.
The Crimson Tide's two-day medal tally included three gold, one silver and three bronze. Alabama's men finished third with 71 points, while the women were eighth with 28 points in the final team standings.
Isaac Odugbesan got the Crimson Tide started on Saturday by bettering his own school record for the second time this season to win his second SEC indoor title in the shot put. He posted a toss of 20.71 meters on his third turn to secure his third consecutive SEC shot put title, adding Saturday's gold to his 2021 indoor and outdoor championships.
Hillary Cheruiyot earned a silver medal in the men's 3,000 meters to close out individual competition on the meet's final day. The Tide rookie ran a 7:49.00 to take home second place.

The Alabama swimming and diving teams enjoyed a solid outing at the Bulldog NCAA Qualifying Meet in Athens, Ga., at the Ramsey Center on the Georgia campus over the weekend.
The Crimson Tide's contingent cam away with several career-best times, including six that rank on Alabama's all time top-10 lists. Alabama also came away with a pair of wins with Jake Marcum taking top honors in the men's 200 backstroke and Gracie Felner touching first in the women's 100 butterfly.

The All-SEC first team consists of the top finishers in each event at the SEC Indoor Championships, while the second team consists of the second and third place finishers in each event. Mercy Chelangat (5,000 meters), Bobby Colantonio Jr. (weight throw) and Isaac Odugbesan (shot put) all won individual events during last weekend's SEC Indoor Championships. Chelangat won her event in an SEC Championship record time, while Odugbesan earned his third-consecutive SEC shot put title with a mark that bettered his own school record.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A total of 11 student-athletes, including two women and nine men, earned berths to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala., March 11-12. It will mark the fourth time this season that Alabama will compete at the Crossplex.
Mercy Chelangat, Hillary Cheruiyot, Leander Forbes, Jace Jones, Eliud Kipsang, Jacob Lamb and Khaleb McRae are set to compete in running events while Bobby Colantonio Jr., Chelsea Igberaese, Emmanuel Ineh and Isaac Odugbesan are set to compete in field events.

The Alabama women qualified 10 swimmers in individual events for the upcoming NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, which will be held in Atlanta, Ga., March 16-19.
The Crimson Tide women are coming off their best showing at the Southeastern Conference Championships in more than 25 years, taking third place overall with nine individual and relay golds. Last season, Alabama took fifth place at the NCAA Championships, tying its best national finish in school history after also finishing fifth in 1983. It was the Tide's first top-10 finish since 1994.

The Alabama women's tennis team captured its first Southeastern Conference win of the season Friday, defeating Kentucky 4-0 at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. The Crimson Tide moves to 11-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play, as the Wildcats drop to 11-2 overall and 0-1 in SEC action.
After winning the doubles point with victories on courts three and two, respectively, Alabama took three straight singles points to clinch the match. UA recorded singles wins on courts three, five and one, respectively, for its 4-0 victory against the Wildcats.

Alabama Rowing Hosts Eastern Michigan Saturday, Celebrates Senior Day
Alabama rowing returns to the Black Warrior River Saturday morning, racing Eastern Michigan at 9 a.m. CT before honoring the Crimson Tide's senior class.
Racing begins at 9 a.m. CT with Alabama's Third and Fourth Varsity 8s against Eastern Michigan's Second and Third Varsity 8s. At 9:15 a.m. CT, the Tide will race four V4s against the Eagles' First Varsity 4+ before the final race at 9:30 a.m. CT between Alabama's First and Second Varsity 8s against Eastern Michigan's First Varsity 8.
Following the races, the Tide will recognize its 13 seniors and graduate students at Manderson Landing with a senior day ceremony. The day's activities also includes a special boat dedication prior to racing to honor Marie Robbins and Finus Gaston for their contributions in establishing and growing the Alabama rowing program.
Alabama rowing returns to the Black Warrior River Saturday morning, racing Eastern Michigan at 9 a.m. CT before honoring the Crimson Tide's senior class.
Racing begins at 9 a.m. CT with Alabama's Third and Fourth Varsity 8s against Eastern Michigan's Second and Third Varsity 8s. At 9:15 a.m. CT, the Tide will race four V4s against the Eagles' First Varsity 4+ before the final race at 9:30 a.m. CT between Alabama's First and Second Varsity 8s against Eastern Michigan's First Varsity 8.
