And we are second in the nation in PPG.
A few more healthy bodies that fit the offense, with more emphasis on defense and we are a pretty dang good team.

KenPom out on tournament chances. We have a 3.2% chance of winning the ‘ship and going to the Dance.
And the first big bid stealer may have occurred as Utah State knocks out #5 San Diego St in the Mountain West tourney championship.

Consider this: we saw a lot of these same players quit just a little over a year ago in a not too dissimilar game. The coaches and staff are all new except for Pett. The players are mostly the same. So where is it logical to assume the problem is?

We’ve lost our last five season finales, I believe. That’s a kick to the balls

Does the late season collapse this year happen if neither Herb or Petty got hurt? I personally don't think so but interested to hear others opinions.
When Herb got hurt we had won 8 out of our last 10 with a 19 point win over Auburn, 20+ point win over Miss St, 14 point win over Richmond in that span.

We also beat Belmont in Huntsville by 20 during that span, they just won their conference tournament and are 26 and 7.

I think we certainly win 2-3 more games without those two injuries.
However, we would have still choked away some home games against mediocre teams and would probably be sitting around 18-13 right now.
I was at the last game before Herb was injured against LSU and it was a complete shite show where we were lucky to beat a 10-21 Kansas St at home.
Really the exact type of performance that turned into close losses to Tenn, Arky and Vandy.
We're too poor in the last 5 minutes of games to make me think we'd end up much better than 18 wins, maybe 19.

He got injured vs LSU, he played about half the game with a fractured hand.
ETA: NVM you were talking about k state

That's what I said in my post.
The Kansas St game before Herb got injured against LSU was an exact proto-type for the eggs we laid against Tenn, Arky and Vandy. K State just happened to be so crappy we got away with one of only about 2 wins in close games all season.
That's why I think we do a bit better without those injuries but not a night and day difference.

You said we'd have 18 or 19 wins though, which is pretty conservative, but fair. That would likely have us in the NCAAT. At the least we would just need to win one more game in the SECT. That's a pretty big difference from where we are now.

Yeah, I think losing Herb (then him playing with one hand) and then Petty for key games is certainly why we're not in our comfort zone of being on the bubble going into the SEC tourney.
That said, I'm not too happy about our response to that adversity.

Pre Herbs injury we had won 8 out of our last 10, since his injury we have lost 8 out of 12. That's a pretty big difference.

I really would like to see Forbes transfer out. He's a turn over waiting to happen. He hit a couple of threes this year but gives very little resistance on defense.

Yea, he’s in over his head. I thought we would see some improvement, but he’s lost out there
Posted on 3/7/20 at 9:42 pm to Dolphin1
Before the season the recruiting experts had us convinced that Forbes was some deadeye three point marksman. He has made 12 out of 56 three pointers.
He has turned it over twice as many times as he has made a three, 24 turnovers 12 threes.
He has been a good re-bounder but that's about the only positive I've seen from him so far.

Bamafan, you’re a great poster but I think you are a jinx when you start season threads.

I can’t put this on him
He tried to get out of it
