Ya'll think Davis has turned a corner or does he go back to his 2 rebounds 2 points type game tonight?
I really hope he has, he played amazing last game, if he could do that consistently we are a different team. I'm pulling for him, I know he has put the work in to play better than he had been.

Cobrasize was born in 76. Not to mention I actually played basketball. Some of us love the sport and didn’t start watching just because they liked seeing men in shorts.

It may be CMayes that talks sometimes about watching CM Newton's teams play.
(Though I have a photo of my father holding me for a snapshot at a CM Newton coached game in 1978 wearing a snazzy elephant logo baby jumper.)

Must've been nice for those who got to watch during the end of CMs era and the prime Wimp years. I started watching Bama basketball around the time Gottfried was hired so pretty much all I've ever known of Bama basketball is heartbreak.
That elite 8 run was really fun and we have had a couple of other good teams but it's been mostly crap.

Wish Coach Newton stayed until 1990.

I have had season tickets since ‘76. My interest goes deeper though, my father played for coach Crisp in the late 30,s

My parents were in school in the late 70s and early 80s (late CM/early Wimp) (undergrad and law).....my dad always talks about how great it all was - the league as a whole, fan support, etc.
My undergrad was the middle/end of the Gottfried era and it was a pretty good time (better than I thought at the time).
Hope we're getting back to being a tournament team most years again. It's the best thing in the world just to be in the tournament.

My first game was in 89 against South Alabama in the NCAAt. My PawPaw took me to the Omni to watch it. A Hispanic by the name Gabe Estada owned us that night and a fellow by the name of Jeff Hodge hit a GW 3 with 1 second left. Ive been hooked and Heartbroken ever since......until this year of course when I decided to no longer invest in the Tide

I started listening to and watching Bama basketball in the mid 70's; just about the time CM was winding down and Wimp was about to be promoted. Good times. So careful what you say about us "older folks." I'm old enough to know better but still too young to care.

I started keeping up with Bama hoops around 82.
That season Wimp would lead our troops to a sweet 16 matchup against Dean Smith's North Carolina Tarheels.
The Tarheels were led by Sam Perkins, James Worthy, & Michael Jordan.
We were led by Ennis Whatley, Eddie Phillips, & Bobby Lee Hurt.
The game was physical front the opening tip.
North Carolina did prevail 74-69.
Carolina would go on & defeat Patrick Ewing & the Georgetown Hoyas in a classic championship game, Jordan hitting the game winning shot.
Wimp would lead us to 4 more sweet 16 appearances during his tenure.

Mid 70's ya'll would've gotten to see the last couple of Bear championships too. I'm envious of Bama fans who got to see that era back then, then got to see Wimps era, plus this Saban era.
I'm very thankful just to have gotten to be a fan during this Saban era, it's been an amazing run.

January 23, 1978 is my first real memory of Alabama basketball. Listened to all the games on the radio in my room. Remember it like yesterday, Kyle Macy, Rick Robey, and Jack Givens led probably the greatest Kentucky team in history against "The Mule" and perhaps Alabama's greatest guard tandem ever, Anthony Murray and Rah Rah Scott.
Kentucky went 30-2 and the National Title, but, not this night!
Alabama 78
Kentucky 72
The '76 team was a little before my time, but by this time, I was hooked.

Yeah...Mrs. State is getting whooped. I still think we would have 100% beat them with Petty last week

and now Miss St has cut it to 8. Go home SEC you're drunk. Crazy year in the conference, no lead is safe.
