I remember in the late 70s when Larry O’Day locked himself inside the booth at WKXX in Birmingham and played The Tide Is High by Blondie repeatedly. I don’t know exactly how many times, but let’s say it was over 100. It was fun at first. Word spread and people started tuning in. You listen for a while and then go about your day. When you’d come back later, it was still going strong. Eventually though, it lost its magic. It just became annoying and people stopped listening.
